I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.
yes I was at Earls Court in London, watching the Pulse concert. I have seen many concerts live, but absolutely nothing compares to this. unbelievable music making so very Artistic a Masterpiece.
I love this song; thanks for reacting to this version. It has such a wonderful light show. The second guitarist is named Tim Renwick. He isn't a member of Pink Floyd but it a highly-regarded player in his own right. He has known the members of Pink Floyd for years. Here's a quote I found from an article from 1994, at the time of this Pulse tour: '"I go way back with the band," explains Renwick, "I actually went to school with Roger Waters and Syd Barrett. They were four years older than me, but I remember them quite clearly. Yes, they were very cool. Roger made history by refusing to join the cadet force -- he was a bit of a rebel. And Syd, believe it or not, was my patrol leader in the Scouts! He was a very impressive and charismatic bloke, as was Roger." What about David? "Dave was very much one of my early heroes," Renwick continues. "He went to a different school, but I used to see his band regularly. His pre-Floyd band was called Joker's Wild, and they were the hot group in town." "I actually remember bumping into Dave the night he was asked to join Pink Floyd, which is another interesting point of reference. Little did I know that I would end up playing in the same band 25 years later."
Wow, aren't you just a little bundle of effervescent light & energy😉 Fantastic reaction to an unbelievable performance lass, great stuff🤘 Please consider reacting to Take it Back from this same concert please, thank you!
I was lucky enough to see the Division Bell Tour 2x in Florida in 1994.. Still to this day the best shows I've seen at and I'm 60, I've seen many. Love your channel..
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
My employer (Labatt Breweries of Canada) was the sponsor for the three shows in Montreal, they were offering employees discounted tickets, in addition to a draw of a few dozen tickets I bought mine for May 23 and I won those (a pair) for May 24. Some people have asked me, "Why are you going to see this show twice?" When they finally saw the DVD of this show a few years later, they understood why I was there twice.
We took our kids (teens) & one each of their friends to see this tour. (no self interest ? HAH!) It was perfection itself. It was bliss & awe. It was spiritual.
The remixed/remastered version from Delicate Sound of Thunder is amazing also. Such a fantastic song. It's literally about Gilmour and Mason learning how to fly. They're both pilots. :D
i was at Earl Court London with my Dad ( god rest his soul ) greatest concert we went to together :) your reactions to the "Floyd" are amazing , my dad saw them 6 times :) x
that pulseconcert started out as the division bell tour they actually had a blimp flying around ft lauderdale and miami thats where the tour started in march 94 every venue was outdoors here in miami was at joe robbie stadium they performed the pulse concert indoors at earls court in london
Yeah you're right. But they had an old baseball stadium way before the Marlin's came to town. You are probably not as old as I am to remember it. It was called the Bobby Maduro Miami baseball stadium 🏟️. I'm 61 yrs. Young. Pink Floyd did a concert there in 1977.They played songs from albums Dark side of the moon, Wish you were here,. I lived in Pompano Beach at the time, now I live in Orlando 🤣 You ought to look up who Bobby Maduro was. He was a Cuban who loved baseball. He was forced to leave Cuba in the early 60s. He tried to create the international league which did not make it. So long story short the Miami baseball stadium was named after him. So that's why I don't think you're as old as I am. 🎧⚰️😢🧐 With age comes wisdom my friend. 🤯🌴😵🤭GO Marlin's⚾⚾⚾⚾
@@johnbusboy6818 check it out dude. Their first Norh American Tour was from Feb. 1968 to Dec. 1968 the Wall came out in 1979. Buddy my friend you are conversing with someone who has been a Pink Floyd fan for life. You can look all this stuff up on the internet 😜🙂
Another great KEY reaction!! I always felt this song was terminally underrated, as is the one I am about to suggest to you for a future reaction: Run Like Hell, from the same Pulse concert 1994 by the one and only Pink Floyd! It's your KEY reaction of the week, believe it!! Wishing you continued success with your excellent channel, Key!!
I've seen Pink Floyd first time was the animals tour then DSOT tour and then the pulse tour and when you think they can't top there last concert you will be amazed and for the people that has not seen the Floyd live sorry for your lost and i have seen a lot of concerts starting in the early seventies and no band can come close to the show that pink Floyd puts on
Thank you so much for reacting to this. I always felt youd really enjoy it. Please react to the David Gilmour Live in Pompeii concert. Specifically to the song 5am. A complete David Gilmour instrumental. That entire concert is with a 70 year old man in a black Tshirt shredding for more than 2 hrs. Key I think you will absolutely love it. Watching David will just blow your mind.
Agree completely - the Pompeii gig is amazing. I love ‘High Hopes’ with its lovely acoustic intro and outro- such a contrast to tracks like ‘Sorrow’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’!
David Gilmour is one of the biggest rock stars in history but it hasn't stopped him from being a proper English gentleman. Who else in rock says "Thank you very much indeed, good evening!"? Nobody.
thank you for this reaction! if you want to do another pink floyd song i suggest "on the turning away", really nice song n lyrics. new sub here, cheers from chile.
First time anyone has mentioned the Bass player, GUY PRATT. brought in to replace Rodger Waters, , you need to google him hes multitalented, Madonna , Micael Jackson to name but 2 who asked for him personally to record on their albums. Plus many many others. David didnt ask him to play Bass for his audition , just to sing. It appears Roger wasn't a very good bass player, and many time on the records its also Gilmour on bass, so when asked if he was nervous about replacing Roger he said no, David plays the bass anyway. But he was jealous of his song writing and Producing. Hes noticeably better than Roger both singing and playing, but he'l never write like him. Has played ever since on nearly every tour and still plays with Nick Mason now with his new band A Saucerful of Secrets., Still touring but playing mainly the old Floyd music. He also married Richard Wrights daughter,
for a fan of pf since 40 years, it is really their worst song 😊 30 years later I still think so....thanks to you for your reactions on the best band, you will end up being a real fan👍
I am loosing faith, as you have yet to do a Pink Floyd song, Everything so far is Without ROGER WATERS,,, kinda like LED ZEPPELIN WITHOUT ROBERT PLANT OR JIMMY PAGE.

The 2nd song
I had to learn to play Tim Renwick's stuff from this. pffft... SO cool!!!!!
This album carried me through a painful time in my life. And the concerts were the most amazing experiences.
Gilmour and Mason are both licensed pilots. The song is interpreted as a metaphor for Gilmour leading the post-Waters Pink Floyd.
