We ran this trail Aug 25 and agreed we’d be back. It’s such a pretty drive. Thanks for the great video.

Nice video. Everytime I run halfmoon, it never goes to plan lol. But also, don't forget to read the Trails Offroad waypoint descriptions at intersections. Some are better than others, but that intersection for the mill mentions the second trail you headed up.

It was great of you to have your new friends join you without knowing their level of experience. The trail looked like it had some fun obstacles. Great content as usual.

You are putting out excellent high quality videos. That took so time to put together
    Keep up the great work.

Great video. We literally just did that trail yesterday! Camped just past the “deep” water crossing. Fabulous trail. Not sure Emerald Lake is actually at 20000 feet though

oops, did I make a typo?

Wish we had seen u on the trail too. We skipped that difficult section to the top.

    Emerald Lake at 19,996 ft?
The first section of dirt road has a lot of dispersed camping and farther down the road there are 2 National Forest campgrounds. All of that camping can be very busy though.
I remember that water crossing not being straight across, you have to zig zag a little bit to find the correct exit point.
Near the mill there is a gate, visible at one point in your video. We had to stop there and walk to the mill across private property.

Not sure how I typoed the altitude

@@TrailTraveler Gaia maps shows it right about 10,000' so maybe you intended 9,996' and got an extra 1 in front of it.

love this drive! was just there 3 weeks ago. camped on Halfmoon Road for the week. think the elevation listed for Emerald Lake is a bit off . Never got to drive TO the mill as they closed off driving right to it several years back. I know for me ine in 2020-2024 it hasn't been open for vehicles right to it. Still you can walk a hundred yards or so or take the left at the gates and see it on your right from above! Thankfully this year I was on 37's vs 35's and so the area @ 18:16 was a bit easier ..... If you havent done Hagerman pass recently it's washed out a lot of new ruts/channels and is for sure a bit tuffer in 3 or 4 places than it has been the past 4 years!

Yeah, somehow we missed that typo

Did this trail September of 2023, but the mill was marked off as private property so we were not able to see it close up. Trail was awsome and easy work for my 2008 Rubicon.

The property the mill is on is owned by Colorado Outward Bound. You can no longer drive to the mill, but they allow you to hike to it.

It's cool to see trees at Emerald Lake being that it's at 20,000 feet! Amazing! 😜
Do you have GPS on that secondary road you took? Or maybe a write up on TrailsOffroad?

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  หลายเดือนก่อน

If you look at Halfmoon Creek on Trails Offroad, you will see the road going off from where the trail ends. I have suggested they go map it.
