Thank you for your video, took all your recommendations my dynatrap work like new. Plan to do it all again when, the bulb needs replacing or the end of the season whichever comes first.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video, that’s very caring and nice of you to help people, it’s an expensive product and the dang bugs get sticky and gross.
Yes, the dynatrap is worth it. I have no mosquitos where once they were so bad I could not enjoy my back deck (I live in NJ where mosquitos just NEVER stop!). Now, we have ZERO mosquitos in my yard! It is important to keep the unit clean - the trap basket as well as the whole unit. Be careful cleaning the top part with the bulb, you don't want to remove the coating that has an additive that scent-attracts the bugs! Replace the bulb every 4 months because its efficiency goes way down even though it looks fine. The best way to empty out the bugs that get trapped, is to place the trap basket with the trap doors on it (but NOT the part with the fan/light) in a plastic bag. WEARING A MASK, I put diatomaceous earth on the trap doors when they are closed. I then open them a bit and let the DE fall in. I use a good amount, and put some in the bag with the trap. Close up the bag and gently shake to spread the DE. it keeps the still live bugs from flying in your face, and keeps them from sticking to the trap. Wait a minute, then take off the trap doors, turn the basket upside-down and tap to empty the bugs. I do not wipe off the DE because it helps to keep the bugs from sticking to the basket between cleanings and kills them by dehydration. Its important to keep the basket held below the fan/motor when you replace the basket - you don't want the DE powder to get into the working parts. I also wipe off only the outer parts of the trap doors, to minimize getting dust in the fan. Before I figured this out, most of the bugs would get away, but this way they don't. I tried putting the trap submerged in water, i tried spraying with water or rubbing alchohol - but the bugs were flying out and the larvae were getting washed out into the grass. Using Diatomaceous earth seamed to make it easier and more efficient. It kills the bugs long before you have to empty the trap. I empty my trap once a week and there are enough bugs in it to cover the floor of the basket - which can obstruct the fan and make it work harder. This is why it is important to not let it fill up! Glad this works for you, and thanks for the instructions on how to maintain the upper parts! There are not to many unbiased user reviews and tips out there for this! I also use Mosquito Bits and Mosquito Dunks anywhere water puddles after a rain. It really helps kill mosquitos before the are out of the lavae stage. I can tell because there are fewer mosquitos in my dynatrap since using the bits and the dunks. Mosquitos Bits/Dunks are harmless to everything but mosquitos! Just do a little research and of course, follow the directions! 😁
Gracias por el video, es de los mejores que he visto sobre el tema, muy bien explicado. Thanks for the video, it is one of the best I have seen on the subject, very well explained.
I recently bought one, and I was curious how long it takes for the trapped bugs to die? I want to empty the canister on the bottom, but about 1/2 of the bugs are still alive. I had to screw it back on real quick before they all escaped.
You can spray isopropyl alcohol on the bugs and they will all die pretty quickly. This will evaporate and not leave any residue behind like bug spray would.
I have a different model, but have you by accident ever disconnected the connection for to the fan? I was trying to clean my fan compartment out and the connector got disconnected and now it’s really far up in the machine. Hoping I can get to it with some tweezers.
To answer your question could you use WD-40 while it's a lubricant and I'm sure probably do just fine you don't want to put too much in there just give it a couple of fast squirts and I think it'll be okay you want to peel back that little I guess I guess it's a paper that kind of covers that part you want to peel it back and just put a little bit of WD-40 in there and let it sit for about maybe 5-10 minutes so it works itself in I use some lubricant that you use on a swamp cooler fan motor and it's still running today let me know if you have any problems. Thanks for watching the video.
I did that but I still had to put oil on the spot beneath the label on the bottom. It was making a much louder racket before I did that last step. But I agree, I had to do both. He keeps his so much cleaner than I kept mine before.
Thank you for posting! My fan stopped too and there's barely any videos on repairing/maintaining this product

Why not just remove the fan by removing the 4 screws like it says in the manual? It's much easier to clean that way.
