Similarly Aadhar number is enforced everywhere under the guise of being 'voluntary'.
Any one can get aadhar for 8000rs . It lost its authenticity.
I know, right? You literally don't need PAN. You can use AADHAAR for its job, but you can't have a PAN without it unless bizarrely, you live in 5 select territories.

Thank you Arushi, yes it is not compulsory and I have linked a RTI reply on my Twitter thread that states it. I believe visible signage also needs to be added at airports. Took your feedback on the channel name change, I am getting some mixed reactions to it!

@Apar, you present very useful and pertinent information to the common people of India. If you provide this in Hindi, I personally believe that this info will reach wider and deeper.
Why don't you ever think about south indians? Also most people in India who board flights regularly definitely speak english so that's not an issue in my view.

Exactly, it’s not mandatory but is being coercively enforced.
They are almost making it mandatory. The moment I approached airport in Bangalore one person pointed me for DigiYatra enrolment. It is being 'enforced' with trickery.
Had the same experience in Kochi
Kolkata airport has five gates for passengers using Digiyatra and only one for those who don't, resulting in 20-30 minute queues at the latter. If this is not coercion, what is?
as for now , earlier aadhar was not compulsory now it's mandatory .
