    Yeah you dont need to convince Chelsea fans how great Lamps was but every other fan and journalist in England needs a fucking schooling. The fact that they all say Gerrard was better without even considering the possibility pisses me off so much. Lamps was a fucking machine and he did it year after year for a decade, only Ronaldo and Messi have that kinda consistency.

    • @nosoyarkano7624
      @nosoyarkano7624 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm pretty sure most fans and journalists think that Frankie >= Stevie =< Scholesy. If anything, Gerrard was the one considered the worst from the English midfield golden trio.

    • @rickenfatania
      @rickenfatania 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      ***** Lampard had a lot less flair than the other two, despite the incredible numbers. He also played with batches and batches of better players at CFC. Like a conveyor belt of solid DMs and CMs, hence the numbers. Scholes suffered when Keane left and it wasn't the same with him and Carrick in midfield. Not that they did too badly.
      It's also easy to forget Gerrard had sub-par team mates apart from a few seasons with Alonso, Mascherano, Torres etc. Give Gerrard the team mates Lampard had for 15+ seasons, then compare the two. It nearly happened under Mourinho - Makelelé + Gerrard + Lampard would have been the end of football.

    • @rickenfatania
      @rickenfatania 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** It's easier to shine in an inferior team no doubt. That's not what i'm saying (Gerrard would stand out anywhere btw).
      Lampard had an easier time scoring goals in a Chelsea team with MUCH better defensive cover then what Gerrard got.
      Put Lampard in an average team, they'll have less possession, create less chances and he'll score fewer goals.
      I don't hate Lampard, but these are the facts. Look how many goals Fabregas scored when he joined Barcelona...

    • @rickenfatania
      @rickenfatania 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** I said Liverpool were inferior not 'shite'. I'll say it again, Liverpool are inferior to Chelsea. They are not as good as Chelsea. Chelsea > Liverpool. Hope that clears it up.
      'Mate it's easier to shine in a shite team' meaning Gerrard and Liverpool. That's what you said isn't it? If anyone is throwing shite about it's you.
      Also, regarding shite. You said if you have strong midfielders behind Lampard, even in a shite team, he is still class? How can a team be shite with strong midfielders + Lampard?
      Look I don't mind the guy. He did great things at Chelsea, he's a fantastic footballer who scored lots of goals. He is intelligent, was good off the ball and on. But Gerrard would be better in every position. Even in goal or at CB. SlippyG was a more complete footballer - and that's not an opinion.
      His stats are higher because Lamps played the majority of his career with better managers and players. Don't tell me it was more difficult for Lampard because he had better players around him.

    • @TheMrjackfoulkes
      @TheMrjackfoulkes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Peter E Why did Mourihno want Gerrard so badly if Lampard was better? Doesn't really make sense. People today rifle off stats and forget that you can actually watch players and when you watch Gerrard you can see he was clearly the better player. Look at any neutral observation about them from their peers and you'll see time again the Gerrard is referenced as the best X has played against. It's like when people go on about Ronaldo and Messi and start quoting Ronaldos stats to demonstrate why he's better; it works up until you watch them both play and then you understand Messi is the best.

    • @davekent6023
      @davekent6023 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      I guess they had the greatest number of "world class" midfielders at one point but not only has England (including EPL) been deploying outdated tactics for ages, but their midfielders didn't complement each other either.
      If you look at Italy's World Cup winning squad, their central mids were Pirlo and Gattuso: one playmaker (better than Gerrard and Lampard, about equal to Scholes) and one aggressive destroyer (better than any of the 3).

  • @Timliu92

    Frank Lampard - one of my all-time favorite English players alongside Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, and John Terry. He was not just able to control the midfield like a boss but also had one of the best goalscoring runs as a midfielder, at one point even scoring more than 20 goals for a whole season in the Premier League itself (not counting the UCL and domestic cups). A legend in every way.

