Awesome reaction! It mostly is “live” live. There are a few parts here and there that they added additional harmonies and piano parts in the background, but for the majority of the time it was just their voices live. They’re so talented, it’s nuts!
I believe all these songs are from one self-titled Beyoncé album. My understanding is that this is a live performance, with their producer friend Ben Bram on the piano.
@@EliaKay1 Could be, but it's very much in Ben's style. And I'm pretty sure they said this was a live performance, which leads me to think the piano is live too. I don't know for sure. But compare the piano style to their Evolution of Miley Cyrus. That one was definitely Ben.

Both the arrangements, piano and background singing. What you see them doing on screen is live, but they do add other things to it like almost all their other medleys
I was waiting for a comment on how tight the duo was. Entrances, endings, tempo changes...they were perfectly in sync. Not only a testament to their amazing musicality but also how many years they've sung together. I think one of the reasons PTX is so amazing is that the "trio" of Mitch, Scott, and Kirstie have such a long history together and complement each other so well.

Lesley Tate yeah it’s definitely them on the harmonies, just overdubbed as part of the backing track separate from the live recording (it might just be mitch actually, i know on one superfruit medley the credits say “backing vocals - mitch” but i forget which one)
This is an incredible video, and they both are in perfect form. They said that Beyonce actually tweeted them that she heard it and thought it was fabulous! The Pentatonix Beyonce Medley video is also great, and they all have solo parts in it.

As a vocal coach,you really need to hear Scott do “I should tell yo mama on you” a Red cover. Scottie goes from a bass obstinate to high baritone. It’s as if he’s doing a two-part counterpoint thing. You’ll be amazed!

I would suggest reacting to some of their originals. A huge fan favorite is GUY.EXE, but my personal favorite is Future Friends which is also the title of their album.
If I'm being totally honest, I love love some of their arrangement more than Bey songs themselves. I always come back to this video whenever im in the mood for Superfruit, one of their most iconic rendition for sure.

Yes this is live, with the added piano and few additional harmonies here and there. All their sit down recordings like these are live, even with ptx. You should react to pentatonix - AHA singapore, its great! Im also not sure if its "live", but you can clearly hear added effects and harmonies/ fillers recorded seperately so it wouldnt surprise me if its slightly autotuned on some notes. Either way we all now they can hit those notes and they sound amazing! :)

I know it's old, now, but I don't see that you did Superfruit's Rihanna Anti Medley. I'm interested in your opinion because it's my favorite of these types of medleys they did back then. There are just so many "whoa" moments for me.
What I really enjoy about you is that unlike so many other "vocal coach reacts to..." videos on TH-cam, you are clearly a legitimate trained singer and vocal coach. Your presence is so formal and yet you react to a variety af different styles and clearly love music of different genres. When you repeat a run (as in this video) I'm amazed at how effortless it seems and how spot on you are to the person you're reviewing. Thank you for sharing. Sincerely, a new subscriber.
This was a one take in studio, so I'm pretty sure it's tweaked there and there (also they added some harmonies to have three layers of sound complimenting the two of them), similar to what they do on their black background covers in Pentatonix
I love how the first few vocal reactions you would pause and analyse a lot of the videos, now it’s almost as if you’ve taught us enough to hear all the little intricacies of the vocal stylings (and some of the faults) enough to where you just give your review at the end

I love that Beyonce herself reacted to this video in a Facebook post. The boys had it posted on their Twitter for awhile. They don't want to sound like her. They want to BE her! Both of them. So they were beyond ecstatic when she responded that it was "PERFECT," I think was the referential phrase she used. Right? (I have memory issues so anyone else who remembers please do chime in) EDIT: FLAWLESS! That's what she said. =)

Anytime you’re watching one of theirs or Pentatonix’s medleys or even songs in the studio they’re doing it live. Mary Catherine who works at Endless Noise studios where the record a lot of their videos like this said they come in so prepared that it usually only takes them a couple times to get the perfect take. Wouldn’t mind seeing you react to more of their medleys. They have Rihanna, Lady Gaga, the empire medley, Miley Cyrus and more.
My favourite of their medleys is their Anti medley, mixing together Rihanna's Anti album. I feel like it's a great representation of their artistry, and vocal ability.

