    Awesome Video! I have a pair of 9800-40 in HA. I just setup in production with a few sites in other states. Now I'm going back filling in the knowledge gaps and looking for more advanced items to make my install better. Do you have any content on procedures that show an ISSU software upgrade? Pitfalls? I need to setup a lab with the cloud 9800 like you mentioned too. I didn't know that was available. Thank you

      Once you get past Gibraltar (hoping you already are) 17.3, or 17.9.3 has support for wave 1 APs, which are the releases along with Cisco Gold Star releases we are currently recommending. ISSU is solid, remember some older clients may not support the 802.11v message that the AP is going down, so you may experience some disruption doing the updates during normal hours. as long as your Voice devices support it the upgrade is fairly smooth even when hitting low peak hours.

      @@chrisavants Nice! thank you for the super fast response. I should of added my code ver. 17.3.5b That's the ver I installed before building the HA last year. Up from 16.12.
      I saw the health monitor icon in your video next to the AP Operational Configuration icon (ORG Chart looking) and that seems cool to have. Is it very helpful?
      I gave your website training info to my manager because I was going to sign up for myself but the team needs to learn this as well. I'm the only member on my team that has any knowledge of this system so far. :)
      All this is happening in the Admin areas across the sites but I saw you have industrial wireless as well. THAT will be interesting as well. Our wireless crane yards (69 cranes) are on my older 5520s with outdoor APs and WGBs. So if the your content supports that I will love to work through that as well.
      Thanks Again

    Thanks for sharing yet another great one. We have a virtual 9800 pn VM. There is a Sr Engineer that does a lot of stuff but we have a project where we are deploying some outdoor 9124 APs. Some of them are in a mesh set up where we have one connecting directly to a network switch and the other AP will feed of that one. Been looking for a tutorial or info on setting them up. The other ones are not too much of a problem but thats where I have the hardest time. Just wondering if you have anything on that. I will check out the video above more also.

      The course you are looking for is Cisco 9800 - Remote Office Flex, which will also cover mesh. It should be out around February at WiFiTraining.com

    Great video thanks, please can you deep dive C9800-CL HA N+1 & SSO. would appreciate principals arround controller and AP fail over mechanisms. This necessary to utilize ISSU, SMU, APSP, and APDP 🙏

      We cover this in a course I did, let me see if we can release that clip here.

      I am not sure if AP SSO is supported by N+1HA

    • @chrisavants
      @chrisavants  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@karnikamit SSO = 1 logical controller, so you could still make it part of N+1 type strategies where one critical side has SSO, and maybe a geo-redundant controller in a different DC for the +1. There are so many options with IOS-XE, it's a pretty incredible platform.

    Why using VLAN name and not the VLAN ID under the policy profile?

    • @chrisavants
      @chrisavants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because I can always change or add VLAN's with a named object, with numbers you cannot:) You Should always use named objects, even further I typically create named interface groups or VLAN groups even if we add 1 VLAN to start, just to have room for growth without reconfiguration:)

    Trying to get the WLC to use radius authen. with a Windows 2019 server with no luck. I have followed several guides to the T. No luck. Is ISE needed. APs that are not managed by an WLC works fine. Any suggestions?

      Are you using NPS or some thing else? I would need to know some details to help troubleshoot. What do the logs say?

      @@chrisavants Thanks for the reply, I figured out my problem. I had to reconfigure my connection policy on the NPS server.
