In Twister "going green" is quoted in the movie. If you've been in any kind of severe weather in your life green skies are common so I think the green tint is fitting in some of the scenes from the trailer. The Twister blu-ray is so outdated and there are scenes that are "lighter" but should be "darker" so I'm probably more excited than any other movie to come to 4k. If you guys are outside of the Midwest maybe that's why you don't have the same appreciation for Twister as we do. Also the Steak and Eggs scene is one of the greatest food scenes ever put to film.
I was only impressed by a few scenes in Interstellar on my first watch, then the last 20 mins took me out. Shortly after, it played on my mind for weeks that I needed to give it another go and I'm glad I did. The score is fantastic.
I pre-ordered the Twister Steelbook. I was about 12-13 when it came out and we had a brand new movie theater open a mile from my house. The visuals AND audio were state of the art at the time and it was the first movie I saw at the new theater, I'll never forget it.
I was 14 in 1996 and had a pretty similar story for the theater I first saw it in. That same theater showed Twister again in the years since. Once when Bill Paxton passed away and then again during Covid and I went both times.
My babysitter made me sneak into Pet Sematary when I was 8, and that scared the hell out of me. Then the neighbors let me watch Friday the 13th one night and my mom called and said I had to walk home, in the dark. I never ran so fast in my life. 😂
Couple things: 1. Twister is awesome!🌪️ 2. The Twister disrespect is out of control! 3. “Going Green” is a quote mentioned in the movie, referring to the weather phenomenon. 4. They actually released the 4K trailer on TH-cam if you wanna look at it in motion. I think it looks good imo. 5. Great Show Guys 😂
Matt was good to know someone else liked Real Genius. You guys get physical media and its relationship to film. I can't really catch them live but I do enjoy these streams. Today much of it with dinner.
@4K_Kings Someone at Sony must love it too. I remember watching it on I believe HBO when it first came to cable instead of studying for college finals.
Hey guys, I missed everything but the very end but it was a fun catchup. Roasts were a hoot and I bet they could grow into a fun signature segment for the end of the live show if you wanted. My favorite was Russ saying, “Rehydrating? What does that even mean?” *takes a drink*
“Humans Being” was the last single Van Halen released with Sammy Hagar as their lead singer. It was a huge hit for them at the time. Unfortunately, it came out after their last record with Hagar singing lead vocals (Balance). They did manage to record two other songs with Hagar singing lead for a greatest hits compilation (Up For Breakfast and It’s About Time) released later. Both of those songs are actually pretty good and better than anything on VHIII (with Gary Cerone on vocals) and A Different Kind of Truth (with Roth singing lead and their final studio album).
Can’t stop the music is an example of the glut of pop dance films that proliferated the 80s Village People starred directed by Hollywood film and TV legend Nancy Walker (McMillian and Wife) , it’s probably now seen as a classic but at the time…. Ahem.
Another great stream gentlemen. I was taken to see The Exorcist as a 9 year old. There was no place to hide. ....I also really enjoy American Hustle and am waiting on the steel as it's tied to another preorder.
FYI, Indian Paintbrush is the label that I always see featured when a new Wes Anderson Film is released, but i'm not sure if that means anything, but this label always puts out Wes Anderson Films, that's for sure.
I’ll be definitely picking up “Dogfight” and “Risky Business” during the Criterion sale. I still need to also pick up that “Hollywood Shuffle” blu-ray. I have to watch my Criterion blu-ray of “The Last Emperor” to see if I need to upgrade it during the November sale.
Thanks! We have slowly upgraded over time. We are using a lower mid range Canon camera and a Shure SM7B (Russ) and Electro Voice (Matt) microphones. Thanks for noticing!
2025 will be the 40th anniversary of The Breakfast Club. Do you think we'll get a 4k restoration? I'm hoping. 🙏🏽 FYI : Digital codes are good even after the date given except with WB movies because WB is desperate for your dollars.
@4K_Kings It was entered into the library of Congress(the same as "Once Upon a Time in The West"), so I hope they consider it important enough to give us a 4k. I don't know who holds the rights, though.
I am passing on Twister. My favorite new announcement is Second Sights 4k boxset for A Bittersweet Life. Such a fun film... I preordered both Nolan boxsets. Love both films.
“Bad Boys” is a banger, but “Can’t Stop The Music” 4K? Kino Lorber, WTF? Of all the crap to put out on 4K, this absolutely does not require a 4K. I was dragged to see this movie as a child by my parents at our local secondary school run theater and by my child hood movie critiquing standards (which weren’t much) I hated it. Mind you as a child I watched “Star Crash” at the local second run theater and enjoyed it. So, there were my standards. Also, let’s talk about how my parents dropped me off to watch a double feature of “Star Crash” and some other random movie by myself, but never did that for me for “Star Wars”. I had to wait until 1980 to see that in a theater. Talk about child abuse, LOL!
Interstellar is a three hour bore fest. Saw it at the theaters and fell asleep. Could have been trimmed down forty minutes, it's a slog to get through. But some people love slow plotting three hour movies about boring subject matter. ( Nasa and outer space ).
Defintely go for After Hours Scorsese made the film after his frustration at The Last Temptation of Christ being delayed as such it’s almost guerilla filmmaking shot 95% at night over a short period its a classic. Matt I review all new Criterion releases on my channel #letstalkcriterion I also like Albert Brooks and I’ve been waiting on Real Life especially.
Thanks to everyone for hanging out with us last night! See everyone soon!

Albert Brooks has the best voice !
Interestingly enough Matt rumor has it big top pee-wee is actually getting a 4k before big adventure.
Also James woods is a national treasure

You forgot Learning to See by Van Halen with Hagar in 2004
Mother, day one
Something Wicked this Way comes scared the shit outta me niccas

Like alexzorba said, great podcast. I kiss my 4k steelbooks that are dented. It takes some of the pain away.

The Grey by Carnahan is awesome if you haven't seen it.
Of course I miss the live with a giveaway. :(
What mics and camera do you guys use? Your setup always looks and sounds so good! The sound is really really on point.
Thanks! We have slowly upgraded over time. We are using a lower mid range Canon camera and a Shure SM7B (Russ) and Electro Voice (Matt) microphones. Thanks for noticing!
@@4K_Kings Thanks guys 💚

I still haven't bought the Criterion Blu hoping for a 4K upgrade. It will inevitably come out in 4K, but from whom...?

Kino is forced to release some titles bc of licensing. They also had to release Staying Alive
So did russ think think true lies is mid?
I think Russ has always thought it was mid, but I'll let him comment
I did even at 12 in the movie theater... Bill Paxton aside, of course.
@@russceasetheruss5360 bill won’t even the best thing in that movie. It was Arnold of course lol
😯

The constant space jargon pissed me off. I turned it off half way through.
Wow your audience has the same level of humor as an A24 film 🙄
interstellar sucks its got the dumbest tropes in it
That's what I'm scared of... I'm a Nolan fan, but I'm not going to pretend he's strong when it comes to emotional content.
