My cat escaped a coyote attack as well. She did so by climbing up a security light pole. While the coyote was so focused on getting to the cat, he did not realize I was at my back door with a .308 rifle. One safe cat, one extremely dead coyote.

@@SpartanThe300th If you are in a location where shooting them with a firearm is not an option look into a high powered air rifle. The good ones will kill a coyote size animal with a well placed shot and is pretty quiet so you dont spook your neighbors.
I live in a burb that borders south Chicago. I hear them howling and have seen a big one the size of a German Shepard Dog.
We also have a lot of foxes that will if hungry enough go after cats. I agree better to keep cats indoors. My vermin killing formerly mouse killing and feral 20 pound giant of a tomcat is living the life of luxury in my climate controlled house while harassing my two female cats.

One of my big tomcats got attacked by a coyote once, Casper walked away with a few wounds, the coyote walked away blind. We saw the poor thing a few days later wandering aimlessly through the field, skinny and sick, my dad shot it and both of it's eyes has basically been scratched out.

i have a KOS policy for coyotes on my farm and keep an ar in my truck for that exact purpose. Screw those things. they dont even eat their prey a good % of the time.

Thin cats run faster, put Rosie on a diet.

Thin cats also get snapped up and crunched, this is one of few occasions where it was useful.

If you know if there are coyotes in the area then why don’t you keep your pets indoors? That is a no-brainer.
