She was a badass. Had many many albums worth checking out. Live Last Day of Our Acquaintance. Red Football, Troy, This is a Rebel Song, Mandinka, Black Boys on Mopeds. I could go on and on. She was raw power. Thanks!
Originally *written and recorded* by Prince in 1984, it never really took off. When Sinead recorded and released it in 1990 she blew it up the charts! Many conflicting stories about their unfortunate dealings afterward. Prince wrote a powerful song....Sinead delivered a powerful version.....for me, it will always be her song no matter who else sings it.
This song was written by Prince, but made famous by Sinead. Make sure you check out the official music video. This song was released on her 2nd album, I Do Not Want What Haven't Got (1990), and it made her a worldwide star. IMO, her biggest masterpiece studio album is her very 1st album, The Lion and the Cobra (1987). I recommend "Troy", either the official music video or live at the Pinkpop festival 1988.
I do remember this song, I always thought she was so talented, and sadly like so many so very troubled also. Thank you as always for the video and commentary and a very happy Friday everyone!
Sinead has so many great songs of her own and I always think the live versions are the best. Troy, Last Day of Our Acquaintance Mandinka Black Boys On Mopeds Just Like You Said It Would Be (live Whistle Test version 👌) When she did "John I Love You" on the Jon Stewart show it was mesmerising!
1990 is when she sang this the video was put on TH-cam in 2018 she passed in 2023

Her mom died right before she recorded the studio version of this. She actually cried during the song for her mom.

I am old enough to have seen her in concert 3 times. All hail the mighty SINEAD!!!
Watch her sing Troy
The last day of our acquitance, Troy to name few.
I think you would enjoy this live version better if you heard her official video version..esp coming from pink experience
Prince was the original but when she did it she made it her own
I think her official video was better.
