The good ones will kill a coyote size animal with a well placed shot and is pretty quiet so you dont spook your neighbors. I live in a burb that borders south Chicago. I hear them howling and have seen a big one the size of a German Shepard Dog. We also have a lot of foxes that will if hungry enough go after cats. I agree better to keep cats indoors. My vermin killing formerly mouse killing and feral 20 pound giant of a tomcat is living the life of luxury in my climate controlled house while harassing my two female cats.

Depends on the cat really. Cats that have attitude and fight back like Rosie will live another day. If the coyote catches the cat napping or the cat just tries to run, it usually doesn't go too well for the cat. Cats against multiple coyotes are usually toast, sadly.
