I have four 414’s from the 2017 “special custom” run of 462 pieces … as this lot was the first 414’s to have the Victorian inlay markers and holds binding up the neck (matching the binding of the body) ❤… a feature that not all 414’s have on examples of the model after this date and application of the new style fret markers… as earlier 414’s almost always held bound necks from prior to 2016 installments, where the “2017 special custom” group additional carry Engelman spruce over the later Sitka spruce that followed future 2018 builds and beyond as they released additional “special custom” pieces… but that 2017 run (per Taylor representative email confirmation)… was a more rare construction as being the launch of the model to carry the Victorian markers and matching binding along the neck 😊
An extra grand for minute changes is crazy. If there is a significant tonal difference, thats a diffrrent story. Is there a significant tonal difference? No.

That armrest will make me get the 814ce every single time. It’s so comfortable and game-changing for how long I play acoustic
Could you do a 814ce vs 816ce Builder's Edition? I'm saying 814ce Standard and not the Builder's Edition just to use it as an etalon.
nice demo song

If I’m not mistaken, Taylor also uses a higher quality spruce and rosewood on the 800 series.
