You bloody ripper, Curtis.
This is what it's all about.
The very fact you stopped for self-reflection and felt guilty about the activity is indication enough you're not being selfish.
We have one life to live dude!
I work hard I pay my way , I look after my girlfriend and our daughter I provide I stay patient when every one is angry on the roads etc so a week or two away on my bike alone doesn’t seem that selfish. My girlfriend rides horses so I guess she gets it more than others and I think she enjoys me out the house any way 😅😂
It is a form of meditation
A man and his bike in the wilderness
Agree mate , just the present moment .
I call it therapy, where else can we disconnect from the digital world and the relentless responsibilities that we and society impose on us. I feel it every time I get away on the bike, whether it be bush or roads or both, and every time I say to myself, wow, why did I wait so long since my last ride, I really needed this.
Great to see at least one you tube channel promoting high visibility bike clothing .
Last week was almost collected by a older female car driver , she sat at an intersection in Pottsville , it was a 50 zone , I was doing 45 , so when I was within 5m of the intersection she zooms across the intersection , I luckily have been practicing emergency braking , and didnt grab but squeezed the front and rear brake ….the menace stopped and I just got past her bumper after swerving .
The point is I had put my black wet weather gear on I have a black helmet also , will be shopping for a reflective wet gear jacket and next helmet will be a light colour .
Great video do you think the Tiger is streets ahead of your 800DE or just slightly ?
The Suzuki appears to be dropping in price at some dealers .
That Held jacket is fantastic, kept me dry and pretty warm. The Tiger is way ahead, but twice the price? Definitely not. I'd happily have the 800 with the suspension set up
@@onthebackwheel Cheers will check out the Held jacket.
Thanks for your efforts in posting these video's, I thoroughly enjoy watching your content. I call it therapy every time I get out on the bike.
I wish I could adventure like this. Like our ancestors just with iron horses now.
Wow Crazy Man Curtis is doing it for himself!
A great adventure no doubt!
One tip if i may suggest....if your boots are wet but you start the day with dry socks....get 2 plastic bags, 1 each foot, nice clean socks, bag over socks, boots straight on. Vuola, dry feet through water crossings. The longer the bags, the better. Not a fashion statement, but dry socks.
It is always incredible how videos can motivate one to ride as well. Have seen the two videos of this trip just now and I can hardly contain myself from jumping on th bike right away XD (sadly today my back doesn´t allow for it).
I really hope that one day I can afford to come to Australia and ride an adventure bike there. All the videos I see from guys like you, Adam or MADTV, they are just the best advertising anyone could do 😁. Don´t get me wrong. I love living in Germany and close to the Alps, but those endless landscapes and more importantly, endless dirt roads. Man. Until then I will enjoy your videos. They are always a treat.
We have unlimited dirt adventure riding here, very lucky
Wow! Incredible ride! Looked tiring riding the big bike in the mud but looked so fun too!
Great video Curtis, the ride from Nundle to Moonan Flats is actually called “20 creeks crossing”. So you got it right straight up. 👍
Great episode mate - really enjoying this series! Great to know there is endless riding to be had across the ditch in Aus. Cheers!
There really is mate. Could ride for years on different terrain
Awesome ride on the big girl 😎🏍️
Great video Curtis. This leg of the ride had some epic scenery and the combination of drone shots and onboard vlogging did a good job of showing it off. Triumph should sponsor you-your vids make me want to get the big Tiger! Looking forward to your next upload.
Thanks mate. Mean bike, I rate it a lot
Awesome ride bike seems to take anything u throw at it. That place u stopped to chat was glenrock station before moonan flats i reckon the house in the distance i reckon we stayed in while mustering or fencing on that property. Great riding all thru there beautiful country and scenery seen many anbike or 4wd come unstuck in the river crossing. You might think adventure riding is selfish but sometimes u just need to do something for yourself and clear your mind riding does this. As long as your partner gets a break to i dont see a problem. Look forward to more rides stay upright
Well there you go. Love that kind of history
It's around 30000 acres was sold to Chinese 10 years ago for nearly 50 million glad it was only roos jumping out and not massive pigs or dumb goats
Great video Curtis , thanks for sharing
Cheers 🍺
Important to be selfish, sometimes…we need a break too. Safe travels
I find it inspiring that you ride alone
If I tried to organise anyone else I wouldn't ride 99% of the time 😂
Nice adventure Curtis.
Really enjoyed it
Excellent video mate. I was out Tenterfield and Stanthorpe way a few weeks ago on my Tiger Rally Explorer (same colour as yours) and recognised quite a bit of the ride in your video.
Cheers. Beautiful part of the world isn't it
Awesome looking trip! You know everyone is so obsessed with the middle weight bikes but if I'm going street legal I enjoy myself more on the bigger bikes. I'm really interested in bumping up from my T7 to something in that tiger 1200 class. That T7 kills me on multi day trips compared to the africa twin which I stopped riding when the forks bit the dust. Maybe I should just spend the money for the new forks. Anyway thanks for the excellent series.
