Camila is such a good mom, taking in five kids from another world, supporting her daughter, both in terms of her interests, and her sexuality despite what everyone around her says, and even saving a possessed Hunter from drowning. And now she's going to the demon realm with Luz to help and protect her. I'm happy to say, she's become one of my favorite characters.
"Supporting her daughter" is debatable, because the first time we see her she tells Luz that fantasy is holding her back, and her doubts about herself we see when Luz tells her she stayed in the demon realm seem to be how Luz started having the same issues. Good person, yes. Good parent, subjective and I can't say from what we've seen.
@@smileyhappyface5864 the problem is, her mom is objectively correct with that line. Luz's fantasy is holding her back because the world isn't built to facilitate her creativity. I know this firsthand as a nuerodivergent kid- this stuff does hold you back and we have to conform to society's standards or we could be put in seriously awful circumstances. Camila was looking out for her. Was it the best way? God no, that's a camp to teach Luz how to mask- which is legitimately hell. But Luz was also getting out of hand, including causing actual harm to the point she had could get herself expelled in the process. Camila was manipulated into sending Luz to t he camp as well, using her traumatic schooling experiences against her so she'd send Luz. She was told that it was the best way to keep Luz from being bullied and was misled about what it would entail- she was even concerned when Vee took her place. I personally think she's a good parent who made miscalculations. She was worried that she had been a bad parent when she learned that Luz had chosen to stay in the demon realm, yknow? She's nothing but encouraging with Luz. Idk she's just a human with flaws who could've handled some things better, but that doesn't make her a bad parent. Just my two cents tho, ur opinion is valid too

As to the giraffes, Eda made a comment about giraffes originally being from the demon realm in the very first episodes and how they got kicked out because of how weird and freaky they were.
Furthermore this episode quieted concerns of him getting undermined by the Collector. Not one bit. Belos remains a dangerous, chilling threat. Especially since he's going back to the Isles WILLINGLY, knowing full well who's on the other side. Almost as if he DOES know of a way to deal with the Collector. After watching him in this episode, I wouldn't even be surprised if he did have some contingency plan in case the Day of Unity failed and/or the Collector was freed.
@@smileyhappyface5864 Basically, people thought the Collector being here now undermined him (thinking he'd be the Big Bad or something) and made him no longer a threat, but those fears are over now, he very clearly continues to be a threat even though the Collector is here. This was never the case for me, I always knew Belos would continue to be threatening, probably even more so BECAUSE the Collector is here, and it seems that'll be the case :)
In the first episode, Eda casually mentions to Luz that Giraffes were originally from the Boiling Isles, but they were banished to Earth for being a bunch of freaks. The scene at the Zoo is a call-back to that episode.
Gus also mentions that he wants to become an ambassador to the human realm and reestablish contact with the giraffes, I believe it was in Hunting Palismen
Gus likely was piecing together that Hunter was a Grimwalker earlier than the others since when Luz mentions that, Gus doesn't have any reaction while Willow does. Also, he read Belos' mind during the season two finale.
I think that Gus was very much hinting to Hunter that he knew. First, when he tells Hunter about "Chief Engineer O'Bailey, who's hiding as a clone from the enemy planet" in Cosmic Frontier. He emphasizes that a lot -- and then, when Hunter (after reading the books) says later that he thinks Captain Avery is "starting to figure it (that O'Bailey is a clone) out", Gus says, "I think Avery already knows" (but Hunter shushes him because of "spoilers"). Finally, for the costumes, Gus says HE is going to be Captain Avery, and Hunter will be O'Bailey. Yeah, Gus was trying to work up a way to indicate to Hunter that Gus knows that Hunter is a clone, maybe a clone of "the enemy", but that it's okay.
Evalyn being a Clawthorne makes sense. There is Edalyn, her mom Gwendolyn. So a woman named _____lyn with a bird palisman, sounds like a Clawthorne to me.
The witch in the paintings inside Phillip's mind had a silhouette vaguely like Eda's as well (plus what seems like could be a baby bump at one point- another reason for Phillip's anger).
I still cant get over the fact that Hunter literally got infected by Belos through the tiny cut in his finger when he touched the goop he found- and he got the cut from when he was sowing earlier, my boy was having fun and life said "We are gonna punish you later for that!"
I totally agree that that was just nervous laughter and trying to cover for her nerd stuff being found out. But at least one box in the closet was labelled as Manny's. I think they were BOTH nerds; possibly it's how they met. (Not to mention, Manny being the one to give Luz the Good Witch Azura books.)
About Camila freaking out over the books Gus found. I think they were actually hers. Luz's dad (I can't remember his name atm) was more into fantasy, hence the Azura books, not so much sci-fi. I like to think they found each other through their interests. They were both, for lack of a better word, geeks. Just different flavors. She never once freaked out when Luz was being Luz, not even when she picked up a freshly shed snake's skin. That makes me think that she knows how "weirdos" think. Because she was one. I don't think she was embarrassed about being into that book series, I bet she just didn't think anyone would ever find the little geek closet she kept all the merch and stuff in. So it just threw her for a bit of a loop.
I was reading through the comments wondering if anyone else saw it this way! That was my interpretation at the start -- Camila's reaction didn't feel to me like someone sad about the way that stuff reminded her of her husband (although I'm sure it *does* remind her). It felt EXACTLY like the reaction of someone who has hidden the fact that they're a Giant Nerd, and is trying to make nervous, almost panicked excuses when their secret is found out. Camila is a big Trek nerd, and I would bet money on there being fanfic in that closet as well. I also think this ties in to a detail that Mikey missed (don't blame him! there's so much to catch) -- during Camila's nightmare, when she lands in the chair in front of the principal and he is lecturing her about Luz, he says, "Didn't you say you were bullied in high school, Mrs. Noceda?" A lot of people note how much Luz is probably like her father, but honestly, Luz is like Camila too. Luz's love for animals, as far as we can tell, is like Camila (who became a vet after all). I think that Camila, too, was bullied in high school because she was a big nerd, like Luz is. Only Camila was a Trekkie nerd, while Luz is a fantasy-series nerd. But Camila DOES know what it's like to be a weirdo, and be bullied for it. So yes, with the reveal that Manny gave the Good Witch Azura books to Luz, and with that box of Manny's in that closet, I really do think that Camila and Manny probably met due to their shared scifi/fantasy, convention-going, cosplaying interests. (The stuff in the closet seems to show costumes for both of them.) Which is AWESOME.
I think the dad's name was Manny. As for why Camilla freaked out over the books, I speculate it may have been because she was afraid of appearing hypocritical to her daughter. Sure, Camilla never felt freaked out by her daughter's interests...but imagine discovering that your parent had a love for fiction, after they themselves told you such things were "holding you back"
It could be both, like her parents were both nerds. Those were probably Camila's but they were likely also from a time she spent with Luz's dad, and they might have been into that kinda stuff together.

