I really miss these days old days

I was born in 69 in Redditch, and I _loved_ going in to town as a child. Can't explain it, but town was almost _magical_ to me.. When I left school I used to go quite often with my mates just to hang around. I moved to London when I was 21 and it seems nothing compares to the childhood memories of the Bull Ring.
I visit the Midlands often to see family in Redditch and Brum, but the Bull Ring just isn't the same anymore, it's lost its character and charm.
Looking back with the eyes of an adult It probably _was_ a bit of a dump, but still it had a charm that I absolutely adored.
I'm probably mad (people tell me I am) but back in the 70's being in the Bull Ring was like being in the Wombles underground lair, sort of disjointed and kitch.. crazy I know..
    I really miss those days.

Born in 71. Loved the city and Bullring when I was a kid/teenager. Great memories and great city (past tense).

Tbf the New Bull Ring is a big improvement, can only imagine how bad it would be with the original 1960s bull ring centre today.

Totally disagree, in those days Birmingham was full of 1960's concrete buildings and remains of slums and bomb damage from the 1940's, Now Birmingham is a bright beautiful modern City after being rebuilt for around the third time, even the New Bullring and Grand Central are far superior to the 1960's Bullring and 1970's Palisades shopping Centres, take it from me I lived through the upheaval of Birmingham's rebuild for 65 years, and as a proud Brummie I prefer the new Birmingham as it is now.

This world does not exist any more. This is the closest thing to a time machine you'll ever get folks and its pretty darn close too. I wonder though what the exact year in the 90s this was filmed.

why, take it from me as a veteran Brummie, although the City looked Modern in the 70's it soon started to age, it now after a lot of rebuilding is fantastic.

@@peterwilliamallen1063 Just because something is in ruin, does not automatically mean to demolish it. It was aesthetically beautiful. Prague for instance does not go around knocking buildings that are decrepit and in ruin, it restores them, then decades later restores them again.
A lot more is lost than gained by knocking beautiful buildings down that need major renovation, save investors and building contractors.

@@Heaven-dy9lj There is a big difference between the magnificent old buildings in places like Prague and Switzerland to some of the ugly buildings that Birmingham had up to the late 60's which were not built very well, affected by WW2 bombing and were neglected by previouse City Concils, the old Central Library was run down, neglected and in the way of the Paradice Circus Developement which required a latge hole dug in this area so the Great Charles Street Queenswy tunnel could be constructed plus this area as yet again been redeveloped

I'm pretty sure at 0:03 if you walked down those steps, on the right was a t shirt shop that was one of the best for heavy metal band t shirts at the time. I still have a couple from there I bought back in 1990! Good days 🙂🤘
