being able to dual wield these blasters is really sweet thanks to double action and I wasn’t expecting such a high muzzle velocity, but the hopper design is definitely a problem. I think this is a pretty great steal for $30 though, nice review!
My sons and I are huge fans of these gel guns; we enjoy them so much that I bought three packs of these- two packs of the shotguns with the 5 shots, one of the longer ones with the extended barrel, and one semi-automatic. I must say, Nerf has really stepped up their game with these gel guns compared to their traditional foam bullet blasters.
Another brilliant review, that's very typical for hopper fed gel blasters needing a shake every now and then, I think Nerf is moving ahead in leaps and bounds right now and again their designers are on point, imagine these designs using half darts, to me these would reign.
I remember having a BB one with a similar mechanism when younger, around 20 years ago, unfortunately my brother shoot himself and my parents disappeared it
Actually found out how to improve the hopper. You can place a little wood triangle. Takes a bit of space but not as much and the gel balls can slide down
Definitely impressive seeing as with hardened gels My gelfire legion averages 155fps with the highest I've seen being in the 190s and quite a few in the 180s so I'd bet these with hard gels would be hard hitters
Just got mine today and I agree with pretty much everything you said. When I first unboxed and started putting the gel balls I dropped like 7 of them on the floor which sucked. There is very little space to put the gel balls and you will definitely drop some. Another thing is to reach the trigger my index finger does not fully overlap so I find using the index finger plus the middle finger easier too shoot and I got adult hands. Other than that I have yet to take it outside and test it but really kind of disappointed just from initial impressions. On the plus side I’m getting the Ghost today also and hopefully it will be much better.
@@foamquestI tested the Ghost and the Dual pistols they where firing really bad they shot two gellets at a time or chopped up gellets. I tried firing them different ways loading them different and still they shot the same. I thought I had a defective guns or something or the guns sucked I was disappointed . Then I loaded up my other gel blaster the Surge XL and it was shooting the same chopped up or 2 at a time. So then I came to the conclusion it was the ammo because it’s can’t be that I have 2 defective brand new guns. So I rehydrate brand new gellets and tested again and wow now we are talking night and day difference they shot 1 at a time and accurate I am happy. The Ghost performed really well there is really nothing bad to say other than maybe you will feel a little fatigue because it’s mechanical and you will be doing allot of pulling. The extend barrel I think added more range but it took away some power they shot farther with it on but looked like it was more aerodynamic taking away some force. Other cool thing is the iron sights actually work you can aim this gun unlike the ones with a hopper on the top. The dual pistols also pack a punch they are pretty strong for how small they are. However there are some problems with the pistol design one is the tray is really small and you will drop some it’s really hard not to drop while loading. Second is the trigger it is really extended and hard too squeeze you will need two fingers too shoot and over time they will hurt. Last bad thing about it is when you have few gellets they will not fire because there aren’t more gellets pushing them to the front so you have to tilt gun forward and try to get them in the hole. Overall the Ghost is a keeper for me and the Dual guns I might return given the design flaws stated I might buy the shotgun instead. If you read this tell me if I should keep the pistols or get the shotgun instead as it’s only 10 dollars more.
@Marco-em2in Um, hmm, return the Duel Pack for the Raid? Maybe! I do like them both quite a lot, but if I HAD to choose, I've had more fun with the Raid! Do whatever you think is best! :)
@@foamquest Yeah I’m gonna use them a little more and see if I can live with the downsides . The Raid seems more interesting being able to fire 5 rounds but it does shoot lower fps than the pistols so I’m gonna think about it. Thanks for the advise :)
Yeah, everyone seems to hate the hoppers on these. I dont think the divide in the hopper is a big deal you're not gonna run around with your arms stuck out bone straight the entire time, you're gonna put your arms down and face the pistols downward which will shift more gel rounds to the front of the hopper so, I dont see that being any major issue. But yeah, someone needs to get fired over that hopper lid design. Hopefully maybe one of the 3D aftermarket nerf guys will make a fix or redesign and some kind of efficient no spill quick loader for these.
I had just asked when we'd see the Dual Wield review in my reply to your reply in the Ghost comments, spooky. Uh, when am I going to win the lottery? (Fingers crossed it works again)
It's very possible to pull with one finger, but it's definitely easier with two! I generally start out using one and only start using two when my hand gets tired.
I might get these when they go on sale. Maybe someone can 3d print a new custom hopper or a slope for the backhalf to feed the feeding issue (at the cost of capacity). How's the trigger pull feel? Is it heavy?
Right, I'm thinking about getting my first gel blaster(one of the new zuru ones) as they're available in the uk. How long does it usually take the rounds to soak? in this case 10,00. Because im not sure. I hope you don't mind me asking 😊.
It sometimes depends on water, but they won't over expand, so I generally do it overnight. But technically, I think they only need to go around 4 hours! Ask anytime! :)
@jackboulter4901 I was conflicted but ended up deciding on getting a replacement polycarbonate plunger tube from SilverFox, but they're currently sold out! Just waiting for them to be restocked! Lol
First to comment and these blasters are really surprisingly impressive, if only the hopper was angled a bit upward then it would eliminate the misfeeding
Honestly, when I bought this I experienced 2 problems lol 1:the trigueros is uncomfortable (for small fingers and hands) 2: the handle is okay but I did get a small blister Any guns you can recommend me for me to use?
Yeah, it sounds like these weren't the best fit for you. Could you specify what kind of gel blaster you're looking for, as well as price range? I may be able to recommend something that could work!
@Mindflayer_e Does it have to be Nerf branded? There is one electronic Nerf branded gel blaster, (the Mythic),but it is a bit less powerful than some other options. Have you tried Gel Zone Pro blasters? There are some really great options from them and other brands. One other thing, are you based in the United States? If so, I can tell you about some fantastic, specific deals!
@foamquest I am in the United States I have used battery powered gel blasters and I've seen the splatrball so I might buy that and give you a feed back on it!
Depends on your preference! These blasters are more powerful than the Legion and can easily be duel wielded, but if used for an extended period of time, they are a bit of a hand workout! With the Legion, you're getting a faster rate of fire capability (slamfire) and upgradeable capacity! Let me know if you have any questions!
@@foamquest Thank you very much for your answer. I want to buy 2 blasters for me and my girlfriend to play together. And wanted to know what would be the best option.
Double action triggers are quite uncommon with nerf, so far this is the 3rd blaster. Quite surprised with the FPS considering it is double action and you did not complain about weight of the trigger. The hopper design is really like the Rival SMG with the rechargable battery (forgot the name) sigh nerf learn your lessons please. Well yes this is the first double action gel blaster. However, there are also cheap china gel blasters which are also double action floating around. I own one actually haha
@@speeddemon5339 Yep just recently learned of that blaster's existence... Im a younger nerfer so did not know about dart tag, grew up in the retaliator and strongarm era. Thanks for the correction though!
Wow, I was really excited for the low profile pistol design but double action makes it an immediate hard pass. I'm pretty weak apparently even for an adult and a couple dozen shots of double action blasters hurts my fingers and wrist. If they ever do an electric pistol I'd consider it though! Thanks for the awesome review!
