    You say you hope this video has been a bit of interest to me? I wish I could have watched this back in the '80s when I owned this cuz I could have used a bit of this advice. Dave, you are an inspiration to me and I am sure to a lot of folks. Keep on restoring and save the toys! Thank you kindly for your knowledge.

    Very nice donation as it had all the landing gear complete and intact. Great work on the tails...brilliant idea 💡

    Who would have thought to use the plastic from a CD case to make a new tab for a broken tail fin wing, Toy Polloi that’s who! What a fantastic idea for a toy fix. I have a few toys that have similar tabs that have broken off and I’m definitely going to be employing this handy fix for them. Thank you for another great video and I look forward to seeing the Skystriker back to its former glory!

    Came across my old SkyStriker in my parents garage a couple years ago. I got it for my birthday in 1983. It was missing a bunch of stuff and was yellowed. I gave it a full restoration and now it looks great. Great fix on the tail fin !

    I really enjoy your videos! I am in the process of fixing up some vintage GI Joe toys including two Skystrikers for my boys to get foe Christmas this year. Not all like brand new but good enough for play. I wish you had a video on a complete Dragonfly repair, working on that too. Keep up the good work!

    I still think that this is one of the coolest toys out there. But the one thing that keeps bothering me about it is that the when the wings are outward the gear goes down. I wish that this was reversed. I can't wait for part 2, this was a very exciting video :)

      Ezri Dax , we (the children of the 80's ) were really lucky to be the generation that got these sort of toys as children. ...many great backyard and garden memories. now, we watch our children and THEIR children play as we remember what it was like to be so young.

    Great vid bud, can't wait for part two. I got myself a pin vice a while ago and the drill bits I got with it seem to go going really quickly, I'm only using it on fixing plastic toys, but your drill bit seems to work really well. You don't look like you are putting any pressure behind it at all, I have to apply pressure on mine to get it to bite in and start creating a hole. Trouble with applying pressure is you risk snapping or bending the bit.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do apply some pressure. The set I have was a cheap one from ebay. And came with the drill bits. I would expect to break a few of them though as they are super thin. So I will be replacing the bits shortly I think.

    • @BrynSmith76
      @BrynSmith76 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for getting back to me, yes, mine was a cheap ebay one as well so I expect I will be in the market for stronger drill bits or a simple way to sharpen them without a lathe. Lol

    Don't get the water too hot with vintage GI Joe decals you want to keep on the vehicle. The adhesive will turn white and crusty.

  • @brianartillery
    @brianartillery 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you ever tried using unperfumed baby wipes to remove dirt from delicate areas of toys or models? They work very well, I've found. They're also good for removing cak from old vinyl records that haven't been stored very well.

  • @KingofPotatoPeople

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've used CD cases before for fixes as they are easy to work with and have lots of useful shapes and angles in them. So it was a good place to start.
