I suspect some of this might have included modifications to the attraction to make sure nobody else got hurt. I believe eventually they redid the walls so they'd give away if anyone got in their path. Warning lights were installed too.

I've heard so many things in regards to Debbie's death on what happened that night. For a while it was almost thought to be a creepy pasta by some as there as not much information on the incident. Either way, its nice that is was covered as it is the only "true" death on disney property. That's not to say there aren't others, but Debbie's death was one of a actual cast member.
If you believe it or not, there is speculation that in the innovation/launch bay building you can sometimes hear the haunting sounds of Debbie. Again, that's up to you and your judgement.

I don't want to offend you but I want you to understand that contributing blatantly untrue rumours about a teenager who died decades ago is unnecessary and unwanted.
I'm not some "snowflake" getting offended. Or somebody trying to start shit. I just think that what you're saying adds nothing and is only to attract attention.

The videos are really interesting and well made, way to go! Second, I'd love to see an episode on the Discovery Boat Tour from Animal Kingdom! I think it is really cool how parts of the ride were reused, including the docks!

When I saw this title, I was wondering how you would handle Debbie's story, and I'm very pleased that the answer is, 'with class.' Not only in how you talk about it, but in how you fit it into the video, allowing people to skip and then not gooping it up with sad/scary music like it's a horror movie instead of the facts on how a real person met an extremely premature end.

It’s a common bit of wisdom about Disney and the Theme Parks. While you might find an attorney with great clout and a staff that won’t leave a case alone. It’s very hard if not impossible to successfully sue and win against Disney. A great amount of law suits against Disney are settled out of court with no publicized settlement. It has been said that with a cash settlement Disney will offer lifetime access to all their parks and resorts to the survivors.

@@rogerdeanmassie3314I think I read Disney basically doing the same thing with the family of Rebecca Coriam, a cast member who disappeared on one of the Disney cruise ships.
Seriously though, who would ever want to do anything Disney-related, free or not, knowing a loved one died within the company

“Although the Stones did not blame Disneyland for the accident, they did file suit against the park, which was quietly
settled a few months later. "It was a small settlement, and it certainly wasn't for money; it was to make sure changes and improvements were made on that particular ride and any others that needed it if there was any kind of danger present." Disneyland immediately made changes to "America Sings" to avoid a repeat of the tragedy. "For that attraction,"
says Bill, "there was a safety light added that would alert someone if they were getting too close to the
danger area, and the solid walls were replaced with break-away ones."
Despite the lawsuit, the Stone family recalls the Disney organization as very kind and compassionate. "I know we got phone calls and letters from various administrators there," says Bill, "even after the lawsuit went in. They were very nice." Marilyn said a Disney employee once paid a visit to her house. "I don't now what her capacity was, I'm not sure what her job was - and was so very nice to us and told us of all the friends that Debbie had," Marilyn says. "Even in later years - maybe even 10 years ago - somebody who worked at Disneyland came at Christmastime and brought flowers. People have just been so nice; they've remembered us."
Evidently, so has Disney. "Our sympathies are with Deborah's family," said Bob Tucker, spokesman for the Disneyland Resort. "The safety of our guests and employees remains our top priority."
Tragic but that sentence is misleading, more complicated than “losing in court”

Wow this is crazy, but my wrestling coach and western civ teacher in high school was a cast member at disneyland during this time. I can remember during a free day him telling stories about working there. Mostly mundane stuff like meeting his wife there and partying after hours, but he also told us about the gruesome America Sings death, even drawing a diagram on the dry erase board showing how she got caught. I remember him saying he wasn't friends with Debbie but knew of her, and quit the park shortly after because of the way they handled her death. Man, I completely forgot about that until stumbling on this video. Small world I guess.

Nothing should be a sensitive subject. People should be able to state opinions no matter how many people are “offended” by the said opinion. The person who died was a stupid person and her death was the consequence for her actions. If you jump in water you will sink.

Yes people die every day but it doesn't mean it doesn't affect those who knew the person who died. The topic of death itself isn't a sensitive one. But the death of a PERSON IS. Especially if the death was a gruesome one like hers. And mocking her and her death is extremely disrespectful. You have no 100% proof of what actions caused her death, so don't make assumptions about what happened.

While it's unknown exactly how old that song is, consindering it was from the Old West, it must been written sometime in in 19:th century, at least over four and a half decades (if not more, which is most likely) as Song of the South was released in 1946. The oldest known recording of "Who Shot a Hole in my Sombrero" was made by Rex Allen two years later so in that sense beinga spiritual successor would be true. Going by actual timeline of history, since this is an old folk song from the 19:th century, I'd rather say the opposite (but hey, a lot of stuff that is racist now was mundane and okay back then before we thought of equal treatment no matter what "race" we are).

Something fun about the G2 Droids in Star Tours is that, in both versions of Star Tours (the original and The Adventures Continue) there's one that sings a variation of "I've Been Working on the Railroad," a song that the geese used to sing in America Sings.

i think the worst part about how disney handled Debbie's death is the fact that the attraction was only closed for 2 days for "cleanup". something about that is just really gross to me.

I know everyone's saying that you informed us about Debbie's death differently than others, but let me just say that you informed us in a respectful manner. Some people think is cool to play the "twilight zone" music and have bloody font when talking about her death so that it fits the "haunted" theme, and some people have the, "The animatronics are haunted and evil now 'cause a young woman died in there!" theory. But you didn't, and I appreciate the fact that you were respectful and mature about it 😊

The Press wasn't universally offended by the Mexican accent per se. There were a couple of reviews from journalists that felt it didn't align with the overall theme of the show. Plus, the sound quality was rather poor and the vocal sound was somewhat unintelligible.

I’m confused cause how were the walls positioned to crush a person

    • @CineSoar
      @CineSoar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

If you watch the middle of the screen, at 8:08, you can see the wall that separates the scenes moving toward the wall that separates the audience sections. When the walls line up, there was no space between them (after the accident, they made this part of the wall break-away, so it wouldn't crush a person). It would be sort of like sticking your hand in a revolving door, at the point where it brushes against the door frame.

99% of deaths like these are not the persons fault but the fault of whoever built the thing
Guy arrives to work in a building under construction drunk and enters a area of risk (that was properly secured) and dies, that's his fault

In junior high, Debbie's gruesome fate was the talk of the blacktop. I thought a friend was pulling my leg, but no; heard it from several sources, then the evening news. At the time, I was obsessed with Disneyland, growing up just ten miles from there, and this tragedy traumatized me. It's all I could think about. I still love Disney, but that day changed something. I sure never went in that building again, so I'm glad I got to see America Sings beforehand.

The background song that was playing while explaining Debbie’s death was extremely Erie when it comes to a story like this…. Whatever that music is named fits and terrifies you seeing the walls that killed her move and how close together they were there is no way in surviving that. And the “closed for 2 days for cleaning” sent chills down my spine, absolutely horrific.
