MERZBOW - Dolphin Sonar [Full Album]. Thanks for uploading this masterpiece of conceptual sonic art. I grew up on Whitehouse, Come Organization, Throbbing Gristle, Alvin Curran, Iannis Xenakis, all the classic experimental noise music from the 1920s onward. It's one of my favorite genres and the younger crowd would be amazed that this type of Anti Music began with the Futurists of the 1920s and their primitive intonarumori machines. Harsh abrasive noise is hands down (whatever that means) the EASIEST music on earth to make. Lots of the new synthesizers like Korg lean toward the raunchy crunchy industrial grit and grim tones. It's the most simple and effortless music you could possibly make, even more so than minimalism and techno and new wave, but it's ANARCHY FUN and guaranteed to piss off heavy metal, classic rock, etc. fans and those who argue about how it "is not music" according to old moldy aesthetic theory from 1825.
That's why Noise is such a beautiful genre. Anyone can make noise, but it's the damn hardest to stand out in a genre that's, well, noise. Killer Bug and Merzbow and Whitehouse stand out heavily to me in this genre due to them not just being "Audacity with heavy delays and reverb". They actually put their time and effort into it and convey emotion with noise. I believe those who are the most popular in noise music deserve it.
@@SPYROcard Same here! im doing homework rn and it helps my mind to not think abt anything else since there's no lyrics to sing or beat to emulate with anything.
He's a big enough name for people who aren't noise fans to hear about him from the hipper music publications, so they come expecting something arty and then get bulldozered. It doesn't help that music journalists are the softest people in the world when it comes to abrasion, so they'll talk about 70's punk rock like it's noise. The audience hears what they're told is noisy and thinks "oh, I can handle noisy" and then the aforementioned bulldozering happens.
Funnily enough i think pitchfork listed this as one of thr worst album cover arts, and personally the album cover was lowkey the highlight for me as well
I'm playing this in 2 separate browser tabs at the same time with 19 minutes offset. The result is stereo dual sonar lush wonderland of sound. Seriously, extra dense soundscapes and more satisfying.
Musically i don't really give a lot about Pure Noise, but i have to admit it gives me this... certain physical... tingling sensation and i really kinda like that. Rhythmic Noise is a different chapter though.
oh yeah, the telemarketing scammers are going to enjoy this! I personally like how this was recommended to me, handing the phone to my feline secretary just won't do.
The first noise album I heard was one by Merzbow, it was kinda more structured that anything I've listened by him afterwards. It had the track "Promotion Man", so look it up. I don't remember the name of the album and I'm not home right now and should actually be working :C
terrorfakt is a good rhythmic noise artist with songs like welcome to hell and arsenal being some of my fav songs from him also check out the record label ant-zen records

+Gabriel Ramirez As much as I love harsh noise, there is much debate over whether or not its music. For example, is the sound of footsteps, or a refrigerator hum music? No, its noise, and this is Harsh noise, seperate from everything
datsun51 They could be considered music, if you take the definition of music at its most abstract levels. Music in its purest definition is rhythm and melody, yet there is plenty of classical music with melody, but no discernible rhythm, and drum solos with no melody are considered music. Subtract both melody and rhythm, you've still got music in nature. Noise is just one step removed from that.
Someone needs to make a "Dolphins react to Merzbow'S Dolphin Sonar"-Video
1. fuck reaction videos 2. dolphins are rapists
Someone did. PETA was successful in having it destroyed and the people responsible are serving the first life sentences for animal cruelty

+Steven Streight And yet so much of it is boring crap. A sense of dynamics and SOME musicality helps immensely. Merzbow has both.

i feel like i'm a dolphin caught in a naval sonar beam test

If you can appreciate texture in music there is nothing like Merzbow
It may sound dumb, but I'm hearing this while making homework, and it's somehow helping me a lot lmao
@Mr Gonorrhea I'm back here, and for the same reason lol, it really has some interesting effects in my cognitive skills
@@SPYROcard Same here! im doing homework rn and it helps my mind to not think abt anything else since there's no lyrics to sing or beat to emulate with anything.
the classic merzbow microdose
Not dumb at all! I listen to harsh noise while drawing and painting.
Aaand, just for my yearly basis, I'm back here 'cause of some homework, hehe
Oh my god my body is having feels all over the place and its only been 32 seconds. MERZBOW
He's not going to sleep with you.
It's like trying to get online in the 90's again....
When your lost in Ecco
most based shit i've ever read
why do people come to Merzbow videos just to say how bad it is or how they don't "get the appeal"?
+Dalton Swayze To troll fans of Merzbow.
Maybe they came to give it a try (commendable) and hated it.

This album cover is atrocious. I want it in my house.

Rhythmic Noise is a different chapter though.
This "tingling sensation" you're feeling is probably ASMR: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_sensory_meridian_response
"Attention induced head orgasm"
Seems about right.
You're getting ASMR from Merzbow? How the hell is that possible? I love Merzbow, but...I'm sorry, man, I don't understand how that could happen
happens to me to. Guess some of us are just sensitive
when the frequences get really low is not impossibile to feel asmr
so nostalgic 😔🙏
cool
the intentionally shitty cover is perfect IMO. perfectly fits the vibe and style of the album

Merzbow is a hero.
I should make a painting of him.
He would like that
I really like the song at around 23 minutes or so
Interesting Album, Merzbow is one of my inspirations from my own project !
5 yo and listening to dis thumb up if u agree music today is bad
Lmao
This sounds nice through my built in laptop speakers, but not my headphones or pc speakers. Huh.
Switch it around with higher end stuff, who knows
i dont know why the album cover made me think that this was going to be any different
Can anybody give some references of "rhythmic noise"? Should it be something close to Pan-sonic for instance?

Not all music makes you feel good, there is music to make you sad, angry, and any other emotion you can feel.
