Love the cruising footage! Editing suggestion, keep voice and music levels as near the same as possible. Oft times the voice is inaudible at a comfortable sound level for the music.
Thanks for that fact - did seem like a big one! Also caused us slight grief as it was a low pound going into it with lots of silt as we entered the lock so we were scraping a bit.
Thanks so much for this video, which I happened upon while scouting a two day walk along the Peak Forest (starting near New Mills) and Huddersfield Narrow canals (finishing at Diggle) for next May. Your video was so helpful, giving a sense of the walk along the Peak Forest. It looks beautiful! One question if you have time: is the area around Portland Basin where the Ashton, Peak Forest, and Hudderfield canals meet okay or is it rather dodgy? I don't mind a bit of graffiti here & there but I'd rather not walk in an overly urban environment for too long. Thanks.
So glad you enjoyed it! That would make a beautiful walk - good towpath conditions too! From what we saw, Portland basin was fine - not too urban at all. Popular with people for mooring so that’s a bit of a tick of approval too!
Thanks 😁 I believe you can stay for 6 months as a tourist without a visa. We’re rather fortunate to have dual citizenship so, as UK citizens, we can stay as long as we like.
We are moored at Furness vale and spend the odd night as a break at bugsworth. a lovely canal and area
We just had a few nights at Furness Vale ourselves - lovely spot!
Wish I could give more than one thumbs up 👍 👍 👍 really enjoying taking this journey with you (without having to take a long haul flight 😂😂😂)
Glad you’re enjoying it! Don’t remind me about the long haul flight needed at the end 😳

Thanks for the tip!
You have just been through the deepest narrow lock on the system - that was lock no. 10 on the Ashton Flight

Like your vids. May I ask as a fellow aussie what type of visa you are on and how long can you stay in the UK?