not sure if anyone's mentioned this already, but i believe Masha is the same person Vee and Luz saw in the park with the hexes holdem cards (in Season 2), and that's why Masha and vee's "first" meeting in this ep was kinda awkward, because they've already met
Yes! You're right. Masha was one of the friends that "Luz" (Vee) made at camp. And while Vee now has her own hair, her face still does look a lot like Luz's -- thus Masha wondering if they knew Vee. But Vee has to pretend she doesn't know Masha, because Masha is "Luz's" friend. (I'm SURE that if there'd been more time, they would have showed those friends "from camp" interacting with Luz in school.)
Masha also commented on Luz's "contacts" in their first appearance and her current human design uses her natural eye colour, which I'm sure Masha must have noticed.
I don't think the house is ever detailed, but I always assumed it was Caleb and Phillips house, thus why the portal (made by them) links to that door specifically, and why Flapjack (who I *think* is Calebs actual Palisman thus why it suggests Caleb as a name when Hunter needed a fake one) I think that's also why Flapjack knew the map was there, cause Caleb probably hid it there during his escapades with his witch gf
as someone who is still a teen, lgbtq and recently lost their father, luz's story is so so important to me and I can't express just how much she means to me as a character. loved your reaction ❤❤ edit: also recently found out I'm neurodivergent lol👍

I have no idea if we've gotten more info, but considering Evelyn has a resemblance to Edalyn, Eda's mother is called Gwendolyn, Eda's dad looks similar to Caleb, Evelyn aswell as the entire Clawthorne family have bird palisman, and the portal to the human world (most likely the same one Evelyn used) was in the Clawthorne backyard for seemingly no reason. Yes, Evelyn is most likely related to the Clawthornes
I was in awe the entire time my first viewing of this episode, I really love this entire episode from start to finish. Dana and her team worked their *sses off to create this masterpiece of a special, and it's satisfying to see actual regret from Disney's sorry butt since their decision to shorten it.

Oh yeah, his eyes are brown now. Like Caleb's reflection in the mirror in the opening. EDIT: "The last thing Evelyn would've wanted is Philip to kill his brother all over again." Man's been killing his brother all over again for the past 400 years. That's a lot of skeletons in that chasm last episode.

I'm calling it that the Cosmic Frontier stuff is Camila's, the one box was just a cosplay she made for her husband. She didn't seem at all hurt when they brought the series up, just embarrassed. The councilor guy even mentioned how Camila had a history of being ostracized when she was young too.
I like to think that both she and Manny were into it, and into making cosplay. When you look closely at what's in the closet, there are elements of multiple costumes in there, with a box labelled "Manny's 'Circuit' costume 2.0" and then the 2.0 is crossed out to say 3.0, while there's also a wig on the top shelf that looks like it's for a female alien. It was a nerd marriage, and I think that's beautiful.
Something that's under-addressed about this episode is that Luz seems to be suicidal. She essentially says (while projecting on a fictional character, sure) that she thinks she should've never existed, and her choice to stay in the human realm to punish herself really feels like... a kid-friendly version of wanting to die. I really feel for her. And speaking of projecting on fictional characters, I love how the kids in this show find so much comfort in fandom. They've even got COSPLAY. It feels so real... they're just like me overanalyzing this show for fun. The exploration of Camila's character is one of my favourite things here. The whole dream sequence was so well-done, and really casts the events of the first episode in a different light. Also, realizing that Luz got her Azura interest from Manny is both sweet and tragic considering the book was the reason she ended up in the Boiling Isles in the first place. It wasn't just her escapist fantasy world she's been chasing, but also the last memento of a loved one. Suddenly the whole show is recontextualized as being about grief. Also hell yeah now you're caught up with the rest of the fandom I can put my personal theories here. So firstly, I think Evelyn is all but confirmed to be a Clawthorne: the design, the connection to birds, and the fact that Eda found the old portal door buried behind the Clawthorne family home (rewatch the cold open of 2X4, I'll bet anything the portal they opened this episode connects to the arch you can see there) is just too many hints. And if Evelyn and Caleb had a kid together before Caleb's death, then the Clawthorne family could be direct descendants. And here's where I get purely speculative, I think Hooty has some kind of long-standing connection to the Clawthorne family or even Evelyn herself. I think the Owl House itself has some kind of secret lore relevance, and Hooty could be the key to everything. I also think that Lilith should be the one to kill Belos for good. There's a thematic resonance between Philip killing Caleb and Lilith cursing Eda, and I think it'd be both cathartic and just good writing to have it end like that. The final backstabbing. EDIT: AND ANOTHER THING. We've seen that the Palisman souls Belos consumes stay with him forever, so it's very possible that Flapjack isn't completely gone and is instead part of Hunter now. And maybe he'll gain some new insights or even a power-up from that, we just don't know. Also, this could answer a question people have had since season 1 about why Belos never took away Lilith's Palisman, and he also didn't crack open Owlbert when he had the opportunity: Belos doesn't want any part of the Clawthorne legacy inside him. He's just picky. He's that petty. He said "goodbye Evelyn" and everything.
Re. Evelyn having Caleb's child before Caleb was murdered -- in one of the paintings soon before Philip stabs Caleb, I believe we see Evelyn in silhouette and it very much looks like she's pregnant. So I think that is a VERY good guess!
(At 34:14) you want to know what the sad part about that is? Despite Belos skewered Flapjack, this was still done by Hunter's hands. He's going to be even more mentally scarred for life, if not horrified for killing his first friend like that.
Something else to note about Flapjack and Evelin. Eda’s father had a yellow cardinal as his palismen. It’s highly likely that Eda is actually Evalin and Caleb’s blood family!
Fun fact: Masha is voiced by Grey DeLisle Griffin, also known as Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Vicky from Fairly Odd Parents, Sam from Danny Phantom, Ice Queen from Adventure Time, and a lot more.
I don't know if you noticed (i havent finished the video) but the fact that Vee went to the "think inside the box" camp really shows, coz she can really act as a human like how the principal wanted luz to act and now Vee can help the others act human
The whoke concept of the camp is so horrible, and yet it still was a great thing for Vee. Adapting to the human realm, making friends. Itis sad though that her life before was so terrible that to her it was a blessing

