Imagine what Varimathras thought when he saw all the Undead, Trolls, Ogres, Murlocs and Bandits attacking his base and imagine bringing them on to the next missions
Varimathras: *thinking* Maybe I shouldn't have toyed with Sylvanas for too long and just went all out from the start

I like the Obsidian Statues. I think they were a cool addition to the undead.
I think there's a quest in WoW where we need to kill Mug'thol in the Alterac Mountains for whatever reason.
31:30 for those interested, only Mug'thol and Snarlmane are featured in WoW.
Mug'thol freed himself by putting on a special item and there is a quest chain to kill him.
Snarlmane is a rare spawn in silverpine Forest. He is undead :ccc

Among the best chapters in WC3 campaigns tbh. It will give you trouble in hard mode if you slip on the execution but the cheese here is just making banshees with an obsidian statue on mana replenishment near in order to have enough mana to cast possession and pick abominations. When you go for the side quests always have at least 4 banshees on the base. Abominations can actually soak a lot of damage with upgrades and since the AI on hard will attack frequently you always have abominations to tank the waves. I actually forgot to save my game before invading the red base because one unit slipped and aggro the red undead base. My upkeep was like 139 when I entered the red base - an absolute avalanche of units which was the coolest part in this mission 😁
It's hilarious Jay the fact that beside the puddle lord you possessed some of his other units too by accident and then thought that they were given to you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know it's probably silly, but on this level, I took inspiration from you, and rather than building ziggurats, I built necropoli and upgraded them to halls of the dead for defence, it worked pretty well, especially with that glyph of fortification.
Time-stamps
2:50 - Have Sylvanas break some crates southwest for a Skull Shield, keep the Goblin Mines
3:23 - Have four of your banshees possess four ogres northwest of your base. Afterwards, head down left to attack some gnolls.
3:45 - Leave two banshees and the black statues at base.
4:16 - Get a ghoul upgrade, followed by generating two ghouls
4:40 - Make sure you have two ice ziggurats guarding the north side of your base. Await for the first onslaught!
5:00 - Possess at least three of the abominations. After the first defense, have at least four banshees available.
5:17 - Set up three more ziggurats on the eastern side.
5:45 - Set up the ice ziggurats instead of the normal-purple ones. That way, you slow the enemies down instead of killing them.
5:57 - Generate two more ghouls
6:35 - Have Sylvanas and four banshees head down the left side of the home-base, recruit Snarlmane! Have all of the banshees possess somebody
7:30 - At home, some abominations should be attacking the east side of your base. Take one of the servants off the gold mine to build more ziggurats on the east side. Send your abominations over there for defense, send two banshees over there to possess some of them.
8:25 - Train more acolytes for the other gold mine. Have Sylvanas break all of the crates.
9:00 - Get some more upgrades, including cannibalize, which should apply to your abominations
9:35 - Send Sylvanas over easy to kill some forest trolls.
10:10 - Don’t need to possess any of the nerubian spiders who may attack your base
10:45 - Build two more towers on the eastern side
10:40 - Send six ghouls to the north, head for the rock line and start attacking.
11:35 - Check on the ghouls, make sure they’re not killing.
12:20 - Build some more towers along the north side
12:35 - Send about six or seven banshees up north, near the rocks and ogres
13:05 - Have at least two obsidian statues, one for mana and the other for health.
13:30 - As for the banshees, have all of them try to possess the big red ogre
14:18 - Have the ogres destroy the nearby tents, generate more banshees!
15:00 - Have Sylvanas pick up the scroll of replenishment to heal the nearby banshees, preferably four of them.
15:30 - At home base, if abominations attack, have your banshees possess two of them.
16:30 - Send most of the ogres back to home-base. Have Sylvanas with four or five banshees and two ogres proceed east. Have all of the banshees aim at possessing the big Puddle murloc; that’s all you need.
18:18 - At home base, make sure you have an acolyte on repairs. Maintain your line of zigguarats on both fronts.
Meanwhile, have Sylvanas and her ogre-murloc unit head further east.
18:50 - When you see the red base, only send Sylvanas down the northwest side because you don’t want to aggro the red base. Have Sylvanas aggro the trolls, then send two of your banshees to possess the troll chief.
If Sylvanas dies, at least she gets sent back to base quickly.
19:47 - Build four meat wagons!
20:20 - Send your joint troll-murloc-ogre forces back to home-base, just try to not aggro the red base.
21:45 - Build another obsidian statue
22:15, 23:20, 24:08 - Prepare some banshees (around eight or nine) and maybe some other units to recruit the human leader south of the red base.
22:30 - Have Sylvanas attack the human-gate. Try not to kill any of the humans because you recruit all of them if you possess their leader.
24:00 - Build two more meat wagons, recruit two more acolytes.
24:27, 25:10 - Make sure that Sylvanas destroyed the human gate. Send your banshees outside of the gate, clumped together, so they can make a bee-line for the human boss.
26:25, 27:38 - Send your human forces near the red base - at the southern home icon location - keep them there until your main forces move out.
27:40 - Send your demi-hero forces and obsidian statues over to the humans, south of the red base. Actually, send the bulk of your forces over!
27:50 - Leave about six ogres or so behind, one meat wagon.
28:50 - Have Sylvanas destroy some crates for the Staff of Negation. That can be used to cancel skeletons
29:50 , 30:08 - Attack the red base!!!
To make this map much easier, attack the southeastern, purple base right away. This way, you don’t have to worry about managing your flank, and you get another gold mine.
30:09 - Silvannas: Umm...Yes Varimathras, and I brought friends with me to prove it, It's just my thing.
I think this was a pretty cool map.
It also makes me think of that Enslavers II Brood War map where you have to run around killing Hives (I think it was that) with only a small force and Dark Archons, which you also said to have enjoyed compared to other maps. As well as the Bonus mission at the end of the the Zerg Campaign where you have to investigate Stasis Cells.
My favorite main story mission
Sylvanas saying to dreadlord: You fool.
Sylvanas couple of years later: makes deal with the Jailor and not realizing how true her words to that dreadlord were.
Jay: just posessed the other murlocs and puddlelord