I know that super fruit doesn't have to stick to the acapella definitions when they sing but I know they try to do things in one take but they do have looping I hear sometimes. So it's probably kind of a mixture of they're doing this life and trying to get it done in one take but they have a background playing. That's where the bloopers are great! Especially on hip hop goes Broadway 1, and Hip Hop goes Broadway 2! The bloopers at the end of those are the best! Scott is known for forgetting lyrics and he's adorable when he does it because he just acts like this little kid and like he's having a blonde moment at the same time. I can say blond moment because I'm blond. So for me and it's unfortunately quite applicable. Yeah sometimes it takes them several tries before they get it right. I was kind of reading through the comments hoping somebody else knew more than I'm guessing about their format. I wonder too. Some things are definitely live for instance Defying Gravity and Frozen Medley featuring Kirstin Maldonado. La La Land featuring Kirstin Maldonado is also definitely live and all three are done theatrically with a dose of Comedy and some great vocals as well as some really bad ones (usually on purpose) . Love Scott & Mitch! Add Kirstin and the three childhood friends are going to crack up laughing at some point. 😊
Superfruit’s Pop Goes Broadway ft Shoshana Bean is wonderful too! And yes, it is really live. In most of their videos there is a pretty extended blooper real that is really fun too!
This is a cover of an entire album and at the end they mix some of theses songs. This is totally live, except come parts where they have added a third voice to make the arrangement give some extra punch.
This was definitely live one-take video, as they stated in a Q&A. Most of their music videos, except for the ones done for their Future Friends album, are all live vocals. One of my favorites, that doesn't have many people doing reactions to it, is Pop Goes Broadway with Broadway Star Shoshana Bean (who played Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway). Which leads me to another live video that I think you would love, Defying Gravity by Superfruit (from Wicked).
These types of videos from Superfruit are indeed live, they often include mess-ups in the end from when they didn't get it right, or when it's "really bad", it's all done in one take, and they start completely over if they mess it up, so you just see the "best take" in these :)
We would loooove it if you reacted to Superfruit's "Frozen Medley," including the bloopers. There's soooooooooo much there to comment on! So much interesting content! So many different types of singing in the video. 👍 🙂
I believe almost all, if not all, of their medleys (both pentatonix and superfruit) are recorded live, you can see their bloopers on their channel too. Question tho, why did they say it was so bad at the end (blooper)? I could not for my life figure out what went wrong, lol
I'm pretty sure that when they do these medleys (and the "evolution of..." series) they do them live in a straight-through take (although it may take them multiple takes to get it spot-on, hence the funny array of outtakes that they often have at the end).

I always think of Scott's voice as dark, smooth chocolate and Mitch's voice as salty sweet caramel. Together they are delicious.

there was no auto tune. there was a bit of reverb added to the vocal and some small compression to bring out their tones. NO autotune though.
They do add in the background vocals, but they do what you see live.
Scott prepares the background track with piano and occasional background vocals, then they sing live over it.

This was definitely live one-take video, as they stated in a Q&A. Most of their music videos, except for the ones done for their Future Friends album, are all live vocals. One of my favorites, that doesn't have many people doing reactions to it, is Pop Goes Broadway with Broadway Star Shoshana Bean (who played Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway). Which leads me to another live video that I think you would love, Defying Gravity by Superfruit (from Wicked).

These types of videos from Superfruit are indeed live, they often include mess-ups in the end from when they didn't get it right, or when it's "really bad", it's all done in one take, and they start completely over if they mess it up, so you just see the "best take" in these :)

I believe almost all, if not all, of their medleys (both pentatonix and superfruit) are recorded live, you can see their bloopers on their channel too. Question tho, why did they say it was so bad at the end (blooper)? I could not for my life figure out what went wrong, lol

I'm pretty sure that when they do these medleys (and the "evolution of..." series) they do them live in a straight-through take (although it may take them multiple takes to get it spot-on, hence the funny array of outtakes that they often have at the end).
Please review anything Pentatonix/Superfruit, they are really talented people. Singers can learn a lot from their improving technique.