The fact that giraffes originally came from the demon realm has been a running gag since the first episode, and the scene at the zoo was the culmination of that gag.
Idk if anyone said it yet, but Camila wasn't freaking out because they touched the dad's things, the book and all the space stuff were hers, she's freaking out because someone might figure out they belonged to her.
I love how Guz already knew that Hunter was a grimwalker but tries to ease him into telling them himsels trough the book so he can feel more confortable abaut it.
btw the "foot steps" at the end of kings tide was actually a piece of belos goop falling from the ceiling and jumping from the floor to the doorknob to close the door! and the giraffes were established back in episode one! Eda told luz about witches and demons during the flight to the owl house and she told luz how there are leaks between realms and they banished giraffes to the human realm for being "freaks". then there was a picture of them on kings board during episode 4 during the demon lesson. and then Gus said he wanted to re-establish contact with them in the human realm during hunting palismen! they've been pretty consistent jokes in the series
70% Luz's Palisman hatches into a snake 30% it hatches into literally anything else and the constant snake imagery associated with Luz was just a well-crafted red herring.
I think the cosmic frontier books were Camila’s cause in her dream they said she got bullied in high school. So maybe they’re hers and she tried to put them away to be “normal”
Yeah, doesn't make a ton of sense to have her hide something of Manny's, unless it hurt HER to see it except she didn't look at all hurt in that scene, just embarassed, when there are pictures of him all over the house and Luz was OBSESSED with the book HE gave her.
I kind of have a head cannon that if this had been a full season, museum guy would've been like a side villain/annoyance, always trying to expose the gang as witches. That was sort of the vibe I got with him running up to Gus and trying to show everyone his ears.
I try to not give away big moments of episodes in my thumbnails, even though they probably would get more clicks if I did. I try my hardest to not spoil the episodes for others reacting to these shows, because they can come across the thumbnail in their feed
While it's sad that things had to be cut down and montaged, I honestly think this episode had some of the series' best writing and pacing because they were forced to focus on what is most important. And I thought it was amazing. Like top 3 episodes of the series for me. This special had me hyperventilating, screaming, and crying. I even cried during the first five minutes! I had to pause it a lot so I could breathe 😂 The mirror scene during the opening and the "you're family now" scene keep looping in my brain. Hunter as a character is so important to me and I love everything they did with him this episode. I just want all these kids to have peace and happiness when the show ends. I'm right there with you, i love found family trope SO MUCH it's my favorite ever and this show has so much of it and it's done so well. Also Camila best mom. and Luz being neurodivergent!! + I loved the themes of like forgiving oneself and accepting oneself in the episode as well as the smaller theme of like stories being something we can relate to and heal through (hunter with Not Startrek and Luz with Azura) I'm excited and very anxious for this show to end. I can already feel the post-series depression kicking in, which is part of why I've tried to find and watch like every single owl house reaction. also Mike. i think it was you. who, episodes ago, like early s2, predicted flapjack being consumed by belos and in that reaction i had not yet caught up myself and i was like "i do not see it. I'm looking away. they wouldn't do that, right?" and then. HERE WE ARE? i blame you HAHAHA
*yelling, screaming, bouncing off walls* IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!!! Acronym: "Thanks" AAAAAA I'M YELLING HOLY CRAP EVERYTHING IN THIS EPISODE MAN ow oh god wow. Luz being depressed and thinking that everyone is better off without her.... Yikes (kinda going into some very sensitive territory for some people here, but that video recording she did..... Yeah it almost sounded like one of those notes, especially after hearing her outburst in class) If you look closely at the part where Hunter touches the goop, you can see the rabbit Belos was possessing in the reflection. He was in the shack, waiting for the kids to leave so his plan could work. LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THE FIGHT OH MY GOD?!?! Man it took a lot of effort to not scream at 1 am when I realized what was happening. Then the animation went up..... Still didn't scream but I did almost wake up my sister 😅 07 for Flapjack, that sacrifice scene hurt! (The week this episode was supposed to air, someone leaked that scene! They only showed the still of everyone looking up at the light but still..... God it was awful going on Tumblr during that time period, hopefully it won't happen again) Some happy stuff, almost everyone got into something in the human realm! Willow with photography, Gus with.... everything, Hunter with sewing. Amity really didn't pick anything up, Vee was already established, and Luz was.... Going through some stuff. The whole basement scene makes my heart melt, it's the first time we've seen our boy be safe around someone, who actually lets him show his emotions. Zeno actually went on the record and said that that's his favorite scene ever.

It really was a shame that season 3 had to be cut short, but just imagine the possibilities: - Luz thinking of ways of coming out to her mom - The Hexside group experiencing different things in the human world - Vee trying to find her own identity - Everyone trying to fix the portal - Hunter (with or without Luz) researching more about who he is - Luz and Amity having their slice-of-life date - BEACH EPISODE (The one Eda mentioned in “Oh Titan, Where Are Thou?”) If only we had 20 more adventures...

22:39 I mean, that house is apparently standing on Camilla's property. As back when we met Vee, Camilla said Jacob was placing traps on private property. It might be something she inherited from an ancestor related to the Wittebanes. And since the Wittebane brothers are the towns founders, it has been proclaimed a monument, meaning it can't be torn down or altered in any significant way.
The giraffe thing is a reference to the first episode “every myth from your wild is a little bit of ours leaking In griffin’s vampires giraffes. Giraffes? Oh yah we banished those guys ages ago bunch of freaks” and giraffes being originally from the boiling isiles has been referred to in small ways a few times after that.