On the surprise attack mission I made the mistake of killing the Undead first, not knowing that when you possess Knights they loose upgrades, so I was getting stomped when they attack with their own Knights + Garithos' Devotion Aura
Ah! One of my favorite missions as well. Is it just me, or is this map have sort-of an SC1 vibe?

The bug of mission complete is so persistent that even jay stopped talking about it (witch is fine by the way), and why I keep beliving that if you poses a worker with silvanas ult he can actually build a base?
Ëdit: the banshee speaking is the one of best i saw in the entire walktrough
14:05 so how DOES banshee possession work, exactly? It's not a complete overwrite. Mug'thol there is still speaking as Mug'thol and not as Howara Sunsurpriser. Is it more like, the banshee becomes a voice in their head that tells them to do things?
Maybe the same way the lich king commands the undead?
I know you wrote this a year ago, but the original WC3 actually had 2 detailed manuals that came with the game. What happens is the banshee forcibly removes the soul of the victim and replaces it with her own, thus the ogre sounds the same but the banshee is very much in control of the body.
@@nordrassil1 that manual description doesn't make any sense
if the high elf replaced the ogre in the body then it should be like a gruff ogre voice using high elf terminology
I guess it could be that the high elf is _pretending_ to speak as she thinks an ogre might and it ends up being the same as the original
@@Zidana123 Apparently they're night elven spirits lol. Idk, you could just chalk it up to the training banshees require to learn possession. They can do and sound however they like to imitate any victims. 😂

Varimathras's new facial hair is... a weird choice. He didn't have it in WoW, from what I can tell. I mean, obviously he could shave, so it's not exactly /inconsistent/, but it's definitely weird.
He has the same facial hair in WOW. I think they updated his model in wrath before the wrath gate.

I have the old version of warcraft3 ... and I've downloaded some custom campaigns but I can't add them to the game !! Any thoughts ?!
Make sure your Warcraft III is on the latest patch before reforged. Some custom campaigns can't run on earlier versions
