You definitely like to play with fire (also grease) Mr Plays, all those fights without a full rest. The Orb is the Netherese magical thing inside Gale, that he has been feeding with magical items. Shads has quite low Strength, which mean that she will miss a little more and do less damage with most melee weapons. The sword has a +1 enchantment which is helping a bit. I did suggest giving her a few more Str points, but you went with the default when you visited Withers, which gave her more Dex. That’s not bad - it makes her move earlier in battle, and makes her harder to hit. You can equip her with a crossbow (she can use a heavy Xbow thanks to her Tempest specialisation), go the dual shortsword route, or just focus more on the magic. Guiding Bolt is very good spell for a bread and butter attack, if you save Lvl1 spells by casting less of the protection/healing spells. It's not as critical as with the Rogues due to the smaller difference, but Dex weapons should be 10% more likely to hit than Str weapons (the +1 enchantment on Phalar Aluve is worth 5%). Even if not attacking with the Phalar Aluve, you can use it to Sing, increasing the chance of allies within 6m hitting their attacks by 12.5% (presumably helps her too). (Shrieking makes enemies within 6m take 1-4 extra damage instead).
Ooooooooh. The ORB orb! Yes. Well of course we couldn’t FIND the dratted thing then as it’s stuck inside Gale! Ha! You could tell we were battle fatigued of course. Thank you for your usual extremely useful tips. I shall peruse and USE Sir Robert. Regarding our Shads…..what you point out of course makes sense! I’m glad we allowed her to retain her dexterity. We did ask her to get into the fray with her sword a bit more than usual and she did drop some close combat opportunities a few times….by MISSING! Ranged and spells for offence and support was what we primarily hoped from her. As well as being Dilberry the Pickles PPRREA’s future WIFE of course. We shall remember the powers of the Phalar Aluve too! Ooooo! Dual shortswords for Shads too? Hmmmm! And a crossbow! Will take that under serious consideration.
Oh no… my heart is BREAKING as you return to the grove and you’re thinking everything is okay! The sinking feeling of realizing you have to go back and redo a ton of stuff is the worst. I don’t think anyone’s able to play this game without bumbling a few things and needing to time travel back, though, haha. The tieflings are worth it, though! I know Shads is your dream girl but she does miss ALL THE TIME, haha. Woo, Minthara knocked out and looted (again), and inventory successfully managed for now. It really is such a slog trying to decide which gear is best for which character. OH YEAH 2.0, THE FINAL VERSION, LET’S DO THIS (again)! Lol @ Chock attacking the chicken instead of doing anything helpful 🐔 All done (again), and you even did it bootless, apparently! Shads REALLY does miss constantly. I’m not sure enough of the mechanics of the game to know why, her stats or whatever it is that affects it, but her weapon just never seems to make contact with ANYTHING, lol. Oh, maybe in this fight, it’s because she has a “threatened” status effect right now? Idk 🤷♀️ Uh oh. Looks like you did NOT mean to stumble into this goblin battle. Good luck! Heavens, that was a CLOSE ONE! 😮😮 Looking forward to the next outing!
On the mechanics AM: Her default stats aren’t very great with weapons. 13 Str is +1 for melee and 13 Dex is +1 for ranged/finesse attacks. She has the firebolt cantrip due to being an elf, which uses Int, but she/clerics don’t have high Int (10, +0), so this is inaccurate. She has the sacred flame cantrip which gives the opponent a saving throw instead of using an attack roll, and how easy the saving throw is depends on the opponents Dex, which is often high, especially with creatures and small things like goblins (Sacred Flame can be good against enemies with low Dex if you find them). These factors make all of these attacks inaccurate. But she starts with 17 in Wisdom which gives her a nice +3 modifier to cleric spell attacks, so if you’re using spells like Guiding Bolt she’s great. If she is Tempest like Dilberry’s Shadowheart, Thunder Wave / Shatter can’t miss (enemies get a Con based save to reduce damage to half). Spirit Guardians too, just Wis save to receive half damage. Her Wis can be pushed up to 18 for a +4 modifier at Lvl4 with the Ability improvement feat. Ability points only give bonuses on even numbers, so a little tweak with Withers to raise her Str or Dex to 14, while dropping either Wis to 16 or the other one to 10/11 can make her a little better with weapons. But once she hits level 5+ she’s really about the magic anyways.
