I was in Tokyo at time. The Shuto-ko highway is pretty much 2 a lane loop around Tokyo. Even driving safely, I think it’s 5x crazier than racing on the NY FDR. Speeding on that highway needs insane courage.
I think its so awesome how unlike other industries, major car corporations genuinely care about not just keeping up their products but pushing the boundaries of what can be in their cars. They work to give the consumers their best, and then shoot for more. It’s just such a wonderful thing.

In 1990 Japan, you can get a new base trim S13 J's from the dealer showroom with a part time or minimum wage job. Bubble era Japanese has more money to spend than today.
I saw somewhere that one of the guys had a car that he paid something ungodly like over $1,000,000 (In 1980s/90s money) in upgrades and such, for his car. These guys weren't messing around.

Good job, guys - wholesome content. I was a lonely kid, and it's what got me into cars. I used to park my '97 shitbox Corolla a block away from the car show, and then walk to go hangout and learn everything I could. 300zx was my first car. James do a new Z Up to Speed please. the one you made in 2017 does not have the same editing and passion you have in other videos.
Let's I get it straight, 300hp is a LOT of power. In comparison no, but giving a young driver that much power is dangerous. Traction control makes you think other wise
@@H20nas Because most Americans have not driven such a car on winding roads. Our roads are wide and straight here, and especially in the midwest the horizon is wide and flat, making acceleration to 100mph feel like it takes an eternity unless your engine makes over 350hp. Plus America is also the land of drag racing, big displacement and big torque. They enjoy heavy cars that go VERY fast in a 1/4 mile. I grew up in IL while being a huge JDM fanboy and it killed me that very few people around me at the time had any appreciation for Japanese cars or their tuning culture.
really good stuff guys, i was using a drill when James did his "bean, be-bean-ean-ean- beann" think and i had to stop and see wth was going on. Entertaining content all arround.
