Classical music started as long as gold and silver coinage, maybe even longer. If you only knew the value of a Stradivarius violin, that will change your view on music instruments.
I have to agree with you on the Philharmonics. I truly dislike that design. It does NOT appeal to me in any way, shape or form. I'd much rather have Buffalos. As for size, I have nothing bigger than 5 oz. Actually I have a Beaver bullion poured bar that is 6 oz. I prefer having more transactional freedom with smaller pieces. I like the Philharmonics a way better than anything that has the queen or the king on it. The American Eagle is still my favorite, hands down. The coin I like outside the US is the Cook Island coins because they have cool ships on them. Yeah I know they have the queen on them but I don't look at that side
100 oz bars are tough to sell, I quit stacking them as well. Sold mine, and bought American Silver Eagles instead. I love getting my premium back when I sell them.
I like stacking vintage Engelhard’s Rounds & Bars for good deal only, I also love stacking Scottsdale’s rounds & bars & World Trade Units Rounds & Bars. I have gotten awesome deals on vintage even $1.00 to $2.00 over spot. I traded all my Canadian Silver Bullion for 5 oz & 10 oz Bars & just keep few of the nice design for my own collection. I like Silver Eagles for my own collection!!! 🥈🦅🥈
I have a hard time agreeing with this theory of stacking . Being a collector of rare coins the price has both numismatic values and silver value . What you don't buy leaves the group of smart investing for the people that understand coin value
@@joedipietro3443 to each his own. With a Mintage of one, there only needs to be two or three people in the whole world who want that rare coin for it to be worth a fortune.
Philharmonics are the Premium Silver (and gold) coins denoted in official Euro currency. Remember the EU Population is 450 Million people including Germany, France, Italy and 17 other countries in the EU that currently use the Euro currency. Why would anyone (who values Silver) not stack Philharmonics as equal (at least) to any other Government issued bullion and certainly above privately minted generic rounds? This 'opinion' makes no sense !
Here is silver I would not stack, Silver Heist - im from Canada not the US . I would not stack American Silver Eagles - why ? - they are the most expensive bullion coin to buy in Canada together with Chinese Pandas, Australian Lunars, Kookaburas and Koalas. The Canadian Silver Maple is the best option for me. The Britannia, The South African Krugerrand and Australian Kangaroo are other better options. Other silver I would not stack are silver bars greater than 10 oz in size, generic silver rounds with the exception of American Buffalo silver rounds. We dont have constitutional silver or 90% in Canada, our silver is 80% from 1921 to 1967 and sterling or 92.5% silver before 1921. The best silver coins I like to buy are Canadian silver voyageur dollars minted from 1935 to 1967 which are 80% silver. Id stay away from smaller coins from 10 cents to 50 cents.
I like the Canadian coinage. The voyagers and the maple leafs shout GREAT BIG OUTDOORS. the voyager dollars also have nice one year replacements with the goose and the totem pole. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Pretty sad how family members are so eager to liquidate accumulated wealth in metals, the moment their husband or father passes on. Then of course the cash gets blown on worthless trinkets, momentary pleasures, the type of thing which the husband or father avoided for decades, all so he could gather up an intergenerational legacy. Maybe in their wills, metal holders should put their metals in a trust, so it's an emergency fund, not a spending blitz windfall for family members. Maybe the child who has been stacking themselves for a decade or two, so demonstrated the same consistent attitude, then gets the keys to the trust, which then passes on to their kids. Male heirs most likely then, heh.
It’s hard to anticipate how others will receive a gift. So if straight bulk cash gifts lead to bad outcomes the conversion of metals to cash and then onto the next thing could also go wrong. But best is to try and educate or instruct the future holders ahead of time.
While there are deals to be had on certain silver products, there is technically no bad silver out there other than what is fake. Any and all silver is good to own. Just ensure that what you purchased, you’re comfortable with in the end.
I bought a bunch of cacg modern 2023 eagles and 2023 morgan and peace dollars MS70 mainly because it was their first year putting coins in their slab and first time the US Mint putting out reverse proof morgan and peace dollars. I do have some graded proof eagles MS70 from pcgs, anacs, and ngc. Slabs have their place, but common eagles, you better buy them dirt cheap. I bought these for the long haul, and they are in the deep stack.
I agree with all 3 of your types of silver not stack except for one!! Can you guess which? ehehe Great video my friend and congrats on the views on your recent video! Amazing
I quit playing the trumpet in third grade because my music teacher was a tyrant! The Philharmonic-in any form-is a triggering no-no for me. 🎺🚫 I’ve streamlined my silver stacking to 10 oz. bars, ASEs when the premiums are inviting, and the Cutsaw Mint “Don’t Tread On Me” round, which I can’t get enough of. (And I still pick up 90% from my LCS when I’m in the mood for some face-to-face chit chat! 🗣️)
@@theenglishprofessor8411 streamlining is a wise move. I find focus keeps me from chasing too many things and I can see my progress better if the pile is made up of similar items.
