Rachel, that table is beautiful. I dont have anything green in my house and i dont know where i would use it. But, if i had it, i would find a place!😅😊❤
Happy Wednesday Rachael, I'm in love with your holiday display table. The transfer is such a gorgeous one. I would love to try milk paint and the color basil you used went so well with the transfer. A big thumbs up👍
Rachel the table looks so much better. I think you will get a lot of use of it. I have a question about milk paint. I haven't used it before but I have some from Sonnets makers box. I see you seal it with the oil wax. What else can I use?
Hi Rachel, the transfer has the perfect colors for the holidays. That will transition beautifully year-round. Absolutely love the golden ticket that adds a nice subtle touch. I can imagine you are tired of painting, it gets old quick. We are trying to downsize (at this point) the "stuff" we have in the house. 4 bdrm 2 b and every room has something in it that needs to be gone through. Once that gets done we are going to be a lot happier. We cleaned out our storage shed on the property and then promptly filled it with things from the house. I have to admit that most of the new stuff was crafting, sewing and such. Hmmm, I need to get brutal in thinning out my stuff. LOL Did ya get the tub fixed? We have for the most part. That bathroom is the pink and grey color scheme of the 60s, so we have a pink cast iron tub and not the claw foot kind. Dang. LOL See ya Saturday my friend.
I have been saving that transfer for the longest time waiting to do something "holiday" themed without it being too over the top "Christmas". :) And yes, I am SO tired of painting. Although I feel like I have no room to talk. I haven't really talked about it publicly, but on top of everything my hubby lost his job a week and a half ago. We had a feeling it was coming - the business had new ownership as of a little over a year aga, and they had already commented on how "highly compensated" my husband was as compared to other managers in different locations in our area. It is honestly one of the biggest reasons we had already decided to get out from under our mortgage. So - that being said - while I get to come to my beautiful quiet shop every day, my husband has been at home - painting not only our kitchen cabinets, but also almost every wall in our house - trying to get our place as beautiful and shiny as he possibly can so that we can get every dollar out of it as possible. Life is so chaotic right now, but we are finally making headway and I am hoping by my next two days off I will be able to concentrate more on the downsizing process (and yes - getting rid of things is SO difficult!!), packing, and getting things off to storage. I will be so happy when this process is finished - it is wreaking havoc on my creativity, and my initiative and drive to get things done have taken a huge hit . . . but I am hopeful that soon it will all pay off!! I am trying to stay positive!! :) Some days are definitely easier than others, lol!! And yes - the tub is fixed! I can officially take a long hot bath!! Yay!! :) Anyway - I better go get my butt in gear . . . I have a video to get done, lol!! Talk soon!!
Can you tell me your ratio of water to powder and time you allow the paint to sit before you use it. Here in Arkansas (I do most of my painting outside) it is very humid. When I mix the correct ratio it never thicken to the point where it goes on as beautifully as yours. I love the milk paint but shy away from it because of this problem.
I usually mix mine a quarter cup at a time and I use hot water (as hot as my water can get), place that in my cup, and then add the same amount of powder and mix with my milk frother. I have found the consistency of the paint at this point can vary depending on color. Some colors get super thick and I have to wait a few minutes before I can stir them. Others are easily stirred right away. I stir my paint as soon as I can and then add my extra bond, then stir again. Then I let it sit for a few minutes before I start painting. That all being said, if you're having trouble with it not being thick enough you can always try to mix it with a little less water and just add more water as needed. I don't have any expertise in painting when it's really humid as we don't usually run into high humidity here though, so it might take a little experimenting before you get the perfect ratio for you. :)

Darling little table. 🥰 Thanks for sharing. I'm really intrigued by oil wax... I've never used it. Looks lovely.

You can also use a clearcoat rust oleum over your milk paint
Thank you so much! And you can use basically anything to seal the milk paint. I have used waxes, spray sealers, as well as a brush on topcoat. :)
