Thank you once again for the detailed video. I especially like when you focus on something and shut out the surrounding noise. I enjoy when you walk through nature and ask lots of questions to the local people. I have a good feeling that the nice man that accompanied you to the town is Belmin’s dad? 😊
I am 28 years old, from Bosnia, and while watching your video, I was reminded of my childhood and visiting my grandparents in the countryside. You've awakened a sense of nostalgia with this video. There's nothing better than nature, children's play, a carefree mind, and eating fresh fruit. I don't think I'll ever have such deep sleep as I did during my childhood. Everything seemed more beautiful back then. Thank you once again for this clip.
@@BenTheRulesThe degree to which it was actually directly impacted by combat compared with how it may be been economically impacted seems unknown. As the guide mentioned, the fighting wasn’t as heavy in this area. The exodus of the youth seems to be the real culprit to the village disappearing. I have visited similar villages and this seems not much smaller than what it may have been.

Hi Ben. Thanks for a new film. I love your stories and communication with locals, I learn and understand more and more of Bosnian language. What is sad, it's impact of the fu...ing war, I wish people become more gentle, rich, educated and nice to each other. Greetings from Ukraine. Pozdrav.
Great adventure man! As a language learner that loves to travel in the Balkans, I would be really interested to know more about your process in learning the language? I don't know if you have covered this in a previous video already though?
I’m planning on making a video about this soon, but I learned it over time speaking with friends and especially traveling in the region. The people are really friendly and willing to help you learn
,Sarajevo is #1 tourist destination according to National Geographic for 2024, and looks better then most European capitals, you'll hardly notice any signs of war... this guy goes to film places where people just don't want to live anymore, as they moved to cities.
Sarajevo is an amazing city, and I’ve made some videos there too. I don’t mean to imply that all of Bosnia is like this, but I’ve stayed in this region a good amount and I wanted to show this interesting corner of the country. Pozdrav!

In some places (rural areas), yes. The whole country is by no means like this-as the other commenter says the cities are generally doing pretty well, especially Sarajevo/Banja Luka
Sad to see that people just living their lives had to flee because they were the wrong religion (Christian) and that it most likely were people from neighboring villages who threatened them. Also, that the possible reason why this village was located so isolated far up the mountain was that the people who founded the village back in the day had done so to escape from Turkish oppression.
hey, displaced people go 3 ways, 3 religions 3 ethnicities(they are all the same), it truly is a messed up situation in bosnia, something similar is happening ukraine today, borther against brother, never again, tito was a saint compared to politicians after his death!

My favorite Bosnia Content Factory is back up and running!!!
the real Balkan experience is certainly on this channel 💯👏👏
That’s the goal! Thanks for watching 👍
Awesome video Ben! The amount of sheep those guys had was truly insane
Thanks Andrea :) hope you’re well! Walking through all those sheep was surreal, it was so loud 😭
Please don't call it "war torn", please. It's been 30 years since the war, Bosnia has changed drastically
The country isn’t war torn, but this village is. It will unfortunately probably never recover to the way it was pre-war

Now I correct my post from below. Olovci may be pencils but olovo is lead (pb). Maybe there are deposits of lead nearby.
hope guys are safety walking through
Have you visited Visoko before?

Nope, only passed by in the car & train. Would love to go sometime though. Šta ima da vidim tamo (osim piramida!)?

What a lovely trip! Doesn't Olovci translate as pencils ?
Olov is Lead like the metal, any lead industry around there.

If the Turks oppressed Serbs (Christians), why did Serbs attack catholic Slovenia and Croatia at the beginning? Your logic is kinda flawed.
@@lordnicholasbuzanthefearle2155because Croatia and Slovenia are Catholic and Serbia is Orthodox🤨