I agree with your choices of silver you would never stack, Silver Heist. I think slabbed modern bullion coins are a. huge rip off especially those First Release slabbed coihs. Like you I am not too crazy about the Austrian Philharmonics. I do have some in my collecrion but I think there are better bullion coins you could buy. Lastly I think 10 oz bars are the best - unlike you I would never buy anything greater than 10 oz bars. 1 kilo bars are too big in my opinion.
I agree with 2 out of 3... but, I love Phils and enjoy both gold and silver versions. The edge on the fractional gold seemingly sparkles with its interesting cuts while the smooth edge of the silver is nicely different than other major bullions. I primarily stack ASEs, but I have to have a tube or more of Brits, Roos, Krugs, MLs, and Phils.
@@getx1265 the Phils have their fans for sure. During the 2009 financial crisis they sold more gold Phil’s than eagles. Germans and Austrians love gold and the Phil’s.
Thanks for your view. I do stack a few bars when I can, but I like the philharmonics mainly because they don't have a monarch/dictator on either side. Because of that the US eagles and phil harmonics are my two favorites if I'm not doing generics.
Informative points, and I do agree. My last Phil was a tube (if you can believe that!) from 8 years ago, it was a good deal. But now I buy the random ASE’s when on sale, and a few present year ASE’s too. Maples and Britannia’s have been my go to. But I do stack 10 oz bars. I like taking a chance on the random 10 oz bar sale (the last one I bought surprisingly I received the Nadir 10 ounce bar) I hope fm has a sale soon I could use more!
No graded coins for me either. I'd rather use the money to buy bullion. ASE's are #1 for me as well. I've got a few tubes of Maples but my secondary government issue is the Noah's Ark coin. Not the biggest demand and not as popular as others but I just love the design. The biggest bar I have is 10 oz as well (at least until a recent purchase is delivered 🤓). Anything bigger is not worth it to me. Too hard to unload. Thanks SH!
Grade only makes sense of it is truly historic. But it’s a collecting world then. It’s nice to have a favorite and one backup. I don’t like to spread myself too thin. I wouldn’t mind simplifying the stack a bit, but it’s easier to shrink the purchase types in future than trading out the past.
It's good to have a little of both. You stack cheap stuff for bad time. Bad times may never come so you might sell that graded piece to get something back.
I think I have almost a hundred philharmonics. I picked them up a few years ago because the price couldn't be beat at the time. I have no problem with them although I have not purchased any in years. My only issue with them is I do not care for the smooth edge.
I bought 100 Philarmonics in cull condition for about 75 cents over spot. Spot at the time was about 22 dollars, so I'm standing in decent shape with that purchase.
I've seen a couple of thousand ounce bars and they always seemed completely illogical to me. Also if you drop one you could easily break your foot. Personally I'd never stack war nickels or 40% Kennedy half dollars. Finding them roll hunting is one thing, paying for them is completely different. Thanks, Silver Heist!
What's up, Heist. I thought for sure 🤔 you were going to say War Nickels 🤷 I actually have a 1K silver bar story. Back in the early 90s, I was doing a job on a safe at a scrap yard, and in the safe was a 1K silver bar that someone had brought to the scrap yard. At the time, silver was only around $3 an oz. Too bad I didn't have an extra $300 back then. I guess time and money 💰 are relevant 🤷
War nickels would be a good pick to avoid. I tried to sell a few rolls to a dealer once and he offered me 65 cents on the dollar. 35% under spot. I got him up to about 80% of spot. So me buying the war nickels at 5% under spot was not as great a deal when I sold it later at 20% under spot. But spot went up so I did make out in the end but it was harder to sell than I thought.
I collect coins minted during wars. I can picture the coins being carried by soldiers. I have civil war , world war I and world war ll coins. My view on silver coins minted during modern wars is that they are more than likely not carried by soldiers. I do stack modern silver coins that have eye appeal that are minted by governments. The philharmonic coin I just feel is an ugly coin that is my opinion. Bermuda and bahamas i do collect because of the silver content only. They will only go up if silver goes up. These coins have a beautiful look but will probably never be worth more than spot.
Philippine silver coins have a unique history. I believe they were made by the US mint on behalf of the Phillipines. They when world war 2 broke out and just before the Japanese took over the islands the silver coins were dumped in the harbor to keep the wealth out of enemy hands. And then after the war, much of the silver was recovered after the harbor had kept it in safe hands.
@@SilverHeist watching you and others from the online stacking community got me interested 😂. I’m a stacker 🙌. Thanks for all the information you have given me months before I bought some.
You are obviously only interested in VALUE - and never mentioned the joy of collecting silver coins for feeling good and happy - I stack but a lot of my silver is in themes of personal interest - like pirates - sailing ships - bears and birds - some colourful coins -- nothing bigger than a few 10 ounce theme bars - -- I stack but my collection consists of joy and happiness - and VALUE comes in as a second consideration
Joy is important too. I have some collectibles such as Perth Lunars or fun Kookaburras or even US Mint new Peace Dollars. This episode featured more value choices. And choices that don’t make the cut.
