There's a simple reason for the symbols: Money. Translasting two reference sheets is cheaper and easier than translating every single card, so this is probably made this way to make it easier to export.

translating one or two sheets of paper takes at the very least less time than translating a whole deck of cards (and layouting them and printing them...), especially if you, for example, want to make a multilingual version for the European market. say you wanna make a German, French and Spanish version, then you only need to translate the sheet three times and pack it in and you can distribute the exact same product in three different markets

@@Valtharr you still have to translate the rulebook though. and I think most symbols could have a few words next to them or something and not be a hassle to translate.

@@jackwuchannel The key there is that you have to reprint additional sets of cards if you put words on them. Yes, you do have to translate the rulebook and the reference sheet, but those are less printing that the cards.
