Thanks Alan so much for sharing the video I'm from rochdale Lancashire my parents used to love watching him preforming loved him as loftier in ain't half hot mum bless him lovely man and his wife Elizabeth ledgend and genius ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was so lucky when I was a little girl age 10 on a family holiday to Jersey we went to a cabaret at a place called Water Splash where Windsor Davis & Don Estelle were the star act. I was seated at a table one side of the aisle where they were walking through & performing. Don Estelle stopped in the aisle & sang to me close up, it was a lovely thing for a little girl to remember all of her life & he was, such a talented singer. Thank you for that Don Estelle 💙
He was great in the hilarious 'It ain't half hot mum ',but I got such a surprise when I first heard him sing. I was not expecting that voice to come out of him
He still lives everyday on my TV as I watch 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' . This week (20/8/2024) it's announced John Clegg (Gunner Graham) has sadly died aged 90. Thanks for an emotional tribute.
Thanks Alan. He did have a lovely voice and I did love the series It Ain’t Half Hot Mom. Time passes so quickly. Nice to be reminded of happy times on tv.
I met Don Estelle when I was a teenager. He was promoting his latest album, and singing live in Woolworths. I got his autograph on the back of a Woolworths paper bag. I loved his whispering grass song x
Hi Liesl well done for your meetup. Wasn't he a wonderful voice? It just didn't look the part of the leading singer. Did he and people are so obsessed by looks? It probably ended his career which is a shame. Thank you for the comment. Alan
Thanks Alan, and you have done it again , a video who a great actor I met and worked with on It Ain’t half hot mum when I was at the BBC as a dresser in 1980/81. Great show and it was a very happy show to work on all lovely actors and it was a happy crew because it was utterly professional and they all got on. Windsor was a lovely guy and Melvern , all of them. Don was lovely and very unassuming and didn’t like any fuss. Brings back memories of a happy time of my life and looking back to have been a part of television history. As you may well know the BBC TV centre at white city had many studios and every studio was busy 7days a week . It was thriving . Great show and it’s like a personal goodbye when you show some of these actors I have met in my TV work. Thanks great work ❤
How fantastic John to have all those memories and to work on some of these iconic shows. It's always great to see the people in real life. I bet you could tell quite a few stories 🤣 I worked as an electrician on the film in 1999 and became an extra because of the agent being on the set. You can have some unusual and interesting days for sure. Maybe one day we'll speak. That would be fun. Take care of yourself. Hope to see you on the next one. Alan
Alan, I remember seeing Don in the Market gates shopping moll at Great Yarmouth, he was selling his tapes from a stall, I really could not believe what I had seen, a man with such a lovely voice trying to sell his tapes to make a few quid, I felt quite sad !
A fabulous singer,what a voice,loved him in it ain't half hot mum,I've got a CD of his,lovely to listen too when I want too relax,he had a very soothing voice,thank you Alan,stay safe,xxxx❤️😊
I was directing Don in a play in 2001 when he had to withdraw for health reasons. I attended the funeral, and became friends with Sheila and Philip, Don's children. It's nice to see the headstone. Thanks for the great videos and memories, Alan.
Alan, I can feel your emotions! You are very sensitive about the great people that gave the world their talents. Don was wonderful! There is no talent like that today on TV. from Scotland
This got to this one Alan I could see it was sad I loved him and Windsor Davies they made a good double act beautiful singing voices and a very beautiful place thankyou Alan ❤️😊👍🏻
The only thing I found really said was that he had such a beautiful voice and it ended up in shopping precincts singing. He never really got recognized probably because of his looks which is such a pity, but thank you! Crystal, you are my gem!
My first proper girlfriend bought the Whispering grass single as a joke in 1975. Every time I hear it now it reminds of young love. I still have a soft spot for you Chrissy. ❤
