Hi, im using the 1.7 Windows version of OpenToonz, and whenever i try to copy and paste an image, it just doesn't want to paste onto OpenToonz. I can do it anywhere else but on OpenToonz.
V1.7 hasn't been updated for over a year and this is a fairly new feature. If you try the nightly build (from the same Download page), you'll probably be able to do this.
@DarrenTAnims Hey, i tried to install the nightly build for Windows, but it won't open at all. It keeps on saying that the file is unsafe and that the application was unable to start correctly.
When I import a jpg file it comes in huge compared to the circle on the screen. The two safety red squares are do not encompass the entire image. Can someone please help? I just want to trace a drawing to start. (I can not get copy and paste to work. So I just dragged it in. But no selection marks.)
When the image is not showing at the size you expect, it's always down to the dpi if the image. The easiest way to get around it is to use the Animate tool to resize the image once imported.
This isn't working for me. I know I have the image in my clipboard, because I can paste it into a document. I can drag and drop an image from my browser into OpenToonz, but Ctrl-V does nothing. Paste in my Edit Menu does nothing. And yes, I'm running v1.6. Any suggestions? Thanks much.
@@andabien3 That's why you've not got this new feature. V1.6 is over a year old. The nightly build has this feature in it. Hi! I rendered an animation I made, but some frames seem not to appear properly, although the render settings are correctly selected. How can I solve this problem?
It depends what "Seem to not appear correctly". What's incorrect about them? How are they wrong? If it's easier, you can share screenshots, videos or your project with my on my Discord (Link in the description)
Thanks for all your tutorials ! I have a background image, character, eyes, mouth and arms on different columns...Now I have added a bottle of water, and when I move it and adjust it to the characters arms, it just disappears? Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Unfortunately this could mean many different things. It could be because you're zooming in. It could be artwork that you're importing. It could be a rendering question. Or lots more. The best thing to do is to share an image of your screen on my Discord and describe what you've done and why you think it should look different and I'm sure we'll be able to sort it out.
I've just finished my whole artwork and I want to animate some parts, it's high quality and when I paste it into the OpenToonz it gets pixealated and it annoys me so much. (Even tho i put the same resolution as my artwork) How can I fix this? Or how can i paste my image into a vector layer?
it could be worth checking out the DPI of your images and checking if you're using the same DPI in OpenToonz. There's also an option in the Preferences, Interface section, called "Pixels only". That keeps the same DPI when you import images. This usually results in the image showing up at a different size to your original. This is why it's best to create your levels in OpenToonz first, then draw on them either in OpenToonz or your favourite image program. The final thing to mention is that having your zoom in OpenToonz at anything but 100% can make your images look pixelated while editing, but it's the final render that's important, so render your animation out and see how it looks then.
Hey Darren! I was trying this out with importing a transparent image (I had drawn the frames in a different program and then imported them into opentoonz using this feature) But it seems as if Opentoonz has given my transparent image a background regardless; so when I exported it the frames they had a white background/small actual transparent marks to when I had erased a few mistakes in the actual program. Hi Kevin, Thank you. I appreciate that. Yes, you can import vector artwork. However, not all features of all vector will be imported. I've seen comments from some users where they've imported prefectly every time. And others have had difficulty; losing lines, fills and other features. So if you want to import vectors, my advice is to try it out and see what works for you. My second advice on this, I give to everyone, is to ask yourself, do you really need vectors? Unless you want to resize them in OpenToonz, it might be better to draw them in your preferred vector program, not then render them out to png and import that. I know plenty of users, including me, have difficulty working with vectors in OpenToonz. The fills can be difficult to work with. You can't paste a raster image directly to a Toonz Raster level, but you can paste it into the program as a single drawing, raster level. Or you can just drag it into an open scene and choose Import. But once imported, if it's just the outline, you can use the cleanup feature to create a Toonz Raster level. It's not something I'd recommend using though. The question is, why do you want it as a Toonz Raster level? And can't you just draw it on a Toonz Raster level? Or you could use your imported drawing as a template, to draw over it.