Even though it wasn't for too long, i just love seeing the kids getting to be kids for a while. Especially Hunter and Vee since they didn't get to before. This episode makes me so emotional man 😭
this episode is so gorgeous, I love how Dana got three 45-minute specials and did literally everything she could with that it's also a little insane seeing how many things we could've had with a full season, like I would've killed for an episode of the witches' adventures in Gravesfield ALSO WILLOW'S SCRAPBOOK IS FULL OF COULD-HAVE-BEEN EPISODES DISNEY TOOK THE BEACH EPISODE AWAY
Since you asked, and in case no one has told you yet: I did some rough "math"/research for how long they had been on earth based on the content clues we got durring all the seasons. Luz entered the boiling isles during the beginning of her summer holidays, which in Conneticut start close to the middle of June. Summer Camp lasted 4 weeks, if I remember right, and was over when we started season 2 (during the time of season 2 episode 4, to be exact), so beginning of season 2 is Juli. Bellos says the Day of Uniti will be in "one month" during season 2 episode 11, and we see that happen during episode 21. So by the end of season 2, and the time they enter the human realm, we are around mid to late August. Since the special mainly takes place during Halloween, Luz and her friends have been stuck on earth for max 2 and a halve months.

Yeah I know. But when I watched it I heard “kill him” instead of “Caleb.” But when I got the video in editing I heard Caleb the second time. But I recorded this before I edited the finale video, so it was a surprise for me to hear it in this one
@@MikeyVenture A lot of people watch the episodes with closed captioning turned on, and the CC rendered that line as "kill him" as well, so it's not just you! It doesn't help that Belos's voice is kind of distorted.
Eda mentions giraffes when she's explaining the boiling Isles to luz in the first season also Gus makes a reference to giraffes when he wants to make contact with them when he's choosing his palisman
I think it's a pretty safe bet that Evalyn was a Clawthorne. Evalyn, Edalyn and Gwendolyn are all fairly similar names and every Clawthorne palisman we've seen is bird themed.
good evening, this is head witch adrian gray with a couple of notes in the form of notes (although this time a lot of them are just my personal opinion): 1. during the opening theme, everyone draw pictures of their family and put them on the wall. everyone except hunter that is. 2. hunter doesn't just see bellos in his reflection, he first sees caleb, who also has relatively long hair. remember that hunter IS supposed to be a copy of caleb. 3. I'm so f**ing happy that they actually gave us a scene of luz showing amity human rain for the first time. I wanted to see that so bad, but I was sure they wouldn't have time for it. I was a fool to underestimate this show. 4. luz's desk at school has L+A written on it. 5. I believe that what happened with bellos was that he got off of hunter after king's tide to try and get his strength back, apparently by possessing and devouring other creatures, later came back for hunter and when hunter saw the bellos goop and touched it bellos began possessing him and using him as his pawn. 6. I love that hunter thinks that the cosmos is boring because they didn't discover space in the boiling isles. gus said that the story takes place in the stars, which on the boiling isles are just tiny glowing dots in the sky with nothing else being up there. supposedly. 7. I would just like to mention that jungle book reference: "wolves are actually great parents". which I'm pretty sure that's where it's from. 8. on a food list next to camilla we can see that at least ONE person out of the group isn't willing to eat batata (sweat potato). I don't need to tell you why this is note worthy, right? 9. the snake skin that luz found is framed eating its own tail, just like the symbol of the ouroboros which represents eternal cyclic renewal or a cycle of life, death, and rebirth, while the snake's skin symbolizes the transmigration of souls. 10. gus says that he thinks that captain avery already knows that O'bailey (the character relating to hunter) is a duplicate and hunter covers his ears for spoilers, even though gus began the sentence with the words "I think". also O'bailey's name sounding like the word "obey". 11. the magic circle shop sells hexes hold'em cards. (and mispronounces them as hexas holdem') 12. boiling isles witches banishing giraffes is a joke from the very first episode of the owl house - eda talks about how every myth humans have comes from the boiling isles and gives examples: "yep, griffins, vampires, giraffes... luz: giraffes? eda: oh yeah, we've banished those guys. a bunch of freaks." as well as gus stating he will re-establish contact with the giraffes when he becomes an ambassador to the human realm in the episode 'hunting palismen'. 13. masha is vee's friend from when she went to summer camp as luz, in case someone(mikey) needed a reminder. 14. ghost sleeping is adorable. that's a fact. 15. the girl dressed as a ballerina sighing disappointedly at jacob (the witch conspirator) is the one working at the cafe from yesterday's lies. 16. when amity said that she doesn't know what the future holds, but it'll be so cool if luz were a part of it, it's a reference to when luz said it before she asked amity out. and that's all. you know, I would say now something like join a coven or I'll hunt you down, but apperantly all of us coven heads have been living a lie and are now part of a literal god child's game.
Wow, it's weird how it shows how people can just not notice things. I thought that Camila was the nerd into those comics and I remembered them saying she got bullied so I just thought she was embarrassed. I totally missed the fact that it was her dad's stuff which made it that much deeper. Camila is such a great mom I'm proud of her for all she's done and show. How she truly loves and cares about her daughter. And family I love this so much

