My friends didn't like the singer's voice. But I love his voice. It's very unique and he sounds like he's really suffering. I love this album, but the rest of Overkill albums suck. I think that's their real downfall.
And every other album, after Taking Over at least. As a bass player, i've always been a big fan of DD's tone. I think it was a little bit too loud on WFO though, almost makes it unlistenable.
+Q deMayo The Years of Decay is amazing, WFO was pretty damn good. Production wise, i don't like WFO that much. The Years of Decay is a great sounding record, and Horrorscope sounds even better in my opinion. WFO was just too much. I love how audible DD is in 1988-present Overkill records, but he completely drowned out the guitars on WFO.
I love that point of the song where the band stops and DD plays four notes...they are only four notes, but they are instantly recognizable as DD's heavy tone. To me, those four notes are signature Overkill. It amazes me how his playing can be so instantly identified as his with so few notes...this isn't the only example of this either, he pulls it off on a lot of songs.
Overkill is a thrash band but occasionally they do songs like this that remind me of DOOM metal. Slow,Heavy, bluesy blow your head off DOOM. Horrorscope and Skullcrusher also remind me of DOOM. OVERKILL is F'n amazing!
Overkill is one of the masters of American Thrash Metal of all time and this song proves it as just a gleam of their entire repertory for they have so many fucking good albums, and in each one you'll find such devastating songs "Wrecking Crew", "Shred", "Necroshine"...on the east side I think Overkill can engage advantage on Anthrax...yeah dude
Something tells me Overkill always had good music and some good videos!! Not that i think MTV should be given props, but what the Fuck happened to Headbangers Ball?? Same place where all Metal Musicians rest, the Spiritual Void!!
Bobby... thanks for the setlist the other night in Atlanta, that really was awesome of you. Even though the kid beside me ended up with it....great show by all.
@1971SuperLead LOL!! I used to visit the CD Warehouse for all their used CD's....Once I bought a copy of Type-O Negative's "Bloody Kisses" for $6... I looked inside, and it is autographed by all 4 members. Of course I told the guy this AFTER I bought it. LOL
I think they should do another Big 4 type of festival but with OverKill,Exodus,Testament,Death Angel.Because those bands need to be recognized just as much as Metallica,Slayer,Megadeth,Anthrax.
It's all very simple realy . You get a bunch of guys in leather jackets , strobe lights , a spider and some shots as if is u were underneath a city. Despite the fact the song FKN rocks the clip captures its doom at every second of the song . Luv it to death. Cred goes out to the sonic and visual masters.
I hear people complain about Overkill’s 90’s period a lot, but in my personal opinion, i can’t think of another Thrash band that waded the 90’s better than Overkill while still releasing quality material. Megadeth comes close, but then Risk happened (and to a lesser extent Cryptic Writings, but that was still a good album)
I'm 48 now..yik.....but in the 80s pop music ruled it was money over quality...... which is is why we have what we have today.......yik......=yeah I know....✌️
@@iamgribs It definitely doesn't sound like Pantera! Rather with Down, the other band Phil Anselmo was in. However, CoC guitarist and vocalist, Pepper Keenan, is the lead guitarist of Down, so there is definitely interconnection between the two bands. BUT all these bands were heavily influenced by Black Sabbath at a great degree. I don't mean that Pantera wasn't influenced by Black Sabbath, but the sound and rhythm of Dimebag's guitar is not comparable with this, Pantera's play was unique!
I ALWAYS WONDERED WHY OVERKILL DIDN'T GET A BETTER RECOGNITION...THESE GUYS RULE METAL THE WAY IT SHALL BE!!!!
YES, IT MIGHT BE.
Since '85 though
My friends didn't like the singer's voice. But I love his voice. It's very unique and he sounds like he's really suffering. I love this album, but the rest of Overkill albums suck. I think that's their real downfall.
Steven Santmyre since '80 actually
Largely, being on the east coast was a big reason.
One of the most underrated albums from one of the most underrated bands. Classic piece of brilliant music!
I remember when this came out. They switched from thrash to groove. A lot of fans weren't happy. I loved this record.
I think everyone was expecting a follow up from Horrorscope on terms of speed etc. God forbid they tried something different.
I saw it as more of a doom sound, I love this album too.
I think is Thrash/Groove sound in a nice mix
yes this was a great one
😢
This album is so underrated! I love this slow, groovy sound. OVERKILL!!!