@@robertsandiford6223 thanks for the time for this very detailed reply! I’ll admit that I still don’t know much about DnD mechanics so much of this explanation is lost on me. There’s a lot to learn! I pretty much used Shadowheart for spellcasting when I had her in my party. Spirit Guardians and the summon weapon spell saved me more times than I could ever remember!
I got the same message in Act II when going to Act III. Turns out I missed a quest that was important to the story and had to Google what to do as it wasn’t obvious to me. If you think you’re all done with Act II and moving forward will cause a party member to stay behind, then you’ve missed a quest. Good news is that you can fix it by completing the quest.
I was very worried when you went to the Mountain Pass before finishing the Grove but I’m glad you went back 😅 this is why I save constantly. Looking forward to the next adventure!
Believe me dilberry, I messed up moving forward not finishing up loose ends before on my first playthrough. Glad to be here on this new episode of this fun journey nonetheless, keep up the grind friend 😎
@@dilberryplaysone thing I forgot to mention, the next time you reach the goblin temple, there’s a room full of barrels!! Better get them before moving on 😉.
Yes, Master Dilberry, sadly if you continue to the next act without completing main plot points it will cancel out access to certain places. The issue with Wyll is he was tasked with hunting someone who is around the north eastern area and what you saw with Mizora is what happens if you leave the first Act without his quarry. And remember my friend save after every major battle! This will then keep you from having to repeat it in case of another time warp 😉 Also, if you're fond of dogs, you can find one to be a companion in your camp. He's near the river and blighted village. All the best, Zara 💜🖤
Just remember to quick save after every fight and big Role play event. F5 is your friend. You can also just except what happened and keep going. This game is so diverse, with making things so different from run to run, because some of the simplest decisions can change who and what NPC do latter. The replay ability of this game is huge. keep these videos going its fun to see and hear your take on the stories of faerun.
Hallo! Thank you for your thoughts! It always feels as if anything can happen in this colourful and vibrant place yes? And dangerous, frustrating and terrifying…..
@@dilberryplays I hope you are enjoying it as much as i have just watching you react to the adventure you are discovering. You seem like someone I would have fun with at the table. I have played with people that you would fit right in with at a one off or long term, by weekly game. you know the importance of having fun. Thanks for sharing your playthrough.
Yes indeed. It’s a wonderful journey. The thought of sitting around a table with friends and constructing a free flowing adventure sounds like listening to a story being told that we make up as we go. I’m envious of you! It sounds marvellous. Monument and I have been inventing and exploring an epic story for a while now….it is slowly developing….perhaps it could be the spine for such an adventure in its own right. What fun is the imagination!
another brilliant video Dil!! just got done with my own DnD session and it was nice unwind with another outing from out favorite pack of missfits. Until next time companions
Hallo there! We hope your adventuring was exciting, jouyful and not too dangerous!!! Monument says he does not want to meet dragons and then added something disparaging about my performance in dungeons…..pffft.
Sorry you had to redo this, but glad you said "no". there is much rejoicing ahead! FYI as a druid, they can shape change more than once a day into an animal. If they loose all their hit points as an animal, they revert back to a person and can shift into an animal again. Also, any time you want to "help" a character that is having a bad day, it takes an action, so may want to do that then see what possible things you can do on the turn afterwards. Have you done much with alchemy yet?
Hallo! Thank you for more helpful guidance! Everything we have been through and done is in Monument’s records…..we…um…have been a bit reticent to explore alchemy so far, as you’ll see from the absence of said activity…... I fear we would become so absorbed in it we would never return!!! That said I have mentioned it a few times in the field as something we “should” have a go at!
When I played this, Halsin got murdered by Minthara. I think I was on a slightly harder difficulty and Minthara came along and killed him from full health in one turn with multiple attacks. So it will be interesting for me to see the Halsin storyline that I missed in your playthrough.
Sir Robert. That sounds AWFUL! We have just arrived at our latest camp and have had some nice chats with Halsin which I’m sure you will therefore find soothing.
