If you keep one of those enemies at the end of the hallway alive after feeding the hippo, you can flame more berries from the bush. The enemy will eat them and make a funny mmmm noise. It's so adorable, I never forgot over the years. Sadly, reignited doesn't have this. I agree, they overlooked a lot of the little details that helped made the game so magical and replayable.
5:48 Is that fog? One of the big technological breakthroughs in the first Spyro was LOD (level of detail) rendering, where the detail of an object got better the closer you got to it. This allowed the developers to make big levels where you can see distant objects, without taxing the hardware of the time. You can see that most easily with the long gliding portions of Cliff Town, one of the Peace Keepers levels in the original game. Before LOD rendering was developed, game makers would cover distant areas with fog. It's strange to see that they reimplemented fog here, when they already pioneered LOD rendering.
Anyone else heard that "Yes..." at 10:39 after the hippo finishes talking? Sounds like someone from the voice studio got recorded in that line or something. :P
The first thing I thought when revisiting this level recently was the possibility this could have singlehandedly kickstarted an inflation fetish for some people. Is it no surprise Spyro has a big Deviantart following? I don't say this to be derogatory, I've been one and/or the other myself, perhaps I still am.
The peacock screaming is my FAVORITE. I love this level, always one of my favorites. I’m actually livid that the peacock doesn’t make that noise in the PS4 remake. The creators didn’t pay enough attention to the little details.
You cannot collect everything in the first visit, unless you exploit glitches. The game requires you to get an ability from the next home world to complete this level 100%, but you have to finish this level once in order to get to the next home world.

The hippo is a noble, majestic creature that will utterly destroy you if adequately provoked.
I think this is the only level where the enemies and the NPCs are not directly antagonistic to each other.
I loved this level! I especially loved the "ay-errr"-enemies, always thought they were so cute! Can't wait for the reignited trilogy!
Which enemies were those?
Yeah!😀 They looked like Indian Jawas)

i think it’s more for style. make it look more ‘shady’
I actually think this level and Scorch gave me an idea for a great new scene for the story I'm working on at the moment.
Ooh! I'd like to hear about it
That sounds interesting, what is it about?
Love those peacocks as fodder for Shady Oasis.
that corridor to shady oasis is so nostalgic
This stage was awesome
I love this level so much!
8:18 I love seeing/hearing the enemies hurting other enemies for fun, like the genie throwing bombs at the little scimitar guy
yeah too bad the remakes missed that ._.
@@KonaSquidThe graphics on theremake are good and all but the original games will always be a great favourite of my and many other's childhoods.
a very fun level
@7:39 My Favourite Little Enemy Soundbyte.
In The Remaster, They Made Them Look Freaking Adorable, Even When Trying To Cut You Down.
10:39 you can hear someone saying "yes" at the end of his dialog lol. guess teh mic picked up more than needed when recording the voice line.
YES!!

Because you can't complete everything the first time.
@@JohnnyDFox its the truth
God i hate this level 🤐
This isn't a walktrought! You are not completing it to 100%, you forgot some diamonds and a orb.......

@@JohnnyDFox yeah i know. It should show a part 1 and a part 2 for that matter so the people can understad how to complete it afterwards.
@@donflex4659 Is it now not a walkthrough because I didn't name the separate videos part 1 and 2?