My theory is that Evelyn was an ancestor of Edalyn, and that's how Eda had the door in the first place. It was passed down to her through whichever side of the family is Evelyn's. Also, I'm pretty sure Camilla was embarrassed about the books because they were hers, not upset because they were Manny's.
The giraffe thing is a running gag. in episode 1 when Eda list mythological beast that come from the demon realm she end with giraffe, Luz question that and she say "oh yeah, we banished those long ago. bunch'o freak". when King is giving his lecture on demons in epsiode 4 you can see a giraffe among the many demons (or is it during hooty demon health class in s2 ep8 ? both maybe ? I don't remember) and finally, when stating their goal to get a palisman during palisman adoption day in episode 6 of season 2, Gus say he want to become ambassador to the human realm and re-start contact with the giraffes. the joke is based on the fact that giraffes have often been seeing as mythological animal back in the days (heck in japanese they share their name with an actual mythological beast). also they're the only known vertebrate that doesn't yawn, for some reason
I may have had and still am a tad bit concerned, more so curious as to how they plan to close this show out. But man for all the behind the scenes drama that went on with this show and Disney did this premier not disappoint. They rolled seamlessly into this newer longer format and still gave us everything that makes this show so good. Can't wait till we get the other 2 specials.
15:52 Luz, it's not your fault AT all. Even if you never actually went into the portal. Philip still would've gotten his hands on the Collector, just by using some one else to distract the guardian. beast. And he would've been completely successful in wiping out all the witches, as there would be no one to let the Collector out of his crate. King would've died to the Titan hunters, Eda and the rebels would've still tried and fail at the stopping the drainage spell. If anything, Luz being there actually gave more hope of survival. As the Collector isn't one to just want to kill people for the sake of killing them.
Also little detail, but i love that Gus has figured out that Hunter is a grimmwalker, probably because of Hunter interacting with his trauma illusion bubble before. So Gus makes sure to point out that there's a clone in the book to help Hunter have someone to relate to, and then later when Hunter says "But captain Avery is figuring it out!" Gus says "I think he already knows." And concidering they later on cosplay those exact characters it seems to imply he knows as well
My theory is Philip used to live in the house, like why would the portal lead there? And the house looks very abounded and Philip was young in the witch bad people times so it would be very old or the house is just very special
On the one hand, it doesn't look like a house from 1613. But, I think it WAS the Wittebane brothers' house originally, and just was updated over the centuries (as many very old houses often are).
Well now i’m sad about Flapjack also they’ve been gone for months!! I love Luz’s mom seeing Belos and being like “Nah you ain’t going without me” And just so much more happened. Great video, like amazing reaction and predictions and theories. It’s January 19th and this is part 41/? (Wasn’t expecting this heartthrob of an episode)
The house is probably Philip and Caleb's old house, since we know Philip (and maybe Caleb too since the portal was in the Clawthorne's residence, and Evelyn is a Clawthorne (she has the same nails as Eda, and when you look at their names, Edalyn, Gwendolyn, Evelyn)) made the portal (Philip mentioned he made the portal in one of his journal's entries). It would made sense if he set the default coordinates for the portal to his home. And I think Flapjack is Caleb's palisman, since we see the two of them together a lot of the time. But I also think Evelyn carved him and gave him to Caleb, or they carved Flapjack together.
I was so broken from the ending of this episode; this was the hardest a show has made me cry in quite a while. I was literally still at the verge of tears a few HOURS after finishing this episode 😭
Okay so there were earlier hints that Evelyn is a Clawthorne, and that the rest of the Clawthorne’s are descended from her and Caleb: - Hunter and Eda say “Byyyyyyyeeee!!!” the same - All the Clawthornes have bird themed Palisman. -Evelyn’s name would match Edalyn and Gwendolyn.
And welcome to hiatus! Also, thank you for helping us survive thru this hiatus so far. Will you be reacting to the "chibi" shorts? As for the actual episode: - Yes, I can in fact imagine rain not scalding me. - The spanish was mostly explained this time, the only bit that really merits comment is when Gus is about to sleep. He says "i'm going to good this night!", which is weirdly endearing. - The montage at the start and the photo album Willow shows in the museum both deserved pause and analysis. Not quite as plot heavy as the paintings in Belos' mind, but they are basically a synopsis of the episodes we didn't get. - The giraffes, but that's been mentioned. I think that's all i got. This episode really proved that even with the shortening, Dana and her crew can do an amazing job. This episode really showed everyone that the 3rd season is in good hands
I really do hope Evalyn is a Clawthorne. Because as much as found family is important, and blood shouldnt matter, for Hunters identity crisis, specifically, having that direct relation with the Clawthornes by way of Wittebane bloodline could be a POWERFUL tool in coming to grips with who he is, who hes descended from, and all the baggage that comes with that.
I actually have a little theory about hunter, grimwalkers are known to have purple/pink eyes, hunters eyes are now brown which makes me think he could be a normal witch and in a way “free” from belos because of flapjacks sacrifice To be honest I really wish the next episode was called “for flapjack” but it isn’t

Farley certainly the Cosmic Frontier stuff could have been her ( Camila's )collection and she was just embarrassed.
Camila is such a good mom, taking in five kids from another world, supporting her daughter, both in terms of her interests, and her sexuality despite what everyone around her says, and even saving a possessed Hunter from drowning. And now she's going to the demon realm with Luz to help and protect her. I'm happy to say, she's become one of my favorite characters.
As a parent, I have so much love and sympathy for Camila. And I love the greater perspective we get about her in this.
"Supporting her daughter" is debatable, because the first time we see her she tells Luz that fantasy is holding her back, and her doubts about herself we see when Luz tells her she stayed in the demon realm seem to be how Luz started having the same issues. Good person, yes. Good parent, subjective and I can't say from what we've seen.
@@smileyhappyface5864 the problem is, her mom is objectively correct with that line. Luz's fantasy is holding her back because the world isn't built to facilitate her creativity. I know this firsthand as a nuerodivergent kid- this stuff does hold you back and we have to conform to society's standards or we could be put in seriously awful circumstances. Camila was looking out for her. Was it the best way? God no, that's a camp to teach Luz how to mask- which is legitimately hell. But Luz was also getting out of hand, including causing actual harm to the point she had could get herself expelled in the process. Camila was manipulated into sending Luz to t he camp as well, using her traumatic schooling experiences against her so she'd send Luz. She was told that it was the best way to keep Luz from being bullied and was misled about what it would entail- she was even concerned when Vee took her place.
I personally think she's a good parent who made miscalculations. She was worried that she had been a bad parent when she learned that Luz had chosen to stay in the demon realm, yknow? She's nothing but encouraging with Luz. Idk she's just a human with flaws who could've handled some things better, but that doesn't make her a bad parent.

