Dave Marshall Np man, glad to help. I've gauged this bike against many other similar machines and yes, some others may have more character or what not but this 350F is still the best all around motorcycle that I've ever ridden. You can "super tune" it but forget about any big performance gains if that's what you're after although there are a few places to get power. Be sure it has the stock air intake set up...(all of it) ,stock jets and timing spot on. I did a 520 chain conversion and knocked 2 teeth off the rear cog which is a very welcome mod as long as you weigh under 200lbs. If you're handy, get the cylinder head mildly ported / blue-printed because the exhaust ports are apparently intentionally clogged up with severe casting garbage. This took the bike to a new level.
Good luck and keep us posted!

I love the way Japanese can miniaturize their trademark 750 4 , the standard starting point for ALL 4 cylinder motorcycles . Yet not to sit on their laurels and make an awesome 350 cc clone of that . All that technology is bursting out on this beautiful Bike !

Love this video. One of my first bikes. I bought a 74 in 79 and rode the heck out it. Always regretted selling in it 83 to buy a Honda CB650 Nighthawk, which I still own. I just found another one in Indiana with 2700 miles on it. Can't live without this bike. What a classic. These were only made from 72-74. Thanks for the great Vid

Boy, does watching this take me back. I had a '72 350 Four and it ran like a top, and idled as quiet as a Cadillac. Selling it in '76 has to rank as one of the dumbest things that I ever did.

    • @mtntime1
      @mtntime1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I can top that for regret. In the mid 70's I had a '65 Chevy Impala SS Convertible, buckets, console, power windows.
I drove it in Minnesota winters so it rusted out, banged it up in a couple of places, finally hauled it to the junkyard.
Did I mention that it was an SS, and a convertible? If I'd took good care of it, it would be worth $50K today, easily.
      Now that's regret!

The wide high riser bards on these 70s bikes are so much more fun for street riding, it really helps with feeling in control of the bike and it make the bike feel faster than it is which is good for the road because the point is to enjoy it and not get a speeding ticket or lose your license.

I had a new Honda cb160 twin here in England..1967..it had a hard life..driving to work, courting, two up riding..i thrashed it hard.!!four noisy silencers,it sounded like a works bike..so noisy..It never once missed a beat in 18.000 thousand miles over 2 years..just one rear wheel bearing,a battery and a faulty spark plug..Honda engineering is the best..just keep the oil changed, the chain oiled and the bike cleaned regularly..i used to ride like this guy everywhere..fast and noisy..just love it brings back memories..I now do not ride on the road after 50 years riding..but i do own the best 350/4 here in England..its stunning.. ,just love Honda bikes and the way they ride and sound...Greg the Honda man..England..

Absolutely. these little fours are not torquers, they love to rev. That's where they make their power (and that sweet noise!) Sounds SO good!
I once beat a 903 cc Harley Sportster with my 550-four. He couldn't believe it. He said "but I have way more torque". I asked him where he shifted,
and he said about 4,500 - 5,000. About right for a Sportster. I told him I shifted 9,000 - 10,000, twice as high. That's the secret. Overhead cam, short stroke.
multiple carburetors. Rev those suckers! They love it, they're built for it, as this video graphically shows!

Sweet! My brother and I purchased a 1972 CB350 while in high school (1986) with 4 into 2 pipes - what a sweet sound! It had a metallic olive green paint scheme with white and orange pin striping. This was replaced with all gloss black paint on side covers and tank; engine painted black with cylinder fins filed on the end to give an 80's look to the bike (much better than the gross green and orange combo). I can't agree more. I had a 1st hand look at every engine internal last year and the parts like the connecting rods are very robust...I can't ever see the shot glass size pistons ever being able to damage them!
The handling of this bike with good rubber mounted is BETTER than my Yamaha RZ350. ..yes!
      It's definitely a keeper.
      Cheers

I'm going to start riding in a few months and I got a 1974 cb 350 F I'm taking care of.
    I just can't wait. 😊
    Thanks for the ride.

You're going to love it for a vast multitude of reasons with not one being outstanding acceleration or top speed abilities. It certainly has plenty to get you moving down the road with near tonne top speed potential. Let me know if you have any maintenance or tuning concerns, there are certainly ways to squeeze out extra performance and reliability. 🏁

@@ColdSmokes Thanks. For know she's almost in mint stock condition. I'll probably take the time to ride it like that before considering any upgrade. If I do I'll keep in touch.

I've been looking into getting a 1970s bike, just getting into CBs and I had no idea they sounded so cool.

Attaboy - keep her in her happy place! Got to keep the revs up in the turns - you'll never get a good drive out with your revs down- go in in the same gear you want to use to come out of the turn - let her sing - she likes it!!

sweet sweet video! the pipes sound really pretty! just a little rough around the edges, exactly how it should sound!
I watched this video about 50 times and finally bought one myself. mine is all stock exept for the ignition. goes almost a 100 mph which I think is really a big number for this little bike.
maybe I will post a vid someday!
    Thanks for this video.
It made me a happy owner of a beautiful machine :)

Thank you! yea, that stumble when re-applying throttle after decel is apparently incurable. The original write ups on this bike complained of this even on brand new machines.
This one goes just over 100 as well which us quite rare so cheers to you! Also, check and rebond the flat seal just ahead of the front sprocket...mine popped out and dumped all the oil and destroyed the entire engine

I love these small 4s. They are the complete opposite of the larger bikes. The second you hit 6000 is when you feel the power kick in and it doesn't stop until the very end.

    • @mtntime1
      @mtntime1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sure. You're "on the cam" then! What they lack in low end torque, they more than make up for in high revving power!

I recently installed a 4 into 1 stainless steel exhaust system. It revealed some much-needed new found torque between 6 and 8000rpm.
Runs really sweet and sounds completely different than this video.

I had one in the early to mid 1970s.Very dependable and fun. But one day while running out each gear to the max I suddenly felt that the bike had become simply too lame for me. I sold it and bought a Yamaha 650XS. The friend I sold the Honda 350 to wiped out about a week after buying it from me about 4 blocks from Sibley Hospital in D.C.. just saying