I could easily be turned. Ride riding was just so enjoyable on the big 1200 and it was perfect for most of the dirt roads and fire trails. And I agree, get your forks fixed 😂
I rode through nundle last month, there was so many road kill roos and wombats everywhere!
And there's 20 creek crossings haha
So many right?!
We've always been selfish, it's just survival. Mental and Physical Health... I mean we could be parked on the couch all the time or we can have the wind in our... helmet visor. 😏👍
Scenery Porn, you've got it in spades down there in Oz!
Love to grab your GPX file mate looks amazing
Thanks for sharing your selfishness man, love it!
Haha anytime
Cool ride mate. Welcome to NSW...
Cheers. You've got some good riding
You don't have to stop to go from off road mode to road mode. Press and hold the mode button and follow the prompt.
Just booked a room at Tenterfield for the first leg south, heading off tomorrow. Then down through Nowendoc Rd to Mt George then up into Knorrit Forest. To hang with my brother for a week or so. Then off exploring for another week or two.
Great country, staying away from wet weather until I change tires, need to do a few k on these factory tires first, so no mud for me.
How old is this ride ? Must have been in the last week or so.
Cool, Nundal & it's local is on my list, might try to pick it up on the way back north. I hate cold weather. They're breading up, it seems, rain = feed = Roos. Don't hit one. I better remember tomorrow to go easy myself. Last thing I need as I get used to this new ride. Carrying extended camping gear, so I'm loaded up. I keep finding shit I haven't packed, weekend camping is so much easier.
25:00 now you're describing me. 🙃
So funny, doing the creek, I thought you might redo a crossing or two, nice. 📽 Have you chewed the rear already, this is why 40-50 hp is optimal.
I think I have seen that track with so many crossing before. Might have to find it, Classic 👍
Now you're heading towards my home country, enjoying it, I see. It's changed since I was last there. A good reason to visit again. Fuk man you're getting cheeky now, still watching, don't lose it.
30.02 Classic. I will have to revisit, I'm jealous. Do you remember where that was ? What a great place to ride, Gods country, and we can visit, how cool is that.
Great price for that last room, hook us up with a name, so I can put it on the list if I get close.
Cheers, great ride Curtis, I enjoyed watching 😊
Good to hear from you mate. Definitely take that ride from Nundle, fantastic. The Roundabout Inn was the name. Great spot. And yep, was only 3 weeks ago now
get some blutack to put around your audio connections, heard it works well
I'll have to try that, thanks
Go boy awesome 👏 fck you haven’t dropped that big mother yet.. outstanding 😅
loved the pink & white Yamaha Warrior, I had one of those in 2005. 😎
Haven't dropped it yet... 😂
Interesting darlinks,, where do u make a loggy ?
That poor rear tyre 😂
It had it coming 👊
i dunno what you feelin guilty about.. enjoy it while you can.. one day before you know it ull be too old to ride like you do and you will be thankful just to make it to the shop and back without falling off lol..
GPS please, great to watch.
I'll have to see if I can upload it for everyone
39:31. Damn right! The one huge issue I have with my Rally Explorer is having to stop to change road/offroad modes. Nearly perfect bike otherwise.
💯, gets tedious but a cracking bike
You have to stop to switch to off road mode. You do NOT have to stop to switch back to road mode. Press and hold the mode button for a few seconds while you're riding.
Awesome video man, keep it up! What did you say about Anakee WIld's, I don't get your accent and slang :) Are they any good or not?
I thought the rear was awful. Lasted 2 days. I don't mind the front, performs well off road and is fantastic on it
I have been riding for about 20 years and haven’t been off road yet, l purchased a
Tracer 9 GT + what tyres are the value for money
regarding changing rider modes, My 900 I can change on the fly. back the throttle off and change ...not sure about the 1200
On the 1200 you have to stop to switch it to off road mode. You do not have to stop to switch it back to road mode. You simply press and hold the mode button and follow the prompt.
Bro please tell us what podcast mic did you used in voice over , the intro sound is awesome .
Elgato wave 1. Not too expensive and I really rate it
@@onthebackwheel thank you
I did this route very similar in August it was cold as witches tit 😅 no rain though 👌
Not much has changed then by the sounds of it 😂
Great vid. Can I ask what brand gloves you run? Thanks
Hi. Running Held. First trip on them and love them
@@onthebackwheel where did you get them from?
@@utilisemedia if you're in Aus, www.migmotorrad.com.au/. Found them perfect on the trip and been using them for commuting now
Nothing worse than spending money at a small bakery only for the pastries to be shit.
Haha yep, I even looked for a pie shop on google. Bloody awful
Can you share more 800DE videos? I think there are like 6 in the whole internet that are not ads or is just music over the audio
I'll be doing another one then selling it I'd say 😢
How come you didn’t take the 800de for this trip?
Was testing the Tiger 1200 and returning it to Triumph
Walcha is pronounced Wol-Ka 😊
I found that out when I got there 😂
