I know you published this a long time ago but yours is about the 4th video I've watched on how to do this and yours is the one that makes sense to me. You do a great job of explaining what you are doing at each step. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this video tutorial! I consider myself an intermediate crocheters, and have been crocheting for over 30 years, but have never gotten the hang of the chainless foundation. I have read multiple instrtructions by different people and they were all pretty vague about where the hook goes after the first completed stitch... I remember seeing more than once 'in the side'...??? and I am pretty sure that I read one that told me to go into the single crochet portion, which is why mine always failed miserably... but you have made this so clear and visible, I feel that I can conquer this basic but important stitch! 🙃

Loved the way you explained and demonstrated precisely how these foundation stitches are worked. I could not ever figure out exactly how to do this, and I think it was because I didn't understand where the chain part was and at what point the stitch was created. Again, thank you for a job well done! 🤓

i think after watching a zillion channels I am getting it. Doing all 4 makes you understand exactly what you are doing rather than just saying yarn over pull thru one, etc. I understand better in relation to each other, what is happening. I am new at crochet so I don't even know how to read a stitch dunno what it is supposed to look like and can't seem to find a graphic of how it is all supposed to interlock with each other. This is the best for that but I am still really not grounded in any certainty. Thanx so much, great instructor and teaching style and demeanor.

Ditto on the comment about your tutorial being, by far, the clearest and best filmed of this technique :-). Is there any significance on how your hook Dave’s downward when creating the chain vs upward when creating the single/half-double/double stitch?

Thank you for showing exactly where you are supposed to put the needle in to start the stitches .. was wondering where that was. I have a question though - should your foundation row require stitches with chains between them, is it possible to work this particular type of foundation row ? I've not tried it yet, but, I can't really *picture* it working out in my mind. So, I will probably work on it until I figure out just how to make those stitches together. I just found this chainless foundation row method yesterday, and, am already wanting to use it on ALL my projects I will make in the future. - I've been crocheting for at least 42 years, and, this is a new way of crocheting for me. It seems to make a much nicer foundation row than the traditional method. TY again.

Yes, I do think you can, because both sides have V's that can be used for stitches to be placed in. :-)

When you make your stitch in the chain row, I've noticed you wrapped the yarn under the hook, not over it, but I didn't hear an explanation for this deviation from the norm. Every other time you do yarn over. Is there a reason? I just might try both ways to see the difference.

Ok, I get it. Your chain-extender YOs are actually YUs, and that gives you better purchase on the stitch. The rest is the usual method of YO. That's the trick. Clever. I.e. For a foundation row of sc: ch 2, insert hook into both loops on 2nd ch from hook, yu, draw up loop, yo, pull through 1st loop, yo pull through both loops; then [ insert hook into both loops on the ch at the bottom of the stitch you just made, yu, draw up loop, yo, pull through 1st loop, yo pull through both loops ]; repeat as needed.

A small suggestion, could you use a lighter color yarn when teaching? It would be a little bit easy to see the insert.

Thank you for these tutorials, they are very helpful. You describe the steps in easy-to-follow steps. I do have one thing that keeps happening, regardless of whether is the FDN for sc, hdc or dc .... I end up with this weird "tail" at the beginning (here's a screenshot with the "tail" circled): i.ibb.co/zVFVxMy/IMG-20190319-233239-241.jpg .... I don't know what is causing it. It is where the initial slip knot is right before the ch 2. It's kind of, almost like, the slip knot that goes on the hook is acting like an extra stitch. I'm not counting it as a stitch when I do the ch 2. I can't tighten it (the loop) any more - its as tight as it can go - I even try to tighten it after the fact, when I get to the end of the row.... still can't get rid of that "tail". I've been crocheting for about 44ish years and this is frustrating the heck out of me. Help?
