    I am playing STO for more than 11 years now and I could still pull some interesting ideas from your video! GOOD JOB! WAY TO GO!

    I'm not sure if this vid is still current with STO ground tanking in 2021, but if [RegHP] is the most desirable modifier, wouldn't you want the Kobali Shield that has [RegHP]x2? Also, thanks for the great content!

    dunno if useful in 2023, but for my bit of Ground TFOs it will do i guess...pulling together with Paradox Bomb still fun!

    2 of the kit modules are from the summer event can you recommend 2 others. Won't have access for some months. Thanks enjoy your videos 🖖

      As the summer event ones are off of the science build, I am assuming you are referring to that one. I would recommend Paradox Bomb from the Temp Op specialization, and Frictionless Particle Grenade from the INT specialization. Nice strong AoE abiltiies, and Paradox bomb is a nice one to keep if you don't care as much for the interrupt from Sonic Disruption.

      It is a free ground trait that science captains exclusively get eventually in the game -- I honestly don't remember at what level though you receive it though.

    None of the other reputation sets good for tanking as a tac captain?

    • @CounterYoloGaming
      @CounterYoloGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many others can work well (or even better) if you have a dedicated healer healing you in a fight. I like this particular set as it also has an in-built heal to it which, as tactical captains, is harder to have.

      For my preferences (with a team of 1 Tactical, 1 Engineering, & 2 Science officers)
      **Tactical (there for draw fire & so some bridge officer conversations aren't weird in missions -- they can be without a tac officer): Gamma reputation ground set. Great 3-piece set that affects entire team, and has AoE with both firing modes to gain threat more consistently. Most tactical abilities are terrible with the computer AI, so you could replace the tac officer with another engie or sci officer and put this set on that officer instead for better overall bridge officer team performance.
      sto.gamepedia.com/Gamma_Concerted_Armaments
      **Engineering (mostly in team just for the mortar when enemies spawn in weird areas): Task Force Omega's Omega ground set. Great 3-piece set that affects entire team. Weapon not as good, so the engie gets this one. Most engineering abilities are set up a construct & forget it, so this set is fine here.
      sto.gamepedia.com/Omega_Force_(Ground)
      **Science officer (Healer): I would go with either the Lukari ground set (better healing) or (if your captain is using pieces from this set) the Survivor mission's ground set (better kit performance/efficiency, so the healing abilities are a bit stronger and more spammable).
      sto.gamepedia.com/Lukari_Restoration_Initiative_Operative
      sto.gamepedia.com/Furtive_Perseverance
      **Science officer (DPS): I would use the temporal defense armor (extra damage-over-time, which is most science stuff) with the Competitive rep's shield/weapon for more kit efficiency (so that damage comes out more frequently).

      Feel free to explore the other sets for any bonuses that you might want instead on your officers. sto.gamepedia.com/Set

    on the skill secction for tactical you did not put the choices after you selected your skill points

    • @CounterYoloGaming
      @CounterYoloGaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bridge Officer training doesn't matter at all to me, so here's the choices for skill points that matter for actual ground combat:
      **Willpower: this is the one most useful passively. However, if you like using consumables or are trying to run elite ground Borg missions (e.g. fighting the Borg Queen), device expertise is better so your consumable heals are better. She is SUPER HARD without device expertise on elite, but still possible. I've beaten her more consistently with a Science or Engineering captain over a tactical one. She still is my favorite boss fight in the game.
      **Improved Crouch: again, your DPS matters less with tactical as a tac tank (with your profession powers & upgraded gear it's going to be there), so more dodge chance = the ability to tank more damage more easily (and with draw fire, you should be getting the vast majority of attacks in anyways). However, if you never have the habit of crouching, improved aim would be better -- as long as you set it up in your preferences that you push the aim button and your captain stays aiming.
      **Melee stuff doesn't really matter to most captains. Fatal Fists is overall just better for most captains to kill enemies faster. If you need to close the distance to an enemy, there is the Lockbox Transporter or the Tactical Lunge ability instead of getting Furious Footwork (the transporter is a popular way to 1-shot someone in PvP btw with a few other kit modules...) Frosted Boots from the winter event also works as a device option.

      sto.gamepedia.com/Tactical_Kit_Module_-_Lunge
      sto.gamepedia.com/Frosted_Boots
      **Improved Flank Resistance: when you are with a good DPS ground group, they will blow stuff up so quickly you don't even need the flanking damage bonus honestly. Additionally, because literally EVERYONE will be attacking you with draw fire, you won't really have the opportunity to capitalize on flanking enemies. More flank resistance is a bit more valuable because of this.
      **It's really up to your personal preferences on Offense or Defensive Mastery. I personally prefer defensive mastery because I like to feel super tanky, but offensive mastery is generally the more optimal choice for performance's sake.

    Is there any practical reason for optimizing Ground combat? The battlezones seem so bland and boring...

    • @CounterYoloGaming
      @CounterYoloGaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ask yourself why you like playing Star Trek Online. Is it the combat in general? Is it just space combat? Do you play just for the story? Or do you play just for the socialization with other players that love Star Trek? If you enjoy the combat aspects of the game, ground optimization would probably benefit you. If that isn't a desire for you, a general build that works on normal difficulty should be fine. Almost any build is fine in the game if you are ok dying a few times in both ground & space combat.
      I personally enjoy ground battlezones more than most of the ground TFO's currently in the game because they are open-ended. You can play them for as long or as little as you want -- which I feel serves their purpose. You can even stop playing mid-doing stuff in a ground battlezone without punishment (not the case for leaving or afk-ing a group mid-TFO). I understand that many players like a set objective to complete when playing, which is probably part of the reason the Endeavor system came into being -- so that players with that mindset would have a reason to login regularly. With the loss of the Foundry, the "endgame" for combat is battlezones & TFO's (battlezones are admittedly easier as long as you choose decent bridge officers to supplement any weaknesses of your profession).
      If you want a challenge in ground combat, play "Into the Hive" on Elite difficulty (or Advanced if you are ok with carrying other people in the mission running the Random TFO system). The Borg Queen battle is probably the most fun (and challenging) battle left in the game.

    too bad ... cryptic broke the HP Regeneration ...
    Kobali Personal Shield Mk XIII - Health Regeneration +0,8 [ _blue_ ]
    *"Mark 15"* = +103,5 % HP Reg
    Jem'Hadar Armor ... should be +300% on epic ... it is half that now
    i used to have a awesome Regeneration Tank build (for all) with over 550% HP and a ton of Health Points (almost) nobody could kill me
    ( _a fully buffed tactical Captain can still ONE-SHOT you with over 10k damage_ )

      I used to have that combination as well for a while until they changed it; it's why I am going with what I suggested in this video currently.