Furthermore this episode quieted concerns of him getting undermined by the Collector. Not one bit. Belos remains a dangerous, chilling threat. Especially since he's going back to the Isles WILLINGLY, knowing full well who's on the other side. Almost as if he DOES know of a way to deal with the Collector. After watching him in this episode, I wouldn't even be surprised if he did have some contingency plan in case the Day of Unity failed and/or the Collector was freed.

In the first episode, Eda casually mentions to Luz that Giraffes were originally from the Boiling Isles, but they were banished to Earth for being a bunch of freaks. The scene at the Zoo is a call-back to that episode.
Gus also mentions that he wants to become an ambassador to the human realm and reestablish contact with the giraffes, I believe it was in Hunting Palismen

Gus likely was piecing together that Hunter was a Grimwalker earlier than the others since when Luz mentions that, Gus doesn't have any reaction while Willow does. Also, he read Belos' mind during the season two finale.
I think that Gus was very much hinting to Hunter that he knew. First, when he tells Hunter about "Chief Engineer O'Bailey, who's hiding as a clone from the enemy planet" in Cosmic Frontier. He emphasizes that a lot -- and then, when Hunter (after reading the books) says later that he thinks Captain Avery is "starting to figure it (that O'Bailey is a clone) out", Gus says, "I think Avery already knows" (but Hunter shushes him because of "spoilers"). Finally, for the costumes, Gus says HE is going to be Captain Avery, and Hunter will be O'Bailey. Yeah, Gus was trying to work up a way to indicate to Hunter that Gus knows that Hunter is a clone, maybe a clone of "the enemy", but that it's okay.
Evalyn being a Clawthorne makes sense. There is Edalyn, her mom Gwendolyn. So a woman named _____lyn with a bird palisman, sounds like a Clawthorne to me.
I saw this and imagined Lilith's name being Lilithlyn lol
The witch in the paintings inside Phillip's mind had a silhouette vaguely like Eda's as well (plus what seems like could be a baby bump at one point- another reason for Phillip's anger).

I still cant get over the fact that Hunter literally got infected by Belos through the tiny cut in his finger when he touched the goop he found- and he got the cut from when he was sowing earlier, my boy was having fun and life said "We are gonna punish you later for that!"

I totally agree that that was just nervous laughter and trying to cover for her nerd stuff being found out. But at least one box in the closet was labelled as Manny's. I think they were BOTH nerds; possibly it's how they met. (Not to mention, Manny being the one to give Luz the Good Witch Azura books.)
About Camila freaking out over the books Gus found. I think they were actually hers. Luz's dad (I can't remember his name atm) was more into fantasy, hence the Azura books, not so much sci-fi. I like to think they found each other through their interests. They were both, for lack of a better word, geeks. Just different flavors. She never once freaked out when Luz was being Luz, not even when she picked up a freshly shed snake's skin. That makes me think that she knows how "weirdos" think. Because she was one. I don't think she was embarrassed about being into that book series, I bet she just didn't think anyone would ever find the little geek closet she kept all the merch and stuff in. So it just threw her for a bit of a loop.
I was reading through the comments wondering if anyone else saw it this way! That was my interpretation at the start -- Camila's reaction didn't feel to me like someone sad about the way that stuff reminded her of her husband (although I'm sure it *does* remind her). It felt EXACTLY like the reaction of someone who has hidden the fact that they're a Giant Nerd, and is trying to make nervous, almost panicked excuses when their secret is found out. Camila is a big Trek nerd, and I would bet money on there being fanfic in that closet as well.
I also think this ties in to a detail that Mikey missed (don't blame him! there's so much to catch) -- during Camila's nightmare, when she lands in the chair in front of the principal and he is lecturing her about Luz, he says, "Didn't you say you were bullied in high school, Mrs. Noceda?" A lot of people note how much Luz is probably like her father, but honestly, Luz is like Camila too. Luz's love for animals, as far as we can tell, is like Camila (who became a vet after all). I think that Camila, too, was bullied in high school because she was a big nerd, like Luz is. Only Camila was a Trekkie nerd, while Luz is a fantasy-series nerd. But Camila DOES know what it's like to be a weirdo, and be bullied for it.
So yes, with the reveal that Manny gave the Good Witch Azura books to Luz, and with that box of Manny's in that closet, I really do think that Camila and Manny probably met due to their shared scifi/fantasy, convention-going, cosplaying interests. (The stuff in the closet seems to show costumes for both of them.) Which is AWESOME.
I think the dad's name was Manny.
As for why Camilla freaked out over the books, I speculate it may have been because she was afraid of appearing hypocritical to her daughter. Sure, Camilla never felt freaked out by her daughter's interests...but imagine discovering that your parent had a love for fiction, after they themselves told you such things were "holding you back"
It could be both, like her parents were both nerds. Those were probably Camila's but they were likely also from a time she spent with Luz's dad, and they might have been into that kinda stuff together.

Yes! You're right. Masha was one of the friends that "Luz" (Vee) made at camp. And while Vee now has her own hair, her face still does look a lot like Luz's -- thus Masha wondering if they knew Vee. But Vee has to pretend she doesn't know Masha, because Masha is "Luz's" friend. (I'm SURE that if there'd been more time, they would have showed those friends "from camp" interacting with Luz in school.)
Masha also commented on Luz's "contacts" in their first appearance and her current human design uses her natural eye colour, which I'm sure Masha must have noticed.
If you really like Vee's voice, she's a big part of Steven Universe... another GREAT series to react to.
I don't think the house is ever detailed, but I always assumed it was Caleb and Phillips house, thus why the portal (made by them) links to that door specifically, and why Flapjack (who I *think* is Calebs actual Palisman thus why it suggests Caleb as a name when Hunter needed a fake one)
I think that's also why Flapjack knew the map was there, cause Caleb probably hid it there during his escapades with his witch gf
as someone who is still a teen, lgbtq and recently lost their father, luz's story is so so important to me and I can't express just how much she means to me as a character. loved your reaction ❤❤

I have no idea if we've gotten more info, but considering Evelyn has a resemblance to Edalyn, Eda's mother is called Gwendolyn, Eda's dad looks similar to Caleb, Evelyn aswell as the entire Clawthorne family have bird palisman, and the portal to the human world (most likely the same one Evelyn used) was in the Clawthorne backyard for seemingly no reason. Yes, Evelyn is most likely related to the Clawthornes
I was in awe the entire time my first viewing of this episode, I really love this entire episode from start to finish. Dana and her team worked their *sses off to create this masterpiece of a special, and it's satisfying to see actual regret from Disney's sorry butt since their decision to shorten it.

