Very interesting to see the actual construction of this lens array and close up. I have been looking into this kind of led array for a project but bigger power. I found they are easily available at 4-6 times lower price than new, but I am not sure how many hours of life they have left. I guess I'll have to just try and see...
Any ideas to correct divergecy? We can put cylidrical lens above the protection glass, to correct fast axis. Compare to nubm35, this diode have agressive divergency, according to less focal range of primary lens, that you removed
Can't wait to get the RGB version. They're supposed to be releasing it within the coming months. Im not exactly sure what form factor they will follow. If they'll all be on one module, or what. But I've got a contact who sells a lot of scalped nichia stuff on ebay and AliExpress....Even stuff that is experimental or not supposed to be sold.... I've got some really cool crazy deep UV LED and laser diode stuff from him in the past. Pure unobtainium. And I think he's getting a few RGB versions here in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed
Why cant you just buy from nichia ive always wondered? Im sure some hobbyists could manage a min ordee and theres literally no way to reach out to them. So i keep getting "nubm44" diodes from ebay from some guy in new jersey that might be4w 5w very rarely 7... i dont get it most big companies with websites and ai its easier for them to deal with the public idk wht they dont. So these dirtbags buy a bunch of plpt9 and sell em ss nubm44 and theres no real recourse
I put this here cause it is the newest video. Just found you. Could you do Chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion, Water Peak, and stepped mode index fibers? Always wanted to know more about these. Aditional, Also optical Circulators construction operation, and splitter manufacturing. weather 50/50 or 95/5 anything. How do Multiplexors work as well.
Its from a normal disposable razor. When you carefully crack open the head you will find 3-5 of these, depending on the type you disassemble. They are made from really thin steel and thus can be quite useful for detaching glued objects.
It was a simple Constant Current / Constant Voltage power supply module with and LCD screen (you can see it in the background). I had no problems with any of my laser diodes. The important thing is that you ramp up the voltage until you reach the desired current and do not rely too much on the current regulation of the supply + dont connect the diodes while the output of the power supply is already on.
Oh so you didnt use a driver between the diode array and power supply? I suppose if you have a quality power supply, you wouldn't have any problems with current fluctuating. Very interesting.
@@npatel111I wouldnt call it a high quality PSU. There is some minor ripple current, but its not an issue. High power laser diodes are also less sensitive in my experience and often dont contain monitor photo diodes anyways - so you just drive them at their rated current. If you stay a bit below the maximum rating of the diodes it should work very well.
@@DiffractionLimited honestly I'd rather a strong accent and phone recorded to the ai voice. 😁 You make great stuff either way mate. Whatever works for you is best just perhaps don't be afraid of being yourself you know?
Very nice look at laser diodes! Amazing how you stripped it down to the bare chip
Wouldn't that require removing the glass as well if it was to be stripped down to the bare chip?
@@zaprodk Yeah I mean technically this isn't the bare chip at all but you know what I mean
Wow nice details and image quality! thanks for creating and sharing!

what a video!!! many thanks
These would be a great pump source for a dye jet laser for a compact tunable light source.😊
Nice!! What about a NUBM31 diode practical demonstartion?
Nice Video. :) Which wire is positive, which negative? Green positive, blue negative?
My datasheet is incomplete.
Yes, blue is negative.

Sounds very interesting. Maybe you can make a small video to show some of these devices.

What do you guys do with these things? Besides playing around with them.
Have you experimented with any single collimating lenses after the stock array was removed?
How do we focus this laser diode array to small point.?
How to couple with fiber ?
Is OM3 or OM4 appropriate or only OS2 ? Something else ? Which PLC to combine at the lowest price ?
enoyed quite a bit and learned lots
What does "brigness [sic] range" mean?

Laser diode drivers you used in this video?
Its a simple generic CV / CC Power supply module, nothing special. You can find them on ebay.
What is that razor blade from? :)
(Ps I don’t mind the voice at all and the information is clear!)

no close up shots of the diodes?!!
So $66 for the diode array? The required heat sink is almost as impressive and appears it might cost more like $6600!
"milliampia [sic]"?
AI voices are annoying
Why the computer voice man? It's really off putting.
English is not my native language + I lack audio recording hardware.

@@DiffractionLimited Did you change the audio? I didn't find this voice bad at all. Breat video!
@@1kreature Yes, in the earlier videos I used a different TTS. Now I use the Bark Text to Speach neural network within a custom python script.
I love the voice. Dont listen to this ungrateful mfers man. Great work. Thank you!
horrible sounding voice encoding. like realplayer in the 90s
how much current can it handle with pulsed mode?
whats with the weird voice sound?