I've seen overkill a total of 36 times very under rated band awesome music and lyrics. I will be 57 and still rock out
This is one of my favorite songs off of one of my favorite albums.
No idea why this album got so much criticism.
this album to me kinda has a stoner rock feel to it. I love this album
The sound of DD Verni's bass is unbelievably thick and heavy on this entire album, especially on this song\m/ \m/
And every other album, after Taking Over at least. As a bass player, i've always been a big fan of DD's tone. I think it was a little bit too loud on WFO though, almost makes it unlistenable.
It's funny, cause WFO is my second favorite album;TYOD is my favorite.
+Q deMayo The Years of Decay is amazing, WFO was pretty damn good. Production wise, i don't like WFO that much. @@rollforeverderbs Bass sound on WFO was not good...it was too high and trebly. I would love to hear that album with the bass sound here.
Killer Sabbathy heavy groove song. I love when Bobby Blitz sings in this style.
Check out his side project the Cursed
I love Overkill's more Doomy stuff, like Horrorscope, Skullkrusher, Drunken Wisdom, and this song.
Drunken wisdom is one of the best
Man, gotta give it to these guys. Unlike some of their musical peers, they’ve always kept it METAL and constantly releasing new material 🤘🏼😝🤘🏼
Definitely shades of Sabbath's - Into The Void and totally fucking awesome.
And Children of the grave
I've seen them 114 times have every album every ticket stub every shirt I could get my hands on. I'm 57 and still head bang
My buddies Tim Mallare killin the drums, and Robbie Canavino rockin the guitar!! You couldn't meet two nicer guys!!
Rediscovering how freaking awesome Overkill is..Every song kicks ass..
A band that deserves more respect and sales in music
#legendsofmetal
Overkill is a thrash band but occasionally they do songs like this that remind me of DOOM metal. Slow,Heavy, bluesy blow your head off DOOM. Horrorscope and Skullcrusher also remind me of DOOM. OVERKILL is F'n amazing!
probably one of the best intros ever
Love this album so much.
I absolutely love this song Overkill is one of the best metal bands out there
Been listening to this band since their first album
Never heard this song before now ? GOD DAMN it's GREAT !!!!
Great song from this album - All time favourite Thrash band.................. Trouble Elemental sound on this song Very cool
Rolando Davila for me the best album is wfo.. There's only killer hymns.
I'd definitely want Overkill to be in The Big 4 instead of Anthrax
Total sabbath and COC influenced and I love it!!!
This is the wonderment that occurs when Overkill slows down a bit...and yes the Sabbath influence is all over this album, but in an awesome way :)
Just saw them about 2 weeks ago, they still sound as good as they did in this video!
This is Overkill, they always sound good!
I hear black is a really good album
this is a great song too imo
Ahhhhh! Overkill's severely underrated "Doom" album. fking LOVE IT!
The thing I have always LOVED about OVERKILL is that they never had musical structure. they just made it work
that guitar and bass mix is fucking THICC
Corrosion of Conformity had influences from Overkill
I was just about to say that. Lol! Very "Sone-Breaker'ish" Love both bands actually.
Me too man, 2 awesome bands, stay metal bro
bad ass album!!!
I have about 8 copies of this CD. I frikkin love it! I had to make sure I had enough copies to last my entire life! lol
Some epic guitar stances on display here
they were one of my favs back in the day. back when metal was real unlike todays crap.
This is so fucking sick. OVER KILL RULES!
Epic Overkill era '85-'95 ❤ everything they done these years
🤘wow Migthy Overkill album🤘1 of my favorites #1 top🤘Overkill Rules🤘
Overkill "RULE"!!!! ROCK ON!!!!
Something tells me Overkill always had good music and some good videos!! Not that i think MTV should be given props, but what the Fuck happened to Headbangers Ball?? Same place where all Metal Musicians rest, the Spiritual Void!!
No shit. Headbangers Ball rocked. Best place to find new and kick ass metal. Fucking hell, I miss that show a helluva lot.
They really need to bring it back
Closest it gets is "Metal Mania" on late night cable TV...I think it's one of VH1's channels. But all they play are old videos, no new shit.
The 90's are over :(
Such a awesome song..
OverKill Rules!!!!
