  • In this video i take a road trip a couple hours south to meet up with someone that i met at our Meetup events this past year. This is one of three locations that i checked out this day and we start off with a killer location. This Abandoned hospital/asylum has a long dated history and is nothing short of incredible to see in person. So come along as we see some of the amazing sites at this impressive location. Enjoy
    Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own.

    This was in the new recently that there are plans to tear this massive complex down and use the land for recreational use. This is the reason i film these places. Once they're gone, they're gone.

      I live in York County. They are supposed to be ripping down an old house ( built 1925 ) in a month or so. I videoed it and wheii did some strange things started happening. I had walked through the house a few times before that no problem. But once I started videoing, noises, crashing sounds and I am 100 per cent sure no one was there. When I did a play back of video, my phone gave a corrupted file. Hmmmm...

      ...i love historical sites & the history behind them...it breaks my heart to see graffiti (most of it of an offensive nature)...i also don't understand why some people feel the need to physically destroy an abandoned site - it's totally unnecessary to smash sinks & toilets, break windows & tear up furniture, etc...i appreciate the announcement that you (& most other explorers like you) make about respecting the property that you visit...oh, almost forgot, of all videos that i've viewed - i enjoy yours the most - you know how to keep your narratives informative & interesting without blabbing on & on...i also like that you are not arrogant & assume you know everything - you give your thoughts on the use or name of an item & then ask your viewers for their knowledge...thanx for inviting me to "come along" on your expeditions...

      I agree on that the shame that people have to go and vandalize stuff for scrap stuff that's why the old Reid Hospital got torn down when I first had gone to explore the Reid Hospital back in 2014 it had some damage to it but there were a lot of rooms that look like the employees just clocked out turned off the lights and went home for the day and there was still names upon the dry erase boards about doctors that were on duty the last day and even instructions in one patient room they told the patient what they were doing that day and about three years later it look like a bomb had gone off because there was so much graffiti and broken glass before there was hardly a broken window in the place such a shame and now it's gone

    Fun fact.. The new air compressor at 18:00 was probably installed very near the moment of abandonment, and probably as a result of a fire code violation. Reason why, the fire sprinklers in this building appear to be the "dry type." The water is held back by an air valve (the larger of the two on the wall to the right of the compressor.) What that accomplishes is, instead of the sprinkler pipes being charged with water, they are instead empty and dry, charged with compressed air. When one of the sprinkler heads opens due to a fire, air will rush out, and the sudden drop in charge pressure will then trigger the water valve to open, fill the pipes, and water will begin spraying from the sprinkler. This serves two purposes, the first being a small leak somewhere in the fire sprinkler system will leak air, not spill water all over everything. The second, and most important function, is the pipes remain clean and dry, don't rust and corrode, and won't freeze in unheated areas.

    Heck I am surprised that Pennsylvania had not thought of cleaning it up and made small apartments for the homeless Veterans around Pennsylvania or even in the Eastern corridor. Some place they could show some pride to the Veterans. Just because it was a hospital. Rebuild and clean it up. They could put 64 solar panels on the roof of all the builds. 215 acres of land. Could build a transfer living for Veterans of all wars that are still living.

      @TheTechnofu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sometimes the parents just couldn't provide a safe environment or control behavior that was harming themselves or others as they got more and more adult sized - I'm sure it broke their hearts either way - so they tried to find a medical facility they thought would nurture their loved one. I bet a lot of families got duped, thinking the facilities were going to give better care than they did.
      I assume the Northampton graffiti was about the MA state hospital which probably has a similar story

    • @screamingtima1318
      @screamingtima1318 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheTechnofu I remember reading extensively about Pennhurst and how parents would drop their kids off because they were born with a disability and just didn’t want to deal with them. Not because they couldn’t financially tend to them or offer them a safe environment, but because they were ashamed. This coming from nurses that had worked there. So, I’m assuming that this happened at all these hospitals that cared for the mentally and physically disabled. I guess I just don’t understand how anyone could do that because it’s not in me to do something so cruel. 🤷‍♀️

    JP, I discovered your wonderful videos a few days ago and I must say, I haven't gotten much done since then. I love following you around every corner in the homes, resorts and place you go as one never knows what you will find around the next corner. I enjoy the paranormal investigations also. They keep me on the edge of my seat. Please keep up your awesome work and keep the videos coming. Awesome work and great contents. Thank you.

      I have a ride to get to a man in Pennsylvania to check out some of my coins but it will be awhile yet. I'm cleaning out the apt I've been in for 7 yrs, we're having biggies from Hud Corporate will be coming to inspect my apt and hopefully many others and the corrupt head apt manager is hopefully going to get her butt kicked and maybe I can get all the money she charged me for phoney late rent fees I might be able to get back. Plus I've had to live with black mold & other molds, leaky windows, no heating/air conditioning for 7 yrs as there is a huge hole cut out exposing the hot air to come in or freezing cold in the winter and nothing fixed in 7 yrs. !
      I'll be getting my valcher soon and will be moving into a brand new apt building. The apt will be bigger, a washer/dryer in it, a real kitchen, hot/cold running water for the same (probably less) than what I'm paying now, cause manager has raised my rent so many times cause I'm one of the few that stand up to her.
      We have a very racist manager & since she came it's drug dealer haven, it wasn't like this when I moved in. If some of my coins can go to auction and sell well I hope to buy a car/home and get out of Maryland & maybe move to Pennsylvania. Then I could donate to you and my friend Oddie.

    I have a fondness for various aspects of older buildings, from ornate wood and tile work to vintage plumbing fixtures - water fountains, sinks, tubs, etc. Though it might cause others undue concern, your plumbing fixture footage is appreciated by some. One of these years I might have to get a claw foot tub.

    ....definitely a huge, sprawling complex ....with an obvious huge Pediatric population historical footprint. The size and span remind me of the Richsrdson, Buffalo Psychiatric Complex saved after years of neglect shortly before the wrecking ball arrived. Now a Luxury Urban Conference Center and Hotel. Working there as a student nurse decades ago, I doubt I would sleep well on the premises even after all these years. Terrific explore....great documentation.
