    Loved Caroline's tour of the gardens! I learned some brand new names for plants, all very useful! 😉 What an incredibly kind and generous gift the house and gardns were for LLanelli! It's ttue that LLanelli does seem to have a bit of everything. What a lovely place to visit or live! Even bricks to be found. So something for everyone!! I loved it. And the ice-cream looked so delish especially the turkish delight. It's all been brilliant. Thank you!

      That's great, I knew Caroline was good at French, but I was surprised by her knowledge of Latin 😄 We had considered living in the area, but prices are rising since the regeneration has started, but it's still a possible retirement destination, or if our TH-cam channel goes viral, an ideal location for a couple of aging "Digital Nomads" 😄😂 The Turkish Delight ice cream was delicious! 🍦 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼🐼

    Great to see someone portray the depth of its history and look at the lovely architecture of its past. Sadly at street level it’s mainly pound shops, pawn brokers, charity shops or whitewashed windows with to let signs.
    Over the past 40yrs I’ve watched Llanelli decline from being a thriving town, to one that’s just trying to survive.
    Of it wasn’t for the strong community spirit that’s still alive and strong, it wouldn’t have much going for it apart from the indoor market.

    • @LetsgowithTheJohnsons
      @LetsgowithTheJohnsons  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the encouraging comment Bernie. We live in the Welsh Valleys and I worked in the mines until they closed, so we've seen the devastation that so much of Wales has gone through and felt it's impact. But we love to go out and share the beauty of our land and the history that made us the nation that we are. And we echo your sentiment, that it's the "Strong community spirit" that will see the dragon rise again stronger than ever. Thanks for watching. 🤠😎🐼

    What a wonderful town Llanelli , the history was amazing. The architecture stunning and still stands today! The couple who gave their beautiful home to the town so they could enjoy the gardens was awesome. I don’t think even back then people would give a mansion away to anyone! What a lovely place to enjoy. Phil you always outdo yourself with the stunning places you take us! Caroline’s narration of the beautiful plants 🪴 was fantastic and funny 😄 the whole video was perfectly made. You both always do a great travel video! Have a lovely Saturday and Sunday ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜

      Well said Susan, it is a wonderful town, and we loved filming down there. Having a history that is full of tales of exploitation and hardship, it was lovely to tell the tale of a couple who marked their 1st wedding anniversary by giving their mansion and grounds to the people of the town. I do love the history, but Caroline's Latin stole the show this time 😄😂 Thank you so much for your very encouraging comment and as always thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼🐼

    I’ve been in the old Buckley house before, and even had a pint of Buckley’s Best when I turned 18 on a visit to Wales. Think I have a beer mat somewhere. I had a Buckley’s mat and an old Brenin beermat the barkeeper gave me. Never had a Brenin or even know if it was around when I was drinking age

    • @LetsgowithTheJohnsons
      @LetsgowithTheJohnsons  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A nostalgic video with memories of celebrations past, that's great to hear... Wales has had it's fair share of excellent breweries, with Brains of Cardiff being the most famous, but the Crown Brewery at Pontyclun produced Brenin Bitter, and that was judged to be the best brewery-conditioned beer In 1983, so they did rather well too. And of course as well as Buckley's there was another brewer local to Llanelli, Felinfoel who were the first brewers in the UK to introduce beer in a can! So glad we stirred a few memories, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼🐼

    This just popped up on my home page and what a delight it was to watch. You've told me things about my town that I had no idea about! I actually live just across the road from Parc Howard and we spend loads of time there; at one point last year, me and the kids were part of the volunteer gardeners for the park. My favourite ice cream from St Elli's Bay is the peach one, absolutely delicious. This was such a brilliant video. The video is well done, but it doesn't show the place properly. It shows the 'best bits', not the lack-lustre shop fronts that need renovating. Also, don't travel down station road in the dark evenings, you'll be the recipient of a hammer attack most likely, from one of the smack heads the council has housed there. By hammer attack, I actually mean a real hammer will be used.
      There's also a load of smack heads walking about the town centre on most days, as the place is (sadly) a pit. There are good parts to the town (away from the centre) but if your investing only to make money, think carefully and do your research well.
