Cool video, doing a replay of GTA IV now. I just love the physics of the game and they were very conservative in the making of the game. At least in retrospect. All of it holds up, it looks old sure, never does it look like they tried to reach too far graphics or audiowise which makes it still very much playable and immersive. And because of the phenomenal story, gunplay, driving and the at the time mind blowingly detailed and busy setting there was never any need to reach too far and sacrifice performance or try to improve the graphics beyond capacity by faking it or doing false workarounds. The coolest part though is the npc's. Even now during my playthrough the streets of Liberty look properly busy and varied with npc's getting into fights with each other, cops pulling people over, people talking on their phones, people telling you to screw off if you stare or maybe they just get scared, people not being afraid to get into a fist fight unless you pull a gun on them and sometimes even then they'll fight, people road raging or cowering in fear depending on gender, if you have a weapon, if they have friends etc etc. homeless people everywhere especially under bridges and in alleys. The dark, bittre and depressing grey atmosphere is also perfectly executed and I think that is the part that really and truly makes the paint job on cars look so good even now. It also hides a lot of imperfections, I'd compare it to certain landscape oil paintings, walk up close and it looks absolutely godawful but step back and suddenly the imperfections melt together and create an almost flawless piece. The greyness and sometimes pitch black shadows, murky landscape and trashridden streets also set the tone very very very well. Sure the game is fun, but never do you forget that for Niko belic, this SUCKS All of this and more but still very much knowing and working with the limitations of the current generation of consoles so that there's no glaring issues like many other games that fly to close to the sun and end up with jarring graphical flaws that pull you out of the experience. I could go on forever. Anyways, GTA IV has got to be one of the objectively best video games ever made, ever. I put it miles above GTA 5 even. And GTA 5 is another monumental and historic game that I love But GTA 5 is basically sitting on the shoulder of a giant that is GTA IV. There really should be some sort of official establishment that gives out a reward for games like this. Not best graphics, story, music etc. Just a reward and recognition for being a true pillar of what gaming is today.
I remember the day I played GTA V for the first time. My disappointment was huge, it felt like a massive step backwards from IV. I’ve acclimatised to V now but I still feel like R* went backwards. I understand that V is a much bigger game etc and that’s where the details of IV were lost.
I'm starting to be convinced it was a result of technical limitations, of all things. It's clear that GTA 4 has below average/expected FPS on consoles and even PC, maybe they couldn't figure out a lot of the optimization needed to keep many of 4's features when trying to one-up the game with GTA 5. I think they wanted to go into a more "streamlined" direction rather than a "details" direction. Nonetheless I still believe GTA 4 is better than 5 in many aspects. On the other hand it's been almost 10 years since GTA 5 and computational power has increased across all platforms, so I think it's a safe bet GTA 6, having much more computational bandwidth, may even bring back some of these physics details and probably add a lot more too. It just comes down to how good they are optimizing it... which in today's development trends unfortunately is a process left behind more often than not. Fingers crossed Rockstar can pull through with it.
There's also a cool 'no wanted' glitch in Do You Have Protection. After the part where you leave the shop, quickly get in a vehicle and drive off before Dimitri can get in. Then you can explore all of the map and collect every weapon in the game, even pick up the hidden Sultan and park them at other safe houses. Then when you're ready to return just pick up Dimitri and finish the mission
yeah for some reason that doesn't happen on PC, I was considering putting it in but eh, too much work to get a jailbroken PS3 on MP. I'm working on another episode already though, could put it in...any other epic things u have in mind? I haven't played console in a few years so I don't remember if there's any more console-specific stuff like that either
@@catsmackaroo On console (in multiplayer) if you crouch walk then hold the run button.. your character should automatically un-crouch and be running, however when I was on PC MP this wasn't the case for me. I had to click the left stick in or spam A like 6 times before I could be running again. This was like this for me and another friend. But recently I had another person try this on PC and for them it was just like the console crouching / movement mechanics. So no idea.. try it and lmk.
Sorry bruhter, can't watch your videos, disconnected from the community :( Exams are on my face and I have to prepare. But I will be free by next month. Maybe I won't be there for 1000 subs celebration so congratulations on advance, you really deserve it ❤️👍

Always a good time when more GTAIV related content is uploaded.
Should be an urban warfare mod for this game damn! Imagine having long tense firefights between factions offline.
Holy shit this is high quality for a small channel

Me being shocked that this was released even tho I heard it on discord
Good video bro!
About movement , if we put secondary key for Sprinting and if we press that key theres a jogging animation for Niko instead of running
Ach ich Liebe GTA IV
Cool video man, keep it up!
The fact at 7:10 is actually plausible, Niko arrived at Liberty City with his own shotgun, the staff at the Platypus confiscated his ammunition.
Hello and welcome to another episode of my facts and glitches series, that i leard over 8000 hours of speed running gta iv

Sorry the public education system failed you “IV” is “four” in Roman numerals, not “eye vee”
