Best part of the video: that no matter what happens, Rebecca supports you %100. There wasn't a hint of anger or irritation in her voice after the line was hit. And the way she looks at you, you can see that feeling of love and support for you. You are a lucky man. And you have a wonderful relationship.
He that never screws up, never does anything. That shows you work and do it well.
Rebekah is correct! I'm glad the water line was fixed and nobody got injured. God bless you both!
My goodness. All that for an inch and half. Handy to have the little backhoe. 😊
Don’t be to hard on yourself
We all do make mistakes! But I love how humble you two are. Blessings to you both!
This shows why it’s a good idea to mark your utilities with metal tape. You can find it easy with a metal detector. Enjoying the channel.
Evan, please don't feel embarrassed, this is real life. It happens to everyone who owens property, and does any kind of maintenance.
Lesson learned. When in doubt, dig by hand and put caution tape over utilities to avoid future problems.
this 100% i have a fence that crosses my septic lines that run to the tank and we had no idea where any of it ran so we had to hand dig it all only 9 posts but that took like 4-6 hours i think
I think the best part of your mishaps is that you have the ability to fix most anything.😊❤❤❤❤❤
Theres gotta be a connection somewhere in this lol
What a bummer!
In high school I was really tired when I got home and went to take a nap in my bed. I climbed in and in a very short time I started to feel sharp stings on my legs. When I finally climbed out, pulled the covers back, there were at least three wasps in the bed. I didn't feel the need for a nap after that. So, I understand the worry about wasps. I still pull the sheet and blankets back 40 years later.
I'm glad you got the water going again, and the whole project is really turning out great. After watching some of the out videos of your channel of when "442" was part of the name of your channel and I think you should have a wall of successes!
I hope you do the wall of shame, but it will be the wall of Overcoming Challenges! ✌👍👍
Old habits are hard to break. I have faith in you both. I think you're fortunate that you know how to fix a mistake or a broken water line. You two work well together. That's a blessing 😊
At least you kept your sense of humor through it all. That makes life's potholes seem less tragic.
He who doesn’t do anything doesn’t make any mistakes, so don’t worry about your mistakes. Keep up the good work God bless.
Was i the only one who was helping him push the pipe together in my head 😂
The Clincher to this whole debacle, is that the first time you back the trailer up to those posts to load an animal, you will inevitably hit them and knock the whole three posts out of alignment anyway!. . "Close enought is sometimes a good barometer to "just leave it alone and go with the flow. " But you both handled it well and got the jobe done. kudos and thanks for sharing. ECF
I would have considered myself dang lucky and left that post an inch and a half off lol. I just love you two! You get along so well. Glad you got your water line fixed.
Yep I was screaming "Leave well enough alone man" the whole time😢
Hi.... Evan thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Loved the for an 1 1/2 comment. Life always fun. Good job.
Close enough is close enough.
Shoulda left it an inch off! what a total bummer. Thanks for another great adventure.
"Hair dryer in the bathtub" Interesting thought process! Rebecca sounds like a woman you don't want to piss off!!!
As you always do one more great video mate and all the best to you all always
A fun video to watch. Things have gone to crap and you guys are laughing. Way to go. I hope you put boards up in you chute to protect the side of the building.
I've worked for the telephone/ISP company in this area for many many years. I always called post hole augers and post pounders line locators lol
I'm exhausted just watching this episode! Glad you got it fixed and your project closer to completion.
Farming is a dirty job. But you did good. Just think positive. Both of you handled it right and calmly.
So, Evan....Why is this channel not called "Evan's Confessional?" Love y'all's videos! And usually feel "better'n'you'than ME!"
You both did good even with __it that happened. It does happen but seems like alot happens to you. You're not alone in that boat. We enjoy some long stretches that all goes well then the bottom comes out of the bucket. You have the equipment and the skills to repair things so take it easy on yourself. Stay safe and keep up the fun Fred.
At least you have all of the equipment to do the job!
The man who does nothing does nothing wrong. Your great workers. 🙂
Give a quick tour of the mistake collection. That’s always interesting.
Hey Evan when digging a trench dig steps into one or both sides. Makes getting in and out easier and faster. Here in Canada we have to dig 8 foot deep water lines to avoid freezing. So if your in a trench and you need to get out those steps are a must.
