Thank you for the video and your honest review. Most reviewers would bash the lens for softness wide open however while you talked about it you also showed the amazing photographs you were able to take. This proves that it is not necessarily the equipment but the eye and expertise behind the viewfinder that creates great shots. Nice job Adrian!!
Thanks for watching and for the kind comment Leo. Much appreciated. There's always work arounds for things. This lens has been a reliable companion over the years. Hope you have a great weekend, cheers 📸🙏
Thanks for sharing. I bought my AF-S16-35f4G in 2014 and brought it with my D800E and D850 for every trip. Over 70% of my landscape photos were taken by this lens and its performance is superb. I used to use FE16-35f2.8 with EOS5DMkII before I change to Nikon system. I would say the Nikkor is much sharper than the older FE lens.
What a great review! Sharp, to the point and some stunning examples of shots you've taken with it. The second in the reel of shots looks like another planet. Entertaining to watch.
Great video and the images were amazing! I was able to pick up a pristine version of this lens used for half the price of new 6 months ago. I use it with my Z6. It may be adapted but I love using this lens. No issues whatsoever. The IBIS of the Z6 makes it even easier to hand hold if necessary. At more than double the price I can't see upgrading to the Z version. I plan to use the savings and get the Z 105mm macro.
Thanks for watching Ian. Good to hear the lens works well on the Z6. I’ll be reviewing that Z 105mm macro lens soon on my channel. Enjoy your weekend 👍🙏
HI Adrian for an F4 aperture lens shots were unbelievable WOW, That for sure makes all the difference when it come to price. Loved all the pictures my friend.
Thank you so much for watching. It has been a great lens on my travels. I have had so much fun using it in different situations. Hope you have an awesome weekend, take care 📸🙏
You have certainly gotten your money out of your 16-35 investment. It's almost a shame that it is probably being nearly retired by your new 14-30. So many beautiful images in this video. Like an AA greatest hits or something! You should call this an EXTRA Long Term review! LOL I'm interested to see your upcoming comparison video. Thanks, Adrian!
Thanks for watching Phil. Yes I'm looking forward to sharing the comparison video between the 16-35mm and 14-30mm. It takes time though as I have to go to different locations with different lighting, sunrises, sunsets etc. Have a great weekend mate, take care 📸🙏
Adrian, another great video. I also have the Nikon 16-35mm lens and use it with my Nikon 7II for landscape photos. I traded in most of my f glass when I went mirrorless but could not let go of this one lens. I get great joy from the photos I get with it. I look forward to your video comparing the 16-35mm with the Z14-30mm.
That lens is a winner. Well, in the hands of someone who can properly deploy it, such as yourself. Those images were stunning BTW. I just couldn’t let that slip by without comment. 😉👍📸
Hi Adrian, as you know I'm not a Nikon user but I really enjoyed the gallery of images taken with this lens. Not to mention the B-Roll footage from the Quiraing👍 Have a great week mate and congratulations on hitting the 10,000 mark!
Thanks for watching Scott. It has been a great lens. Glad you enjoyed the video. 10k, yeah unbelievable, thanks for all your support mate. Have an amazing week cheers 🍻 👍🙏
Adrian....love your videos and of course your photography...you have been instrumental in my pursuit of fine images...and in using the tools at your disposal to their full advantage...cannot thank you enough.
Thank you for watching John. Really appreciate your kind comment. You inspire me to keep making more content for people who appreciate it. Have a great day 📸🙏
@@adrianalfordphotography Hi Adrian, yes 100% correct, Lake Como from our European holiday in 2014, seems like decades ago now. I was shooting with my D700 & 24-70 Nikon f2.8, back then. Still love my 24-70 but have gone to the much loved D850.
Great review Adrian. 16-35mm is definitely my go to lens as well. Wouldn't leave home without it. You've caught some amazing images over the years with it,. especially some of those shots from Iceland! Wow! And the one of Mt Fuji was absolutely amazing as well! Definitely got your money's worth over the past 5 years! And SO CLOSE to 10K subs! Any day now! Well deserved, the sky is the limit mate! Hope you are doing well, have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Paul - thanks heaps for watching mate. That lens has been through the ringer, but it still performed so well. I was going to contact you to see if you were ok, cause you hadn't posted for a while. Glad to know you're still here. Haha, Kristy and I were taking bets on the 10K sub date. Looks like she's going to win with her estimated date of May 10th and I have to buy her dinner. Couldn't have done it without her support though, so I'm glad to lose this bet. Have a great week my friend, cheers 🙏
@@adrianalfordphotography haha take her somewhere good,.I'm sure she has put up with a lot because of the YT channel. 😂 All is fine here. Just taking a bit of a break. Hi Adrian, 16-35mm is such a fantastic focal range and f4 is a good choice for traveling and hiking. I was also already thinking about buying an f4 version of my f2.8 lenses for steeper hikes. But you know, budgets are always limited :) A great video, thank you for sharing! Nice greetings, Christian
Thanks Christian. It has been a great lens for me. You are right that focal length is very handy to have. Good for those longer hikes. Hope you have a great weekend, cheers 📸🙏
I use a Sony 16-35mm f2.8GM and this focal length is what made me fall in love with landscapes. Great images you captured with your lens! Those Iceland shots were epic 😍 missing the place already. Very informative review, though I probably won’t jump systems for now to Nikon 😂
Thanks for watching. I have used the FTZII with my Z7 with 2 other lenses in this video - th-cam.com/video/NFp7RZWpMRo/w-d-xo.html - I’ll be trying the 16-35mm soon 🙏📸
Yes you can use this lens for real estate. Other lenses to consider are 14-24mm F2.8 or 20mm F1.8. I have a long term review of the 14-24mm F2.8 coming out this Saturday on my channel.
Great review Adrain - or should I say "Long Term Review"! Great choice for landscape photography - as always, amazing photos. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips on this lens - take care, look forward toy your next video :)
Hi Adrian, if i have a 24-120 and want to have a wider lens for landscape, how should i be thinking about 16-35 vs 14-24 apart from the weight and cost? Thanks!
Filters are easier and cheaper for 16-35. 14-24 is good for astro as well. Tough choice. I have both but if I could only get one I would probably go with 16-35
Hey Adrian, i wondered whether i can use this lens on my Nikon D5200. I've read that the Nikon D5200 has a APS-C Censor and uses the Nikon DX format which should fit to the Nikkor 16-35mm lens or am I wrong with that?
@@adrianalfordphotography Oh thats actually good to know, it seems to me i haven't noticed this information! But does this affect the wide angle function? I mean there is a difference between the focal lengths 16mm and 24mm. Right now I'm a bit puzzled. :)
By a huge margin I much prefer my 14-24 2.8, nothing to do with 2.8 vs f/4 it's just a far superior lens in my opinion, going from 14 to 24 is perfect as I have a 24-120 f/4 so no zoom overlap either