Should've been the big 6 in Thrash. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, and my Favorite Bands, Overkill
Overkill owning Pantera at being Pantera, and Ozzy at being Ozzy. The kings of East coast thrash and metal in general!
Right now, I imagine Ozzy singing this song
Fucking awesome...
OverKill rules!!!! \M/
One of my all time bands. Period...
Overkill always did doom metal type songs really well.
Overkill + 90's sound = EPIC
Great intro, this song is freaking classic
Best act in metal
the louder you go , the better this gets !!!!
Bobby... thanks for the setlist the other night in Atlanta, that really was awesome of you. Even though the kid beside me ended up with it....great show by all.
A banda de thrash metal mais fiel ao gênero
@1971SuperLead LOL!! I used to visit the CD Warehouse for all their used CD's....Once I bought a copy of Type-O Negative's "Bloody Kisses" for $6... I looked inside, and it is autographed by all 4 members. Of course I told the guy this AFTER I bought it. LOL
The Riff Remember Black Sabbath
0:31
Vocals sounds like Black Sabbath too
I wonder if Corrosion of Conformity listed to this song before putting out the rest of their albums..
"I HEAR BLACK" - likely The Greatest Doom Thrash Metal Album EVER.
I bought I Hear Black in London 1993. Very good album.
This song is the proof that you don't need to have fast tempos to be fucking heavy !!
I love this album!
DD's the man. It's cool actually hearing bass in my music.
the riff at 2:41
Fuckin badass.
really cool riff
Bobby n D.D. Are A One Of A Kind👍
Wow the music, the energy, the costumes, the attitude, really cool
I think they should do another Big 4 type of festival but with OverKill,Exodus,Testament,Death Angel.Because those bands need to be recognized just as much as Metallica,Slayer,Megadeth,Anthrax.
always loved this band
Fuck, just discovered these guys. I think I've just found my new favourite thrash metal band \m/
Świetny utwór z doskonałej płyty.
Taped them many times over the years 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
YYYYYYYYYEEEESSSSSSSSSSS.
This is one of their best songs and best albums!
Just can't get enough of this song...
Cant wait for the new Album this year..
OverKill \M/
This is suppose to be one of their not so good albums,YEAH RIGHT!!!
This album rocks!!! \m/
I never knew they had a video for this.
I hear people complain about Overkill’s 90’s period a lot, but in my personal opinion, i can’t think of another Thrash band that waded the 90’s better than Overkill while still releasing quality material. Spot on
Sodom's 90s discography is awesome. They kept releasing thrash stuff during that period. Tapping The Vein is one of the best thrash albums.
@@jeppyjep i agree with that.
Can't wait to see them next month.. OVER fucking KILL
That sound of bass is a blast.
Classic track...thanks for posting.
Pantera definitely listened to this song hundreds of times...
I love overkill
Wow! Bobby blitz kick ass!
Fuck yeah! This shit rocks!!!!
I'm 48 now..yik.....but in the 80s pop music ruled it was money over quality...... which is is why we have what we have today.......yik......=yeah I know....✌️
I love his voice in this are there any other overkill songs where his voice is similar to this?
Skullkrusher and Spiritual Void remind me of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne.
This sounds sort of like Coc or pantera to me.
@@iamgribs It definitely doesn't sound like Pantera! Rather with Down, the other band Phil Anselmo was in. El.mejor álbum de overkill
FN awesome!!
Into the Void + Children of the Grave = Spiritual Void
@Krrrimmi Yeah i saw that tour when they had testamet with them. Awesome show. I met Megadeth when they came to the state fair too.
got that east coast hardcore sound love it :)
FUCKING RIGHT.
This video was gone from TH-cam last year.
THANK YOU.
@Alcohollica1966 Exactly! Warehouse records is where I bought all my CDs. Always USED of course, because you could return them.
Very good sound!
saw them kick ass in Cleveland iñ 1994 with Angus dei
agnus*
badass bassist
Exactly. NOBODY can top Horrorscope, even Overkill themselves :) Best. Thrash. Record. Ever. :)
sounds like something Dimebag Darrel together with Ozzy Osbourne would make
Does remind me of ozzy
From Hell!
If it had a better riff
just sounds like the classic ozzy and zakk wylde
I really wish shit like this was still going strong. Overkill rules!!! Trash on!
Blitz and DD!
Magnificent