Hey Evan Ive been watching and subscibed to you for many years now and love the content you produce.
I usually agree with what you do and the tasks that need doing but enough is enough. What you should do is discuss what you are about to start with Rebeka. Mate the woman are only 50% correct but this time I agree with her.
Regards and love to you both and keep up the good work.
Thanks Evan and Rebecca....sorry for the broke water line.
When ever we do a project on our land or building's we always take plenty photos and measurements. Also print the photos and put them in your safe....don't just leave them on the phone.....believe me some days you will need them. Also they make a slide repair coupling for working in tight areas....... Ive also put concrete stepping stones right over the repair area.....
Handheld Propane torch works great no electricity danger
Good video, I can relate. Bored into an underground water line myself just the other day. Problem was, it was 109 degrees! Ugh!! And wanted to mention the weight holder on the post auger is a great idea. Gonna mount one on my auger ASAP. 👍
Those cutters are the handiest things to have. Shark bites work to couple your pipe. Shove them on and pull back and they’re on.
Hello Evan Rebecca I was thinking the same thing the digger sure helped but if you been doing it all by hand you more than likely would not have damaged the water line. Great video I enjoy watching thankyou. Have a great day.
I appreciate that Rebekah wears the same high quality farm footwear as me!
Evan put an extension socket on the water shutoff valve in case it fills with water you can then have clear access
You are doing great looking good!!
Awesome recovery !!!!! Team work makes the dream work!!!!! 😊🙏👍❤
Inch and a half statement from Rebecca….Priceless 😂😂😂😂😂. Thank the Lord for your skills. Still priceless though…😂😂😂😂
Thank God for that new tractor with the backhoe
I was waiting for the mud wrestling to begin at any moment!! 🤣❤️
Loved it,Thanks for sharing.
Get you some travel packs of baby wipes for your truck.
Should have put that last post in now since you just repaired the water line and know exactly where it is.
Should have put a repair marker in the ground for future problems?
I suggest you go back and put an extension on the shut-off at the meter. It would help in the winter if you had to shut off the water.
Well, sometimes chicken, sometimes there and sometimes your hands just get dirty, Evan. One suggestion would be to play e some colored tape a foot above the water line or power cable when burying it. It's too late to do that now, but maybe for future reference.
Hopefully freezing and thawing won't stress your splice. Good fix overall.
I'm not superstitious, so I don't think saying words or not changes things like where pipes are or holes appear.
You make things happen on the farm and that's inevitably going to mean problems. You address the problems with vigor and get them resolved. Does it set you back a few hours? Yep, but you're also smart enough to learn from them. You don't repeat those mistakes, at least not that I've noticed. That's a GREAT place to be in life.
Congratulations on the relatively swift recovery from this problem and we'll be looking forward to more fence installations soon. Well done!
Learn from mistakes. You should put a tracer wire with your plastic water lines.. locatable. Good job. Fast fix. Although our water lines are 8 feet deep here in Saskatchewan, we only use one clamp on the splices. Thanks for sharing.
one thing I do that might help you in the future is I drop scrap metal short rebar or nails ect every few feet in a trench when i back fill it so i can find my water and power lines with a metal detector when I need to work in areas i know I have lines but am not 100% sure where they are.
Howdy Evan and Rebekah, I worked 30 yrs in water and gas distribution. I have to agree with Rebekah's superstitions. We never said take one more bucket whilst excavating as that would ensure that we would hit something. We just said take another one...that seemed to keep Mr. Murphy and his gremlins away. Excellent repair. You two are a great team. We also had a wall of shame to remind folks to be cautious and safe. Have A Day! ;~)
Hello y’all hey I keep baby wipe in my truck Love y’all videos 👍👍👍🙏🏻🇺🇸
Great recovery!
I'm with your wife on this one. she has a point!
Alligare Diuron 80DF Is what I have used for my duckweed problem. Works amazing. Don't use it if you're going to use pond water to water your garden. Keep on working that retirement job. Thanks for the videos.
Hi Evan and Rebecca, I just want to say you look fantastic together as a married couple. You are a wonderful example working together striving to achieve a goal together keep up the good work. Love the videos from Australia
I'm in agreement with R. You're one of the most positive minded TH-camrs I've watched but don't say anything about possible calamity. 😀 👍👍👍
Glad you had backhoe to repair line. Made for some could content regardless. 😊
They sell a T- handle two foot long wrench specifically for turning on and off the water valve at the meter. Or make one yourself. It will keep you from having to lay down and possibly dropping your adjustable wrench.
