This is an intermediate video for creatives learning how to vectorize their hand-lettering or calligraphy! For the first step that involves editing/cleaning up the lettering in photoshop, see this video: • How to Digitize Callig...
Yes, the tutorial is SLOW. It's purposely SLOW to try to actually teach people how to use the program haha!
Please keep in mind, there is never just ONE right way to do something, especially within any of the Adobe programs. If you have a different way to vectorize and want to share it with others, please leave a comment below (but try to avoid linking to other videos). Thanks friends!!

Great tutorial! Thank you for sharing.
One question: because it takes longer, does this mean I should charge more if vectorizing for letterpress? Than just for flat printing 🤔

Beginner, here! Just finished my first vectorized piece following your video :) What format does the file need to be saved as for printing? Hand lettering cards, prints, etc. Automatically, AI tries to save it as an "ai" file? Could you please explain? Thanks ElisaAnne

Thanks for a great tutorial! Btw, is it better to photograph your calligraphy sample or scan before vectorizing?

This is the best explanation I've found for this so far. So I would not need to vectorize my lettering if I'm creating printables? Thanks so much for sharing!!

it depends on how crisp you want the logo to be- vectoring turns it from pixels into a mix of geometric points so that you can infinitely make it bigger or smaller without it getting pixelated

In the beginning of the video you said this image is already photoshopped, what exactly did you mean? I thought the tutorial was photoshopping to smooth out the lines? Can you help me understand? Sorry I’m a beginner 🙃

Hi Olivia! Have you read the description for the video? First you have to clean up your lettering in photoshop before pulling it into Illustrator! This video is for vectorizing it in Illustrator. I have a video for the photoshop step as well if you need that one. Hope that helps.
