You're a legend John, us Brits know a good deal. Totally agree It's about the experience of the shave, not the cost of things. I've had a cracking shave with a Yuma from Turkey which cost next to nothing compared to my 3one6. The end results are the same, great shave. It's easy to fall down the rabbit hole, of I must spend a fortune, when in reality you don't. Stay safe, and keep the vids coming.
Hi John, thanks for your shave this evening. Your discussion about budget shaves was really a discussion about semantics rather than what a person is willing to spend on shaving products. For me, when I first started in this hobby everything I had was cheap as chips, now a few years later I honestly love the one or two quality items I have. Perhaps for all of us we all know we could shave for a fraction of what we spend, but that's true of many hobbies isn't it. Thanks for getting this discussion going!
Thanks John for taking time to share your shave and your point of view on "Budget Shave". The beauty of our Wet shaving hobby/pleasure is shavers can set any size budget they want and still get a great shave. I follow a sort middle ground where I have some low priced gear, some middle priced gear and a small amount of high priced gear. I'm always on the hunt for good value though and often find good value in locally made (Australia) soaps/creams. Keep safe Mate.
Hi John Scouse Ian here watched the last two shaves sorry didn't comment been hectic with work. My SOTD was blackland vector razor Feather blade, brush was Simpsons Trafalgar t3 synthetic, soap was officina artigiana shaving soap and matching aftershave. Balm was acca Kappa barbershop balm. You mentioned soaps I have three really good soaps to recommend one is mitchells woolfat, Martin de candre and any soprino varesino. I know you mentioned budget or cost but these soaps are all extremely hard soaps and each will last well over a year or longer so in my opinion are not only great performers but value for money aswell! Like the shave and the razor stay safe and looking forward to the Saturday shave!
Thanks ian, I know what you mean about being hectic, it's been mad this end, I agree with you on the soaps, varisino is on my radar, I'll get it eventually, Have a great week mate, thanks for all the support, stay safe bro 👍 🤓 👍
I have deep affection for the Lupo 😂 really enjoy budget shaves. I was talking with friends today that it’s strange how when I am doing a shave just for myself I seem to always grab budget gear. Great video! Take care John!
Hi Anthony, the lupo is a strange one for me lol, 1st ever use it felt well made but very mild, yet gave me a very close comfortable shave!!!, I'M like you too, when no camara is on I tend to instinctively reach for the cheaper stuff in my den!, have a great week buddy 👍
John, I can't believe the conversation you can have alone in a bathroom. Your the best Waffler on TH-cam and even better, your video was only 16 minutes.I agree totally, I love a fantastic shave with budget stuff, for me the one item I can't ever shave again without, synthetic shave brush. My shave of the day, Micromatic single edge razor (paid $20 used in new condition), GEM blade, Arko squished into a $2 used soup bowl and a 26mm Yaqi synthetic brush. How about doing an adjustable razor month ? Saving your #1 favourite adjustable razor till last. Stay safe and I totally enjoy every upload
Hi z, thankyou for your kind words, I love my yaqi synths, and budget gear, it allways gives me great satisfaction, I'll look into an adjustable series for sure, thanks for the idea, watch this space and have a great weekend buddy 👍 take care 👍 🤓 👍
I absolutely 100% agree with you John, price tag is not always the thing to look for quality. I have some 2 euros/pounds or even lower soaps that are outstanding, and yes, PAA is one of the BEST. And I love my Lupo...to me is veeeery well built for the price. a Little bit on the light side but once you get into it you're done. have nice week John, Stay safe my friend!
Thanks Joe, I agree 100% buddy, the lupo is a definite keeper, like you say a lil light but man.... Once you dial it in, what a shave!!!, have a great rest of the week buddy 👍 stay safe 👍😎👍
An expensive piece of shave gear doesn't necessarily make for a better shave. I always say to people, if you can afford it, it's worth it. I've had some great shaves where the entire shave gear cost less than 15 quid. Shaving gear is very subjective and one guy could love something really expensive while another guy could think its crap. Just enjoy using the gear you have and can afford to buy and you'll not go wrong. Cheers mate. Kevy 😀👍
I agree 100% kevy. , I love the actual act of shaving, and the joy comes no matter what I'm using (as long as it does the job), have a great weekend kevy, thanks for watching bro 👍
Spot on John with the budget shaves one mans budget shave could be another’s luxury. It’s nice to have fancy things if you have to money to splash out. Personally I have a very expensive razor and brush won’t give names but I only have one of each rather that having lots of brushes and razors I chose a nice one and stuck to that but they really aren’t a necessity budget razors and brushes work just the same and as you say knowing the satisfaction that can be had from using a budget product with great results for so little can’t be beat. You just don’t get that value for money satisfaction shaving with a £300 brush instead you get that luxurious feeling that makes you’re wallet cry lol. Personally I don’t watch to see expensive products I watch because I like you as a person and I enjoy listening to you, tbh some channels with the most luxurious shaving gear just don’t interest me they just don’t have the gift of the gab. As always excellent shave looking forward to the next one
Thanks buddy, I'm kinda the same,, at the end of the day, you like what you like, price is irrelivant in some cases, I do think tho, some buy All the really expensive stuff to show off, I just like trying new things and getting value for money, have a great day buddy 👍
@@johnshaves101 100% agree You should buy for you’re own enjoyment not to show off to other people ! Really liked what you said about how some people might not have the money for very much at all we should feel very lucky to have what we have
Nice video John! I love the Razorock Lupo, great razor for everyday, I only wish it could shave a bit closer , but it is so smooth and nice that it is a forgivable disadvantage.
Great point John, budget doesn't necessarily mean low priced or value priced. I think in the U.S. we often call inexpensive or good value items 'budget' items in terms of being budget friendly. I also enjoy getting great shaves from good value products. I'll use pretty much everything but there is certainly something enjoyable about finding those great value products and using them effectively.
Howdy John! I hope all is well with you and yours. 🙏🏼❤️ That a great shave set up my friend. I’ve never heard of that blade. That Frank at SGS makes a top notch brush. 💈 I agree on your budget discussion. I too have a value added approach to gear. I just wouldn’t enjoy using a soap or razor that was outside my personal comfort zone. I have a number of gifted items (primarily razors) that I likely would have eventually owned after saving for a long while. My Rex A (gifted) is likely the most expensive razor I’ll ever own. Cheers my friend! ❤️
love budget gear nice shave you would say the lupo is mild fyi It's a UK historical thing. The domestic aluminum quality was reduced after the Empire fell and the economy shrunk due to creeping socialism, so the new adulterated metal was renamed "minimum aluminum", which was soon shortened to "aluminium".
