Thanks. That was more info in your one video than I've seen in dozens of others. I'm starting the process of building curbs for my new TPO roof that I installed last year. Question: what was the reason to staple straps of roofing material to the sides then heat weld flashing rather than just adhere the membrane directly to the wood? Also, are you going to make a video detailing your installing the Counter Flashing??? Your fans want more!!! 😁

Thank you! The reason for stapling straps to the sides of the curb then heat welding was not only to give it a more uniform look but most importantly, to reduce the risk of it possibly coming apart as if it were just adhered to the sides if that makes any sense. Once these things are heat welded together and properly, they're not coming apart.
For the counter flashing, I currently do not have any videos at all from when I did those. However, they're quite simple. The counter flashing is nothing more than strips of the flashing detail, heat welded to the rim of the curb. Just measure the curb with about 1/2" to an inch extra on both ends and the same amount extending over the sides. Get all sides cut and done, then heat weld all 4 corners together. Once that's done, lay it down onto the rim of the curb and make sure it's nice and square. If everything looks good and your corner welds are good, then you can just heat weld to the rim of the curb. After that, I'd take some caulking and run a bead to the underside of the counter flashing where it meets the curb itself (after using primer, of course). This will ensure that it has a good seal. Heat welding generally will be good enough, but the caulking there gives me peace of mind. That's the best I can describe it. I will be making new curbs and boots for when I redo the roof next year to make it "cambered," but that won't be for a while yet. Hope this helps, and good luck!

@@72east I also use GAF TPO for my roofing material. Don't suppose you have any extra Detail Membrane you'd be interested in selling? Here in Minnesota I can only find 24"x50' rolls for over $500. I'm sure I won't need more than 6"x20' as I only have 3 vents and the AC Unit to flash.

Over $500...ouch! I even looked online where I bought mine and that too has gone up to the same price! I only paid a little over $350 for mine. I do have some left out of that roll but is about 24"x6'. I used a lot out of that 24"x50' roll. I'll get the exact measurement out of what I have if that'll work for you.
