    Compare your trucks speedo on the highway with a GPS unit as the taller tires change the actual final ratio and speedo calibration. On my last truck a 1999 2500 dodge cummins with 355 gears I put taller Ford size 235/85r16 on it and charts told me this tire turned I think 54 less times per mile due to the slightly larger circumference. My dealer re calibrated the speedometer and I saw an increase in fuel mpg. Have fun stay safe!

    PLEASE EVERYONE!!......The newer diesel engines and their transmissions from factory are so restricted and starved from everything they were made to do. You are only slowly frying your engine cause you're not running it hot enough. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Look up issues with the diesels, the EGR and DEF systems are failing cause they've restricted them even more! ARE YOU GOING TO SPEND 70 TO 90K ON A BEAUTIFUL NEW DIESEL TRUCK, JUST TO HAVE IT BREAK DOWN????? After your having your diesel modified.....it shifts better, runs better, your fuel economy is better and YOU PROLONG THE LIFE OF YOUR ENGINE.

    A Ram engineer once told me that the total investment and hardware used for emissions on these new trucks add aprox 30k to the price of them. It's a shame. They burn way more fuel, the added weight, the cost of the rare earth materials needed for the SCR and Cats, god knows how toxic the DEF is and of course the initial cost of it all. The jury is still out on if it really improves the "overall" damage done to the environment. The life of the engine and turbo's are cut in half if not more and of course all the caking and soot inside the engine. I don't know, yes less gets airborne maybe but the crap is all still there.

    • @johnirwin1837
      @johnirwin1837 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well your Ram engineer friend lied to you. My 2004 5.9L 3/4 T was MSRP at $41K. My current 2018 3500 SRW with all the emission stuff was MSRP at $ 61K. Plus it had more factory options on it. $20k increase is not to bad in my book for a 14 year newer truck.

    • @truckguy6.7
      @truckguy6.7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnirwin1837 A few things...it was Canadian. MSRP on my last truck was 91,000. It was total investment. A lot of that investment is in the base price and a lot of that investment has been absorbed by the manufacturer. There is also a substantial investment for emissions in gas powered trucks too.

So all the sensors and modules in the exhaust, egr with coolers, high pressure injection systems with very expensive injectors etc, etc. Sure a lot of those things make diesels a lot more enjoyable along with emitting less emissions but it all adds up to a very expensive truck. I still remember selling 93 club cab LE 4X4 models which were considered loaded for the time for $26,995 (monopoly money to boot). Tech is both good and bad (mainly good) and inflation sucks.

Good Grief Charlie Brown, do they think the worlds pollution just stays over the city that is in, good lord this Country is on a downward sprial when some West Coast idiots want everyone to switch to an electric vehicle. What are we gonna do with all the hazardous batteries when they need replacement, oh that's right they never thought about it. Mine has been deleted at 30,000mi, and I bought it brand new in 07 the first year the 6.7 Cummins came out. It had 26mi on it when I bought it, I had to take it back 15 times for software programming that had to do with all the crap that was on there. After talking to the diesel mechanic I came home and ripped all that crap off, ran 4" Stainless Steel Exhaust from the turbo back, pulled the EGR off, put a Smarty JR. ME Tuner and never went back to the dealership unless it was for certain recalls. I've got 278,560mi on it and the only problem was I had to put a new Transmission in at 150,000mi due to that stupid plastic nipple that holds the spin on filter in place broke and then helped destroy it. I've since upgraded that part to a Stainless Steel one. I drive this truck every day without a problem.

    Just serviced my 19 2500 Cummings at dealership. Not ever gonna delete, cost 3x to replace everything. Your call but can’t sell it now, won’t pass EPA.

    Are you or are you going to become a certified arborist, Tim? I took many a class in school for forestry, wildlife, and landscaping; one of those went into great detail the intricacies of arboriculture. Now, when I have someone out to look at my trees for things I can't do myself, it is one of the first things I ask and then ask how they plan to do the job. It amazes me the work that so many people will pay for that is just plain, flat-out wrong and bad for the health of the tree. Had to tell more than a few to leave.
