LIVE: Millions of people are continuing to prepare for life-threatening impacts from Hurricane Milton, which exploded in intensity on Monday in the Gulf of Mexico on a path leading it to the west coast of Florida.
On Monday, Milton strengthened into a powerful Category 5 storm with winds of 180 mph. As of early Tuesday morning, Milton had slightly weakened to Category 4 but is forecast to reach cat 5 strength again and grow in size.