I have actually purchased one, and only one, Philharmonic in my stacking time, and I gave it to my daughter who plays violin for her birthday. Whew. Another bad choice eliminated from the stack! (But still in the family...win-win...)
Imagine, if you have had started to stack those 100 ounce bars since ten years ago (2014) and presently have 120 pieces of 100 ounces bars, you have well over quarter million USD. Instead, you bought & stacked ... 120 pieces of 10 ounce bars and couple of hundreds of American Eagles ....what a stark differences in fortune and value, today in 2024 !. Personally, if you can afford .. go for the 100 ounce bars... in ten years, 2034, there is a small fortune awaits ... who dares Win !! Agree those 1000 ounce Bar/Brick can be rather dangerous to carry around .. after buying and also selling.

What's up, Heist.
I thought for sure 🤔 you were going to say War Nickels 🤷
I actually have a 1K silver bar story.
Kilo bars are the world wide standard…when the shtf, silver won’t care what it has stamped on it.
@@richardlove4287 kilo bars are great. 32 Oz is a great size.
Thank you Sir. THE SARGE
Thanks for watching … HEIST!
@@SilverHeist I have a wwII Philippine coin minted in denver
@@SilverHeist Why couldn't the japs have dredged the harbor?
I agree on the 1000 silver bars. I think it’s too big for use.
Imagine silver being too big. And 1000 oz bars come to mind.
Great video, just started stacking 2 months ago.
Welcome to stacking!
@@SilverHeist watching you and others from the online stacking community got me interested 😂. I’m a stacker 🙌. Thanks for all the information you have given me months before I bought some.
@@AppalachianStacker watch, learn, then act! You’ve got this now. 🙌
I buy generic rounds. The shop near my house has them for 3 bucks over spot.
Nice to have a good local connection!
Just subscribed, thanks for the video
Thanks for the sub! 🙌
I think what I dislike most about Phils is the 1.50 Euro face value. What?? First time checking out your channel. Good vid.
I have actually purchased one, and only one, Philharmonic in my stacking time, and I gave it to my daughter who plays violin for her birthday. Whew. Another bad choice eliminated from the stack! (But still in the family...win-win...)
That’s funny. I knew it was in Euros, but I never even looked at how many Euro dollars. 💸
I like silver...alot!!!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Fantastic!
all silver? or do you avoid some?
I stack 1970's art bars
Nice! Keep stacking!
Great content! I don't disagree with ya!
Great minds think alike. ⭐️
I feel the same way about the Philharmonics.
Great minds think (and stack) alike!
I'll let you know what I won't stack ever is POURED silver I could care less for it and don't have a single piece in my stack!
Good call. I might have two. But I don’t really need more.
I like dates and serial numbers
Keep stacking!
The ozs do add up and when you commit to a bigger step and repeat they add up big time!
If instead of buying 100 ounce bars, if you invest in a growth fund, in 10 years, 2034, a large fortune awaits.
@@DrSchor The 100 ounce bar was bought in early 2024. In hindsight, i should have bought those 1,000 Bitcoins in 2010, where they were just selling at a couple of bucks each. The GREAT fortune would have made ..
I stack Philharmonics because my ancestors are from Austria.
Good reason! Personal connection. 🇦🇹
Help me to understand. There are philharminic orchastra in many cities
Oz is an oz. Stack for weight !! Not the wow factor
A silver stack of many ounces is a wow in its own way !
I will Never stack ..ANY SILVER AGAIN LOL....in the times of the Olympics I only got for the GOLD lol.. I know u young folks like silver.. I did too in the 70's and 80's.. Took me a long time to learn..Silver is Fools Gold..... as they say Been there done that..have fun young people...
I feel young! Great to hear from our Olympic gold holding champion.
Thanks Mel Man.
Haven't the olympics been around for thousands of years?
Can't stand philharmonics but to each their own. Also don't care for modern graded coins. I'm sure also that a lot of people don't stack bu peace dollars but...sigh, i love them. I recognize that Merc...peace.
Definitely to each their own!
Thanks for my favorite slabbed coin Merc in my perma stack. .
Eagles premium isn't worth it
I used to look for cheaper alternatives for eagles and liked bars as my choice. But then I decided to blend in more eagles too.
I'm not sure why myself or anyone would be concerned with what silver you particularly don't like to stack since you're stack is not my stack😂😂😂
Exactly! 👍
I need a 1000oz bar! 🤣
Doesn’t everybody? 😂
$2,500.00 gold..wow
Gold keeps moving on up! ⭐️
I will never stack Type 2 ASE’s. Epic fail. 🇺🇸
Got to love the classics.
🍯🐝🌻
Thanks ! 🐝
That's a way better haircut.
My barber thanks you!
omg grandpa image isnt an excuse not to stack silver
Respect your elders! 😃

Again this is this guy’s opinion I wouldn’t follow anything that this guy had to say.
Was it presented as the 3 commandments?
I missed it when you said it the first time, will you say it a third?
Dont buy gold. Buy 69.69 eagles
Silver and gold are both great!
I totally agree about the philharmonics. Can't stand em
Too many other choices! Something has to go.
