  • If you own a Yamaha Rmax 2 or 4 seat or thinking about buying one, this upgrade is the first thing you should do hands down!! It is an absolute game changer, turns it into a totally different machine! Gets rid of 90% of the body roll on the high speed cornering, you don’t feel the small chatter and you can blast a lot bigger whoops faster and harder than could of even imagined with the stock springs! A schmidty racing suspension spring kit is the key, if you want to get the most out of your Yamaha rmax!

    Thank you posting this! I am so torn. I really really want the better ride from Schmidty springs. Just do not want the extra ride height over stock. Spoke with Tyler at Schmidty and he swears the extra ride height is not a problem. Im concerned about axels and losimg rock crawling capabilities as long as the machine becoming more tippy! You mentioned you lowered yours, but Schmidty says they designed them to run at the higher height. With you lowering them lower than their recommendation are you losing some of their intended performance? Also worth noting when I explained to tyler my height concern he didnt mention that I can or should lower it. Wonder why he left that part out?

      I was never really concerned with the extra ride height as the rmax4 is already very tall and too heavy stock, the reason we set ours lower knowing that we we going to sacrifice performance was the axle angles, at the time we shot this video, axles we’re next to impossible to get and there were no aftermarket support yet,I already had one clicking pretty bad and didn’t want to break one and be down for an unknown amount of time. Now that axles are pretty much readily available I’m probably going to adjust it to schmidtys recommendations for this riding season, I love the schmidty springs, they are game changers for the rmax platform!

    Is your garage door 7ft? I want the schmidty kit but worried about getting in and out of my garage. Thanks for the video! 👍

      My garage is 7’ and it doesn’t fit in my garage, it’s not even close but I’m aso running 32’s depending on your tire size you still might be able to get it in a 7’ opening, also I don’t have my rear setup per schmidty instructions, mine is significantly set lower

    Your video didn't show me anything, how to take the old springs off....how did you compress the spring to get the top cap on. I thought the directions were terrible. Very disappointed

    • @sledsandsxs1376
      @sledsandsxs1376  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darrylhoupt3763 we didn’t have a spring compressor, we just used a small punch and tapped the top lock nut loose then used a rag with a pair of big channels locks to turn the bottom locknut until we could turn it by hand.

    My rmax came from my dealer with upper springs bottomed out! I asked him he said that’s where they need to be , im calling BS

      Yeah, no way that a crushed tender spring should be like that, just cutting corners to save money!

      You can’t go be the settings in the directions, initially we set them per directions by and Jake and I did not like the axle angles especially the rear, we turned them way down and haven’t had a issue yet, super happy so far

    How’s the shocks holding up? Thinking this setup or therapy’s. I’m running a rmax sport and my back preload springs are like yours just flat as a pancake. Plus looking to smooth out St. Helen whoops for me

    • @sledsandsxs1376
      @sledsandsxs1376  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They’re holding up great so far! Feel the same as the day I put them without any adjustments, you should have better results with your sport because of the better shocks from the factory, if I remember right, the sports have more adjustability which will with tuning, by far my biggest complaint with the rmax was how horrible the stock suspension is! I went with the schmidty kit because I felt it was a better, more complete kit.

    How have the axles held up after a few months of riding? I installed Schmidty springs and can’t get rid of the severe clunking! Dealer replaced axles before the springs were installed and new axles still clunking! Man I love the ride some how gotta make it all work.

      I did not adjust the rear spring per directions, well at first we did and Jake and I did not like the axle angles so we basically turned them all they down in the rear till we were happy with the axle angles, so far I’m really happy and haven’t had any real issues, now I did have a axle that was popping before the spring install, and I can tell it’s a little louder now on when turning, but hasn’t got any worse I’m still running it, as for the other rear axle, zero issues no noises or ripped boots or anything

    Nice! Been looking at the Shock therapy springs myself…did you look at them?

    • @sledsandsxs1376
      @sledsandsxs1376  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I looked at both kits, and the reason I went with schmidty is they seemed to offer more for your money in my opinion, they give you new beefier rubber bushings that separate the two springs, new billet end caps and some billet preload spacers.

    Did that help with the rear tire contact in the wheel well?

    • @sledsandsxs1376
      @sledsandsxs1376  ปีที่แล้ว

      It did at first, but we didn’t like the axle angles so we dropped down to just about stock height, i more after ride quality not so much lift, they rub still but barely

    can you explain the drive shaft length part a little more? is it adjustable?

    • @sledsandsxs1376
      @sledsandsxs1376  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically the drive shaft length is not adjustable but the more preload you put on the springs the higher it will sit, less preload the lower it will sit but it not like drop or raise it this much it will have x amount of ride height, schmidty does a great job explaining where a good start point should be set at, then it up to you depending on you application and riding style what works best for you, I’m actually gonna pull some more preload out of the rear, still got a lot of playing around to do to see where the sweet spot is
