Mom got Dad that rifle for coon hunting so he didn't have to borrow his hunting buddies gun. Got it on Christmas day, and as a 13 year old it was about the most beautiful thing. I was the gun bearer hunting and kept it cased till actually ready to shoot then went right back in. So it's in nice shape. In my safe now-really need to give it some range time.
M49 1961/1978 Ithaca is still in business and building shotguns they are located in Sandusky OHIO. I have one dad bought it for me at the Montgomery wards warehouse in KC. I still have it.