I'm calling it that the Cosmic Frontier stuff is Camila's, the one box was just a cosplay she made for her husband. She didn't seem at all hurt when they brought the series up, just embarrassed. The councilor guy even mentioned how Camila had a history of being ostracized when she was young too.
I like to think that both she and Manny were into it, and into making cosplay. When you look closely at what's in the closet, there are elements of multiple costumes in there, with a box labelled "Manny's 'Circuit' costume 2.0" and then the 2.0 is crossed out to say 3.0, while there's also a wig on the top shelf that looks like it's for a female alien. It was a nerd marriage, and I think that's beautiful.
Something that's under-addressed about this episode is that Luz seems to be suicidal. She essentially says (while projecting on a fictional character, sure) that she thinks she should've never existed, and her choice to stay in the human realm to punish herself really feels like... a kid-friendly version of wanting to die. I really feel for her. And speaking of projecting on fictional characters, I love how the kids in this show find so much comfort in fandom. They've even got COSPLAY. It feels so real... they're just like me overanalyzing this show for fun.
The exploration of Camila's character is one of my favourite things here. The whole dream sequence was so well-done, and really casts the events of the first episode in a different light. Also, realizing that Luz got her Azura interest from Manny is both sweet and tragic considering the book was the reason she ended up in the Boiling Isles in the first place. It wasn't just her escapist fantasy world she's been chasing, but also the last memento of a loved one. Suddenly the whole show is recontextualized as being about grief.
Also hell yeah now you're caught up with the rest of the fandom I can put my personal theories here. So firstly, I think Evelyn is all but confirmed to be a Clawthorne: the design, the connection to birds, and the fact that Eda found the old portal door buried behind the Clawthorne family home (rewatch the cold open of 2X4, I'll bet anything the portal they opened this episode connects to the arch you can see there) is just too many hints. And if Evelyn and Caleb had a kid together before Caleb's death, then the Clawthorne family could be direct descendants.
And here's where I get purely speculative, I think Hooty has some kind of long-standing connection to the Clawthorne family or even Evelyn herself. I think the Owl House itself has some kind of secret lore relevance, and Hooty could be the key to everything. I also think that Lilith should be the one to kill Belos for good. There's a thematic resonance between Philip killing Caleb and Lilith cursing Eda, and I think it'd be both cathartic and just good writing to have it end like that. The final backstabbing.
EDIT: AND ANOTHER THING. We've seen that the Palisman souls Belos consumes stay with him forever, so it's very possible that Flapjack isn't completely gone and is instead part of Hunter now. And maybe he'll gain some new insights or even a power-up from that, we just don't know. Also, this could answer a question people have had since season 1 about why Belos never took away Lilith's Palisman, and he also didn't crack open Owlbert when he had the opportunity: Belos doesn't want any part of the Clawthorne legacy inside him. Re. Evelyn having Caleb's child before Caleb was murdered -- in one of the paintings soon before Philip stabs Caleb, I believe we see Evelyn in silhouette and it very much looks like she's pregnant. So I think that is a VERY good guess!
(At 34:14) you want to know what the sad part about that is? Despite Belos skewered Flapjack, this was still done by Hunter's hands. He's going to be even more mentally scarred for life, if not horrified for killing his first friend like that.

I don't know if you noticed (i havent finished the video) but the fact that Vee went to the "think inside the box" camp really shows, coz she can really act as a human like how the principal wanted luz to act and now Vee can help the others act human

Eda told luz about witches and demons during the flight to the owl house and she told luz how there are leaks between realms and they banished giraffes to the human realm for being "freaks". then there was a picture of them on kings board during episode 4 during the demon lesson. and then Gus said he wanted to re-establish contact with them in the human realm during hunting palismen! they've been pretty consistent jokes in the series

I kind of have a head cannon that if this had been a full season, museum guy would've been like a side villain/annoyance, always trying to expose the gang as witches. That was sort of the vibe I got with him running up to Gus and trying to show everyone his ears.

I try to not give away big moments of episodes in my thumbnails, even though they probably would get more clicks if I did. I try my hardest to not spoil the episodes for others reacting to these shows, because they can come across the thumbnail in their feed
While it's sad that things had to be cut down and montaged, I honestly think this episode had some of the series' best writing and pacing because they were forced to focus on what is most important. And I thought it was amazing. Like top 3 episodes of the series for me. This special had me hyperventilating, screaming, and crying. I even cried during the first five minutes! I had to pause it a lot so I could breathe 😂 The mirror scene during the opening and the "you're family now" scene keep looping in my brain. Hunter as a character is so important to me and I love everything they did with him this episode. I just want all these kids to have peace and happiness when the show ends. I'm right there with you, i love found family trope SO MUCH it's my favorite ever and this show has so much of it and it's done so well.

The whole basement scene makes my heart melt, it's the first time we've seen our boy be safe around someone, who actually lets him show his emotions. Zeno actually went on the record and said that that's his favorite scene ever.