      Nope. Its Luka Modric

    • @nosoyarkano7624
      @nosoyarkano7624 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +AA Kadir Luka Modric is destroying it in La Liga, but in the Premier League, he was "just" very good. With just, I mean that Real Madrid wanted to sign him despite being like, 28, but just simply hadn't spent enough time in the PL to be considered "The best PL midfielder ever". He is tho, arguably, the best midfielder in the world as we speak.
      By the way, the reason why the Stevie, Frankie and Scholesy combination didn't work, was because of the attacking mentality they had. The 3 were attacking midfielders with defensive qualities played central (they were versatile tho). They simply unbalanced the midfield which left the defense having to do ALL the defensive work, and unless you have a magical defense, it won't work since the opponents can just outnumber them. At the end, Steve and Frank basically didn't go well in the pitch.

    An excellent video with top-notch analysis and production work! Great job. The only thing I'd say should be improved is the audio quality. Your voice is really similar in tone to the narrator's voice from the TH-cam channel The School of Life, but his vocal mixing is better. I think you need a bit more compression to catch the moments when the voice trails down a bit, especially at the end of sentences, and you could probably EQ it a bit better to include more high-end so it's more understandable.
    Yours is the best football channel on this site, so you should have the best audio too. :)

    One of the rarest footballers i've ever seen, an almost complete midfielder, great passing, long shots, unstoppable stamina, also an eye for goals close to a pure striker such Batigol .. in fact, Chelsea with any manager coming in always try to find 'another' him.. with Ramires, Kovacic etc... This type that i also love to play when on football pitch or PlayStation solo career.. box to box.. but my stamina is not as good as this guy ..LoL..

      Arnav Bisht It wasnt a tactically issue or lack in quality its just the same problem that haunted spain for years before they won the euros . Its the belief or lack there of in themselves and their teammates on the big stage

    • @theoneandonlycurz
      @theoneandonlycurz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Lampard and Gerrard didn't work for England as their extraordinary performances at club level were based on them being the free-er midfielder in a 3 man midfield. If you put 2 midfielders of that ilk in a 2 man midfield then you are essentially depriving them of the conditions required to replicate their club form. In a 3 man midfield (whether 4-3-3 with a holder or a 2-1 format as per 4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1) you have the security of 2 players (Makelele and Tiago/Essien or Alonso and Hamman/Mascherano) to fill gaps and control counters if you as the third man break into the box. It's interesting to note that Lampard's first few Chelsea seasons actually resulted in a far lower return of goals, that's because he was played in a 4-4-2 by the then Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri (sure he's played 4-4-2 with another Premier League team!). Regarding Gerrard he was latterly used as the "1" in Benitez's 4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1. In conjunction with Fernando Torres this allowed him to reach his best Premier League goal tally (16) but also resulted in people saying he had no positional sense, well why would he need to with the positionally astute Mascherano and Alonso behind him? In effect England's selection of the both of Lampard and Gerrard was an attempt to cram their best players into a shape which took away the very conditions which allowed them to thrive in the first place, we had great players but they weren't properly utilised. It's also very difficult to play a goalscoring midfielder with freedom to raid into the box in conjunction with a number 10 like Rooney, you end up leaving 1 man covering the entirety of midfield which is unworkable at international level, add the fact that that 1 man would be Gerrard or Lampard doing a job they aren't suited for and you have a problem. Earlier this season you could see a similar problem with Man United attempting to play Pogba and Rooney in a 2-1 format. No coincidence that since Rooney was dropped the shape has allowed Pogba more freedom to create and raid into the box as he has 2 men behind him. Rooney isn't dynamic enough to play through the middle or out wide in a front 3 so he had to sacrificed.

    Frank Lampard has been selected as the Premier League's Player of the Decade, by facts and figures' wizards Opta.
    Opta, who studied every Premier League game since January 2000, declared that Lampard has played in more games, most wins to his name, second-most number of assists and the fourth-highest goal scoring record.
    Even Scholes cant beat him.