OUCH !!!! You gotta laugh...and not cry.... Wife's like is you life insurance paid up ???
Great video Evan and Rebecca
Your luck is like mine if i didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all
Snickers makes a protien bar that is so close to the real thing it's only got like 1 or 4 carbohydrates and 20 gram of protien I love them
Rebecca was so funny today, oh that will be like getting in a bath tub with a blow dryer….LOL
There are these things called Dude Wipes. I gave some to our German Exchange student for Christmas.
They smell great and are skin friendly. They are also pretty large.
Thanks! CVA
What just happened to you with the waterline is exactly why I always take pictures and measurements then that way I know exactly where they’re at. I put them in her notebook album and anytime I need to dig a ditch. I checked the album to see where my lines are.🍻
user very wise.
Hi guy's that was a shame that happened as u were both working hard to get it done but u were lucky u could sort out well done.x
Don't Feel Bad! Years ago I was drilling property line fence post holes along a highway & I hit an AT&T Thousand Pair Cable major phone artery.
Another great video aside from the water leak. Y’all are so honest and down to earth. Love following you through your trials and tribulations.
Every time you bring up the wasp, I’m reminded of the Everyone Lives Raymond episode where Robert was spooked during painting. Lol
Great Job guys!😇!😇!
Your the best for things going wrong 😂 I love it , every episode
Y'all are just so enjoyable to watch.
Always put a tracer wire in the ditch with plastic water pipe. Unions (plus a coupling with piece of pipe if necessary) make these repairs SO much easier. You guys kept a good attitude which is the most important tool in the box.
I love watching you 2 working together. Rebecca is always smiling even after a minor catastrophe like this. But, I can't help but wonder what she is saying off camera.LOL You guys are troopers that take the bumps in the road calmly. My wife used to say the same thing about me. No need to throw a tantrum. Just stay calm and take care of what ever needs fixin'. Do you really have to bury water lines that deep where you live? I'm in SW Missouri and 2' is plenty deep around here.
I keep a container of Wet Ones in all my vehicles and a large container of Equate's wet wipes in my shop so that I can clean up before having to get into a vehicle. I find that they can even remove grease and oil so that it is safe to get in the truck and go.
Evan and Rebecca, I agree with Rebecca, almost every time I say this will be a quick job, it ends up taking at least three times as long, and possibly a trip to the hardware store. Glad the fix worked. I don’t think you will now have an issue with the inch and half you wanted to move that post. Enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing.
For future reference go to the water trough for cleaning off the muddy hands 😊. Just about got away with not having to fix the pipe - about 1 inch over and you would have been ok.
First clue.. "It looks like it wants to go sideways ;)" Congrats on the fix... was gonna note to put a stake marker where that fix is in case it fails later you will know exactly where to dig to fix.
Yep. Auger hits and wants to arc around the obstacle. All things considered lucky he sliced the pipe good and noticed instead of a slow leak that went un-noticed or damage that would leak later.
You need a narrow trench ladder. They come in handy for many other uses too.
Thanks 👍
Your To-do lists should include new valves to isolate the barn... add that asap.
At least you can fix these thing. Don't feel bad, you are just a part of the large crowd of people who have things like this happen to them. Two separate times my husband hit an electrical wire while drilling into drywall. Fortunately he felt it give and ended up just nicking the outside of the wires. He fixed it, but I still know where the wires are.
Great job you have water
So true Rebekah!
I enjoy both of you so much, and think you have great if not some of the best programming on TH-cam! I always look forward to each new video. God bless and keep you!
You're calmer than I would have been
Been there, done that. Got my TV cable not once but twice among other things!
I have a wall of shame too. Great effort putting it right, well done.
Welcome to my world. Plumbing.
But here in the mid south, the freeze line is 11" so water lines are only required to be 18" deep.
Love your honesty, now I don't feel so bad, I thought stuff like this only happens to me.
I feel like I'm in good company. I've hit a water line and a phone line with a post hole auger. 😂
The two of you really make a great team.
You had to have something to make another video on and this was it 👍.............................
Measure and plot placement of lines, it will save you lots of time and effort.
