@drhodad I've heard a few people say that it makes it easier once you turn off the ABS. I wish I would've heard that earlier as it could have saved me a lot of time :)
Well done man. There's a lot of videos showing people being at first place after one lap. ABS hack seems to make the difference. Unfortunately, no way to set it to 0 anymore. Four hours, steering wheel, best place = 2nd... you're good!
Damn, this was uploaded December 5th. You must've played the living hell out of this to get to 21 so quickly. Good job. I'm trying to beat this with a pad an I've only managed 4th place, with a bunch of at the line finishes just as I'm about to slingshot draft...majorly annoying at times, but the challenge is great fun. Thanks for the upload
YES. i did it. i finally beat jeff gordon's nascar school advanced challenge #3. well i went to the driving options before the race and i turned the steering sensitivity from 0 to 7. this enabled me to turn better on the curves and slipstream other cars better. i did not really need the abs turned off. plus, i used the controller not the steering wheel
not sure entirely why, but for some reason only when i watched ur video (have not tweaked any settings) i was able to get 2nd with ease. almost had first, but i messed up my drafting. kudos to you
Take ABS and switch it to 0, it is at 1 by default (it is one of the only options you can switch for this event). The lets you keep up your speed around the turns by up to 10 mph and you will easily win... a few of the events are like this (but different options), you just have to experiment with the settings and you will learn about cars at the same time :)
i broke my game case and tore up my instruction booklet out of frustration from this fucking thing lol, haven't nerd raged like that in years. thank you polyphony, truly thank you
Was up till 4am this morning trying to get this one. Keep coming second by about half a bonnet length. Why the heck would turning the ABS off do anything? You don't even use the brakes. Will definitely try it though
@viewingiseasy Thanks, I did play a lot of this game the first week it came out. For some reason I found it easier than I remembered in past GT games. It seemed like I got some really good cars right off the start and could win a lot of the races with little effort. I agree that this challenge can be really annoying at times, but you are right that the challenge is a lot of fun once you finally beat it.
Most any player can get through the game with ease if they train hard, but I've seen people with real skill and talent playing the game so yes there's people with a lot of skill for this game that don't hack it.
I've been trying this for over an hour and only once been in 1st place, and never finished above 2nd. All the other events were easy in comparison. I don't understand why you're not disqualified at 1:43 - I get disqualified all the time for even the smallest touch. That means I usually can't overtake anyone in corners and often I have to turn around cars in a big curve to make sure I don't get disqualified. Also, I can't turn the ABS off, as some people suggest. I don't use the brake at any time either though, so it shouldn't matter.
@NiGHTScharlie I dont use the metric system but I would prefer it for NASCAR...I don't know why you wouldnt have it on for these cars because nothing about them is metric based
@rozariojackie yeah it's pretty ridiculous...it is possible to do it with abs turned on, as i did, but you're gonna get so incredibly mad in the process it's just not fun any more...
i've been playing jeff gordon's nascar school advanced challenge 3 for so many hours total. throughout the time, my best position was 6th; but to get bronze must be at least 5th. and at last i got 4th, but no better. WTF? for tons of hours playing my best and still no good shit. i could barely even get bronze in this event. now they're saying to win gold, you must turn the abs off. but how? this even is a bit fucked up. if only there was just an extra lap or less cars i would get gold.
@theluke01 i bet it took me just as long...that red energizer guy is a pain...right when you pass him there is a bump on the race track...and i can't remember how many times i yelled at jeff gordon and his stupid comments! lol
@potbellypublix The United States is the only industrialised country in the world that does not use the metric system as its predominant system of measurement (Wikipedia)
GT5 like all racing games is not about skill, only luck, or hacks if you have them. the requirements to win are 10% skill, 60% luck, and 30% F****ING MAGIC! or 5% skill, 95% hacks. -values are for users with Dual Shock 3 controller. my skill level is moderately high, it doesn't help me at all, that **** Lowe's car doesn't understand what slipstream is!
I dont get it!! I actually won this time..... my best results before was 8th place, like the 40 times i didnt get disqualified... amazing!! and with my regular ps3 controller :D now after 4 hours I can get to sleep :D wheee!!!
the real driving simulator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so why then in this bloody race do you get disqualified for only just touching an other car? when in the 'real' NASCAR races this is part of the race. this is a f*"king joke. and to make matters worse just as i was overtaking the first couple of cars to take the lead from the inside one of the cars came down from the curve and touched ME with the result that I was disqualified!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's either a driving simulator or it's not!
@drhodad I've heard a few people say that it makes it easier once you turn off the ABS. I wish I would've heard that earlier as it could have saved me a lot of time :)
You have to draft behind the other cars to increase your top speed even when you're far behind. If you're a little to the side you won't be drafting.
Thank you so damn much! Seriously, I was pulling out my hair over this one, and your settings did the trick, so thanks for that :)

Thank You! This video helped me heaps, i only looked at the first little bit of it. It can be done, even with the ABS setting on.

@SteeevoooLapeer Thanks :) It's been a while since I've followed Nascar so I wasn't sure if some drivers have changed teams.
not sure entirely why, but for some reason only when i watched ur video (have not tweaked any settings) i was able to get 2nd with ease. almost had first, but i messed up my drafting. kudos to you

@ErMac2187 great advice. Tried these settings and finished first on my first try with those settings. :-) I played with normal gamepad.

How did you do it? It seems like my car doesn't have the power the others do.
@drhodad how can you turn the abs off as 1 is the minimum rate?
HOW DO YOU GET TO DRIVE THE DUPONT WHILE I'M STUCK WITH THE AARP
@NiGHTScharlie I dont use the metric system but I would prefer it for NASCAR...I don't know why you wouldnt have it on for these cars because nothing about them is metric based
worst part about this, is that every time you restart this nonsene you have to watch the whole movie all over again..
@drhodad You can't switch it to 0. 1 is the minimum setting so sadly enough it don't work for this challenge.
how do you guys turn ABS off? mine is stuck at 1
GOOD JOB!!!!
Did you do this with a DS3?
cant turtn abs to 0. why?
@ErMac2187 Holy shit! thanks a bunch! I beat it my first time after switching my stuff to this haha.
@DFILL450 Do you mean a dualshock controller? Yes
How did u get your car going 360 I can only reach 330 WTF
@rozariojackie yeah it's pretty ridiculous...it is possible to do it with abs turned on, as i did, but you're gonna get so incredibly mad in the process it's just not fun any more...
This has been patched for the worst, I have read many people saying that this has a glitch now that deactivates slipstream in some parts of the track.
Superrrrr
I CANT MAKE IT!!! THIS PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH aaaaaa
holy christ i cant even catch the 9th place car, let alone think about even a bronze medal
@ErMac2187 Thanks to you, I finally did it.
1:46 --> lucky guy! even when i LOOK at the enemys i`m DQ

It doesn't seem like using analog controller here.
this is so hard... i turned ABS to 1 and steering sensitivity to 7.. made it easier.. still sucked
@potbellypublix The United States is the only industrialised country in the world that does not use the metric system as its predominant system of measurement (Wikipedia)
Lol, it's in kilometers, not miles.
Lmao. Funnily enough I finished it like. two attempts after making that comment

I won it first try, but i had a steering wheel...

do i have to have kilometer in order win?? why the fuck people use that instead of mph..
You're a fucking idiot dude.
