Shalz, you don't have to dissassemble a train just to import/export items on a train, you can just attach a "Vault" and "Portable Storage Interface from Create itself. You can vary the loading/unloading items from the train by either extracting or putting items from the portable storage interface on the world (or train station) by funnels and such. Take a look at the "ponder" view of the Portable Storage Interface, it'll tell you that even a moving contraption (i.e. train) can be accessed by that block.
Personally, I would love to make a crane that grabs a vault from a carriage and drops it in a depot like a cargo container. Would look way more impressive than Portable Storage Interface. Can't do that with an assembled train though.
If you did 100 days in survival create, I would watch it religiously. You could release an episode a day, and I would be here every single day watching that episode.

@@Robododobobo Probably because they _are_ more expensive - I can't remember exactly what the recipe is (it's changed at least once, I don't use them, and I'm currently focusing on C:A&B anyway) but if memory serves it involves two shafts and an andesite casing (and I think it also involves two iron nuggets) to craft just two encased chain drives - that means that just to move power vertically with chain drives needs two shafts and an andesite casing PER TWO BLOCKS, while using a belt needs two shafts and one belt to go any distance within the maximum belt length.
5:48 that was already a thing, there was a specific block to connect the train to a loading/unloading system, without having to assemble/disassemble the train.
Yeah, auto-(dis)assembly is more for if you want your automatic cargo system to include cranes adding and removing entire storage modules - for example if I wanted to have a cargo train that picked up an entire vault, moved it to a different station, dropped off that vault, picked up some fluid tanks in the same location, and brought them back to the previous station. ...which _may_ be something I've been wanting to be able do ever since I found out about 0.5's trains.
Couldn't you also just use these portable storage interfaces to utilize chests in cargo trains? I mean, it would kinda work the same, wouldn't it, or am i missing something right here
I think the main point is that you could unload entire assemblies from trains. Also if you can pull the whole container off, you could put chutes on every underside location of a vault, which probably unloads a lot faster than a PSI
The example that Shalz gave wasn't great, as you can absolutely do that with the portable storage interfaces - what you can't do with the storage interfaces (and I've been wanting to do for as long as Create Trains have been a thing) is have a train arrive, followed by the entire storage unit being physically lifted off the train using a crane - potentially followed by a different storage unit for a different type of cargo being placed on it. It'll also allow people to make psudo-train lifts, where the train arrives, gets disassembled, gets lifted up (without the tracks) onto a different track, and then re-assembled.
It would be pretty cool to see a create survival series, and it would help me personally to learn how to use more create stuff. As I don't really enjoy playing creative mode, and the mod works so differently in survival.
Also I started using (1:50) because of you and It's been way more helpful in my opinion, at least in survival because of my kelp farm, you can angle them more in a compact space compared to cogs and the shaft belt blocks
i wonder if you could use above and below bogeys on the same train in order to make one that's both a passenger train and an automated resource gathering/depositing train? if you made the top bogeys for passengers, i bet you could hide the automated stuff below, too. i bet you could even disguise it pretty well as a regular train if it was on regular train tracks!
Hey shalz, at 4:52, you show how you can automatically disassemble a train so that you can add stuff to it, however this is not really a smart way do do things as 1) you can't automatically use super glue, and 2) you can empty and fill all containers on a train using portable storage interfaces as with all create entities. However, if you do need to change a train on the fly, which usually in not needed if built well, you can use the block that you couldn't figure out as that block's whole purpose is to connect and disconnect different train carriages automatically, this also does give me an interesting idea for athletics, as you might be able to have overlapping blocks on your train if done right, so the transition between cars would be smoother on a turn.

When there’s a Chest you can hook it up to a portable storage interface which if you have a chest on the train and you know where the train will stop and the chest it will use the interface and put the items in that chest so you don’t have to do all that complicated stuff
Survival create would be so good, create has some addons for other mods like farmers delight aswell so mods other than create and its addons will also add a lot
Would love to see survival create, especially with some other industrial/highly advanced mods like Applied Energistics 2 and/or Thermal Foundation (and other Thermal Series mods). Maybe even Alchemistry or Ender IO or something

Why would anybody hate using mechanical belts to transfer rotational energy? Thats literally what they were used for originally. The use of mechanical belts to transfer energy dates all the way back to the BC years, while conveyor belts weren't a thing until the late 18-early 19th century. Plus it's radically more resource-efficient especially if trying to bridge large gaps.

How did you make the observer work with the crossing fence? I just placed the observer to a track but when a train come across the ovserver track my crossing fence wont work