I did some rough "math"/research for how long they had been on earth based on the content clues we got durring all the seasons.
Luz entered the boiling isles during the beginning of her summer holidays, which in Conneticut start close to the middle of June. Summer Camp lasted 4 weeks, if I remember right, and was over when we started season 2 (during the time of season 2 episode 4, to be exact), so beginning of season 2 is Juli. Bellos says the Day of Uniti will be in "one month" during season 2 episode 11, and we see that happen during episode 21. So by the end of season 2, and the time they enter the human realm, we are around mid to late August.
Since the special mainly takes place during Halloween, Luz and her friends have been stuck on earth for max 2 and a halve months.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Evalyn was a Clawthorne. Evalyn, Edalyn and Gwendolyn are all fairly similar names and every Clawthorne palisman we've seen is bird themed.
good evening, this is head witch adrian gray with a couple of notes in the form of notes (although this time a lot of them are just my personal opinion):
1. during the opening theme, everyone draw pictures of their family and put them on the wall. everyone except hunter that is.
2. hunter doesn't just see bellos in his reflection, he first sees caleb, who also has relatively long hair. remember that hunter IS supposed to be a copy of caleb.
3. I'm so f**ing happy that they actually gave us a scene of luz showing amity human rain for the first time. I wanted to see that so bad, but I was sure they wouldn't have time for it. I was a fool to underestimate this show.
4. luz's desk at school has L+A written on it.
5. I believe that what happened with bellos was that he got off of hunter after king's tide to try and get his strength back, apparently by possessing and devouring other creatures, later came back for hunter and when hunter saw the bellos goop and touched it bellos began possessing him and using him as his pawn.
6. I love that hunter thinks that the cosmos is boring because they didn't discover space in the boiling isles. gus said that the story takes place in the stars, which on the boiling isles are just tiny glowing dots in the sky with nothing else being up there. supposedly.
7. I would just like to mention that jungle book reference: "wolves are actually great parents". which I'm pretty sure that's where it's from.
8. on a food list next to camilla we can see that at least ONE person out of the group isn't willing to eat batata (sweat potato). I don't need to tell you why this is note worthy, right?
9. the snake skin that luz found is framed eating its own tail, just like the symbol of the ouroboros which represents eternal cyclic renewal or a cycle of life, death, and rebirth, while the snake's skin symbolizes the transmigration of souls.
10. gus says that he thinks that captain avery already knows that O'bailey (the character relating to hunter) is a duplicate and hunter covers his ears for spoilers, even though gus began the sentence with the words "I think". also O'bailey's name sounding like the word "obey".
11. the magic circle shop sells hexes hold'em cards. (and mispronounces them as hexas holdem')
12. boiling isles witches banishing giraffes is a joke from the very first episode of the owl house - eda talks about how
every myth humans have comes from the boiling isles and gives examples: "yep, griffins, vampires, giraffes...
luz: giraffes? eda: oh yeah, we've banished those guys. a bunch of freaks." as well as gus stating he will re-establish contact with the giraffes when he becomes an ambassador to the human realm in the episode 'hunting palismen'.
13. masha is vee's friend from when she went to summer camp as luz, in case someone(mikey) needed a reminder.
14. ghost sleeping is adorable. that's a fact.
15. the girl dressed as a ballerina sighing disappointedly at jacob (the witch conspirator) is the one working at the cafe from yesterday's lies.
16. when amity said that she doesn't know what the future holds, but it'll be so cool if luz were a part of it, it's a reference to when luz said it before she asked amity out.
and that's all. you know, I would say now something like join a coven or I'll hunt you down, but apperantly all of us coven heads have been living a lie and are now part of a literal god child's game.

when King is giving his lecture on demons in epsiode 4 you can see a giraffe among the many demons (or is it during hooty demon health class in s2 ep8 ? both maybe ? I don't remember)
and finally, when stating their goal to get a palisman during palisman adoption day in episode 6 of season 2, Gus say he want to become ambassador to the human realm and re-start contact with the giraffes.
the joke is based on the fact that giraffes have often been seeing as mythological animal back in the days (heck in japanese they share their name with an actual mythological beast).
also they're the only known vertebrate that doesn't yawn, for some reason
I may have had and still am a tad bit concerned, more so curious as to how they plan to close this show out. But man for all the behind the scenes drama that went on with this show and Disney did this premier not disappoint. They rolled seamlessly into this newer longer format and still gave us everything that makes this show so good. Can't wait till we get the other 2 specials.

Also little detail, but i love that Gus has figured out that Hunter is a grimmwalker, probably because of Hunter interacting with his trauma illusion bubble before.
So Gus makes sure to point out that there's a clone in the book to help Hunter have someone to relate to, and then later when Hunter says "But captain Avery is figuring it out!" Gus says "I think he already knows." And concidering they later on cosplay those exact characters it seems to imply he knows as well
My theory is Philip used to live in the house, like why would the portal lead there? And the house looks very abounded and Philip was young in the witch bad people times so it would be very old or the house is just very special
On the one hand, it doesn't look like a house from 1613. But, I think it WAS the Wittebane brothers' house originally, and just was updated over the centuries (as many very old houses often are).
Well now i’m sad about Flapjack also they’ve been gone for months!! I love Luz’s mom seeing Belos and being like “Nah you ain’t going without me” And just so much more happened. The house is probably Philip and Caleb's old house, since we know Philip (and maybe Caleb too since the portal was in the Clawthorne's residence, and Evelyn is a Clawthorne (she has the same nails as Eda, and when you look at their names, Edalyn, Gwendolyn, Evelyn)) made the portal (Philip mentioned he made the portal in one of his journal's entries). It would made sense if he set the default coordinates for the portal to his home.
And I think Flapjack is Caleb's palisman, since we see the two of them together a lot of the time. But I also think Evelyn carved him and gave him to Caleb, or they carved Flapjack together.

I was so broken from the ending of this episode; this was the hardest a show has made me cry in quite a while. I was literally still at the verge of tears a few HOURS after finishing this episode 😭
Okay so there were earlier hints that Evelyn is a Clawthorne, and that the rest of the Clawthorne’s are descended from her and Caleb:
- Hunter and Eda say “Byyyyyyyeeee!!!” the same
- All the Clawthornes have bird themed Palisman.
-Evelyn’s name would match Edalyn and Gwendolyn.

As for the actual episode:
- Yes, I can in fact imagine rain not scalding me.
- The spanish was mostly explained this time, the only bit that really merits comment is when Gus is about to sleep. He says "i'm going to good this night!", which is weirdly endearing.
- The montage at the start and the photo album Willow shows in the museum both deserved pause and analysis. Not quite as plot heavy as the paintings in Belos' mind, but they are basically a synopsis of the episodes we didn't get.
- The giraffes, but that's been mentioned.

Because as much as found family is important, and blood shouldnt matter, for Hunters identity crisis, specifically, having that direct relation with the Clawthornes by way of Wittebane bloodline could be a POWERFUL tool in coming to grips with who he is, who hes descended from, and all the baggage that comes with that.
