Final Trim for Abby

Bobby Menker, CJF APF-I completes the shoeing of this 13 year old trail horse. Her hind feet are solid enough to handle the rides she is used for without shoes. However, Bobby makes sure he has left adequate hoof to give her protection on the trails. A lot of pleasure horses are able to go barefoot, at least behind, provided they receive regular care, not trimmed too short and are not going at speed on rough surfaces. The trim approach as far as balance is no different from the front, Bobby just makes sure to bevel the outer edges of the wall to help prevent chipping.
