      Definitely a larger shed with a hedge in front. You won’t regret it. You are future proofing, It could be a little workshop ‘boys’ to bond in when baby is older
      Also great you are breastfeeding. If you can/want to, breastfeed for as long as you possible , think about solids after about 8 months, better for the child’s IQ immunity, teeth, gut biome and of course attachment I am not a diehard advocate, this is research based advice, but obviously it is up to you what you choose, as there are plenty of people out there doing well who were not breastfed. Btw you look like you are the best parents.

      Do the larger shed. My hubby had a 3 car detached garage built much to my chagrin. However, I’ve taken over 1/3 for a “She Shed” that I use more than I could ever have imagined. Win / win for both of us. BTW, Laura, did you really just have a baby? You look amazing!!

    I am an avid gardener, my husband and I create lush full gardens and believe it or not, I think the shed should be enlarged. There are so many online photos of lovely shed designs in narrow gardens to take inspiration from. You will love being organized and having a place for all your tools, garden supplies and children's toys, which will accumulate through the years.

    Maybe you can extend the shed by 25%. I’m a big garden area person, especially with children, they can use a lot of outdoor space for all their imaginative play, swing set, etc. Important to give them lots of outdoor play options instead of too much time in front of a screen.

    The shed has a decent size; 50-100% bigger is a tad too big, but an extra meter over the entire length sounds as a good idea. Looking forward to all the upcoming renovations. BTW, Teddy and Otto are always way too cute 🥰 when appearing in the videos… oh, and Teddy’s laughter at the end… 😍

    I think the shed is big enough as it is! We have three kids (youngest is 3) and this is the forever argument in our house too.. however the kids live in the garden especially in the summer and they need a lot of space to run around in, have a little playhouse, kick a ball, have a sandpit and water play etc.. also it’s nice to have some flowers and have a vegetable patch as well as seating. You need to see where your sun is and, ideally, you’d speak to a garden designer to maximise the space etc.. there’s a lot that goes into the planning of a garden and people often overlook how much value it adds to people’s lives as well as the value of a property if well planned out.
    We also have bikes and need storage but looking at the dimensions you have (and the loft space!) I’d say it’s big enough already. Good luck - such an exciting project!

    I am similar to you, Laura, and would prefer the garden. My husband wants a garden office desperately. We don't technically need it, but he really wants it. I say let Ollie have his shed - he seems like he deserves it. 😊

    Methinks family garden space is imperative! Veg garden, fruit trees etc. would add value. And if the shed was reconfigured you'd be able to get everything you needed in there... and safe, also it is my understanding same size shed means no further planning permissions to pay for. 🎼 Somewhere that's greeeenn🎶😜😁

  • @user-us9pr7vz1r
    @user-us9pr7vz1r 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Definitely bigger shed! Just think of all the tools and supplies that are in your home now - all over in different rooms. All of that will need to go somewhere when your renovations come to an end (does it ever truly end? :) I am a Professional Organizer my suggestion is to inventory all your tools, garden equipment, sports equipment, car needs, children's stroller & outside toys, any seasonal items and decor etc and draw out a plan for storage - work bench, shelving, cupboards, hooks... that will help you determine how much space is needed. It will also be wonderful to have electric out there. Also Laura, you may have an area in the shed for your gardening needs! I agree with other comments that it will be a wonderful space for the family to do future projects together.

    Laura and Ollie, I think the shed is big enough, to double it’s size and make it more beautiful have a Victorian pitched roof and put a mezzanine in the roof. Make the shed pretty to reflect some of the architectural details on your house, could look like a cute little garden shed. Love the idea of a larger garden, more plans/trees and pretty garden beds with lots of lawn.

    Wow! As it is now, your shed is larger than my living room, bedroom and bathroom put together! 😂 And I'm sorry, but I'm with Ollie on this one. A bigger shed seems like a great idea, even if it doubles in size! You'll probably need to store a lot of toys, outdoor activity stuff and other things as the baby grows older , and a lot of those are pretty big. Ollie might want a couple of new toys to fit in there and it would be amazing if he wants to get a little workshop in there for all your renovation adventures.
    I don't know what you guys need, but I think a bigger shed is a really good idea. 😊❤

    Your shed should include a greenhouse as you took the other down. Once you have a little one and a dog and you want to try your hand at growing things later on you will need the space and to store Oliver's equipment and tools and garden furniture in winter. You look great and better than most do that I have seen and healthy too is good. I think wait a year give you time to establish a routine and recovery for you. Maybe waiting for your neighbours are doing their renovation you can work on a plan that works for you and them. I always thought it a bit weird those windows for the neighbour before. If they take the windows down first will save you the issue of having them as doesn't make sense to block them. Though if asked you could well move your kitchen into where your garden room is instead and use the space from there to the actual dining room space to make it more square. Use the former kitchen into an home office / study and craft room.

  • @firewomannz3628
    @firewomannz3628 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If you want your kids to live with you as long as possible, as you say, then expand and futureproof the shed. Bigger shed = DIY/Workshop now (supporting your DIY TH-cam channel which brings you income). Bigger shed mid-term equals storage (your Mum will approve). Bigger shed later = room for your teenagers to host their friends. They'll love the extra space "away from their parents" and will be more likely to stay and host at home (and you’ll know where they are).
    Besides, 2 patios seems busy, although I'm sure you'd do it beautifully. I'd have one decent sized patio for entertaining, then some grass area. Boys really just need a tree for climbing. And I agree with all the other comments that Ollie seems absolutely delightful, as do you, straight-jacket Otto and of course little Ted.❤

    Hmmm. A Laura She-shed or futute office ( not necessarily a man-cave)... Reality is you need a storage and working area as you move towards bigger family. That shed could be a kids play room with paints or ... Make one room in shed multiple use..
    Have you put a fan or heat movtivated exhaust in the attic? Seems a regular install in most US homes. Will save storage items also.

    I'm listening to this conversation, particularly re the shed; I predict that you will move house within 5-6 years! Also, having lived with an open plan (old stone schoolhouse) I rejoiced when we moved - and we had rooms, with doors on! It was heaven. If I was you, I would think very carefully about taking down your sitting room wall and going fully open plan. Believe me, the novelty of that wears off, very very quickly.

    6x5 meters is massive for a shed!!! No need to cut into the garden. Unless you turn half of it into a summer house.

    Laura, it is so cute and enjoyable to hear Teddy cooing on the video and to get a glimpse of his adorable face on camera. Your joy of becoming parents is truly a pleasure to watch. With all the remodel work ahead of you, you seem so patient and unworried about the projects to be done and it is apparent that no matter, you are going to remain a loving and happy family. Blessings on you all🤗

    Thank god for granny pants. I never gave them up after my daughter was born I couldn’t go back 😎 I have to say that shade of navy looks fantastic on you.

    I am with Ollie on the shed conversation bit. The larger the space the better, then you can use it as a proper workshop, have more storage etc.

    I agree with Ollie on the shed. (Sorry Laura.) I think making it bigger will be great for the future, or, you could put the attic things in it and then you don't need to worry about the heat up there.
    Thanks for the update on the renos. Whatever you two decide it will be gorgeous, I think we all know that.

    It's great to see you back Laura and Ollie, along with Baby Teddy and Oscar. You look amazing Laura and Motherhood suits you. Great to see Ollie being a wonderful Dad, not that I ever doubted it to begin with. As a couple you are inspirational. I know how difficult it is to juggle everything and you are both doing amazing. Looking forward to seeing your future plans come to fruition. ❤
